The Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) is seeking up to four new Trustees to join our Board and help shape the future of nursing and midwifery leadership in the UK and globally.

FNF is a mission driven, dynamic, internationally respected charity dedicated to  support nurses and midwives at every level to stay, thrive, lead, and transform practice.  

Our leadership programmes, policy work and global alumni network create a powerful ripple effect that strengthens teams, organisations, communities, and patient care.

What will you be doing?

Key Responsibilities: 

· Ensure the charity fulfills its purposes as outlined in its governing document.

· Ensure compliance with the governing document, charity law, and other applicable laws.

· Act in the charity’s best interests, making balanced and informed decisions. Contribute to the Board’s strategic direction, policy-setting, and goal definition, including performance evaluation.

· Provide guidance based on experience, supporting new initiatives.

· Ensure effective and efficient administration of the organisation.

· Monitor Maa Shanti’s financial, strategic, and operational performance.

Time Commitment:

· Quarterly Board meetings.

• To oversee, approve and present all yearly budgets, quarterly and annual accounts and other relevant financial statements.
• Review budgets, accounts, and financial statements in advance of Board meetings.
• Present regular reports on the organisation's financial position.
• Advise fellow Trustees on a regular basis of the financial status of the charity, and where necessary, recommend action.
• Ensure the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements with regards to financial matters.
• Maintain sound financial management of the charity’s resources, ensuring expenditure is in line with the agreed budget and investment activities meet accepted standards and policies.

Time Commitment

• Quarterly Board meetings (which are currently held online).
• 2 away days a year. In addition to Board meetings, there will be some ad hoc work support required in between meetings.
• Overall estimated time commitment is 1 day a month.
• Remote/hybrid working offered if needed.

What are we looking for?

Improving someone’s understanding and spoken English language, will allow individuals to communicate and connect with people in their local community, widen their network of friendships and relationships, and provide people opportunity to improve their employability skills. We are looking for a face-to-face volunteer for a minimum of 1 hour per week who is available between hours 11am – 2.30pm Monday-Friday!

What you will be doing

• To support individuals who are not confident with spoken English to develop their reading, writing and conversational skills through one-to-one sessions.
• Agree a mutual agreeable time and frequency that works for both parties
• Engage in conversation, allowing the person to feel supported and comfortable to practice speaking English Preparing and delivering sessions independently including setting work and assessing
• To keep records of conversations and update the support worker on progress of sessions.
• Support with preparing for the “Live in the UK Citizenship Test”

• Good communication skills
• Ability to provide a supportive and inclusive atmosphere

About Bank.Green

Since the Paris Agreement, global banks have poured a staggering $7.9 trillion into the fossil fuel industry. Bank.Green exists to change that.

We build tools that help people understand how their bank finances climate change, and what they can do about it, whether that’s switching to genuinely greener alternatives or pushing their existing bank to improve. To date, our bank-checking tool has been used 500,000+ times globally and has helped influence at least £25 million in customer deposits toward banks financing a cleaner future.

Through transparency, technology, and public engagement, we aim to redefine the role of banks in the climate transition.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced engineer to act as a technical steward for the Bank.Green website, our primary public-facing platform, working alongside another senior engineer already on the project. Technical decisions are made in a collaborative, consensus-driven way, rather than top-down.

The site is transitioning to Astro, with a React-based frontend, and is deployed via Cloudflare. Content is managed via Prismic as a headless CMS, with data coming from internal GraphQL and REST APIs.

The platform serves roughly 5,000 pages, the majority of which are repeatable, programmatically generated bank profile pages built from shared templates and structured data. As a result, performance, caching, SEO, and build efficiency are key concerns.

This is a hands-on but flexible role, suited to someone who enjoys maintaining and improving real-world infrastructure that thousands of people rely on.

What you’d be working on

• Building and shipping new frontend features that improve how users understand and act on bank climate data

• Maintaining and improving the Astro/React codebase with a focus on clarity, performance, and long-term maintainability

• Improving build performance, caching strategy, and CDN efficiency to keep the site fast and cost-effective at scale

• Collaborating on architectural and technical decisions with the other senior engineer

• Reviewing and contributing pull requests, and helping establish sensible frontend and deployment patterns

Commitment

This is an unpaid, volunteer role.

• Required: A portfolio, GitHub profile, or equivalent code samples demonstrating real-world frontend or full-stack work
• Experience as a frontend or full-stack engineer at a mid-to-senior level

About Our Charity Shops in Chesham and Burnham

The shop is part of the South Buckinghamshire branch and plays an essential role in raising the profile of the RSPCA in our local community, as well as funds so that we can continue our vital animal welfare work. Our shops sell a mixture of donated items, including clothes, books, bric-a-brac and collectables, and a selection of new items. We require help on the shop floor and in our stock room or you could volunteer to do a mixture of both.

Volunteer Charity Shop Assistant responsibilities

• Helping customers in the shop find what they need.
• Accepting donations of items and money from the public.
• Processing sales through the till and card machine, including Gift Aid. We provide full training but if you prefer not to use the till there are other tasks you can get involved with instead.
• Sorting through donated items to determine what we can sell.
• Preparing donated items for sale by steaming and hanging items.
• Merchandising stock on the shop floor.
• Creating attractive shop window displays.

What we are looking for in a volunteer Charity Shop Assistant

• Friendly volunteers who are confident talking to people.
• Retail experience would be ideal but is not necessary as full training will be given.
• We are ideally aiming for someone who is flexible and can offer an ongoing commitment predominately 8 hours or more per week, help during weekdays is particularly welcome.
• Good communication and numeracy skills.
• Using the till is not essential, as you can help with other tasks.
• You will need to be aged 16 or over.
• Our induction is online and you will need basic IT skills and access to a computer. However, if you are unable to do this you may ask a friend to help you or we can arrange a paper-based induction instead.

The Vacancy

Do you have a keen interest in current affairs and want to bring your wide experience of the Methodist Church to support its involvement in ecumenical social justice, policy and political work?

The Joint Public Issues Team is a partnership between the Baptist, Methodist and United Reformed Churches. It help the Churches to work together for peace and justice through listening, learning, praying, speaking and acting on public policy issues.

We are now searching for a new Methodist member of the Strategy and Policy Group which oversees the team’s work, and facilitates the working together of the denominations to achieve JPIT’s purposes.

The SPG currently holds five meetings a year, comprising one 24-hour residential with the whole staff team, two half-day hybrid meetings (where members are on site together in London or online), and two shorter online-only meetings.

About You

As one of two Methodist members of SPG, you’ll contribute to the discussions and decision-making of the group, and collectively support JPIT in effectively enabling the Churches to speak and act prophetically and prayerfully on key issues of justice and peace. You’ll need to bring a deep and current understanding of the Methodist Church in Britain, through significant experience of involvement in the Church at district and/or Connexional levels.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a Methodist member to play a significant role in the public witness and justice work of the Methodist Church, working with ecumenical colleagues.
