Purpose of Role 

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Digital Content and Social Media Volunteer to support MumsAid's marketing and communications activities. 

Working closely with our Marketing & Communications Lead, you'll help bring our stories, campaigns, events, and impact to life through engaging social media content. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating digital content, has an eye for design, and wants to use their skills to support a meaningful cause. 

This is a flexible, remote volunteering opportunity and an excellent chance to gain experience in charity communications, build a portfolio, and help raise awareness of maternal mental health and the support available through MumsAid. 

What will you be doing? 

• Creating engaging social media graphics and content using a content calendar provided by the Marketing & Communications Lead. 

• Designing visual assets that align with MumsAid's brand guidelines and campaign objectives. 

• Adapting content for different social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other channels as required. 

• Working collaboratively with the Marketing & Communications Lead to develop and refine content ideas. 

• Helping to communicate MumsAid's impact, services, events, campaigns, and fundraising activities. 

• Ensuring content is created and shared within agreed timeframes. 

• Contributing creative ideas to help increase engagement, reach, and awareness across our social media channels. 

• Following MumsAid's policies and procedures, including safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection guidance.

This is an opportunity to lead the protection of the vital footpaths and rights of way network across the countryside of West Sussex and ensure walking in the natural environment is accessible to everyone.

You will coordinate a team of Local Footpath Wardens and will be responsible for assessing proposals affecting paths and for developing Ramblers' response to and comments on those proposals, liaising with Ramblers' Central Office and other stakeholders as necessary.

You will represent Ramblers' Sussex Area on rights of way issues with the local authorities and at meetings and public events.

To undertake the role you will need to keep up to date with legal and policy information about paths and planning issues nationally as well as in your local area.

The skills required for the role are to be confident but diplomatic; able to understand complex rights of way and legal issues; be friendly and personable with the ability to influence; and good at presenting arguments in writing and in person.

The role will offer you the opportunity to use your existing networking skills; to develop new skills and knowledge in relation to rights of way issues; and to work with a group of fellow volunteers to influence local policy.

We are looking for a lively dynamic individual to promote the activities of Sussex Area Ramblers by regular communications with members and engaging with local media including producing press releases and responding to enquiries. 

The main purposes of the role are (1) to maintain regular communications with Sussex Area Ramblers’ members by producing articles for the Area Website and sending email communications to keep members up to date with Area activities, including developing a social media strategy and (2) to communicate (together where necessary with Ramblers' Central Office) with media in the Area, including by way of proactive press releases, and deal with media enquiries, to ensure that the activities and charitable role of the Sussex Area Ramblers are given a high profile

The Ramblers are Britain's biggest and most vibrant walking community. The Area Secretary is a key member of the Sussex leadership team, working with the Chair to ensure the team runs smoothly including managing meeting logistics and communicating with Groups in the Area.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Working with the Area Chair to arrange quarterly leadership team meetings, including producing agendas and booking the venue
• Organising the Area AGM, and producing the Annual Report
• Making sure that accurate records of decisions at meetings are produced and circulated on a timely basis
• Keeping in touch with Ramblers' Central Office, sharing news, including key communications, with the Area leadership team and Groups
• Welcoming to the Area new members of the Ramblers who live in East or West Sussex 
• As a member of the leadership team, contributing to decision-making on a wide range of issues in relation to activities across Sussex Area of the Ramblers

The Ramblers help everyone, everywhere, enjoy walking and protects the places we all love to walk. By volunteering as Area Secretary you will be paying a vital role in making sure we can achieve this. Running an efficient Sussex Area Ramblers leadership team is critical to the effectiveness of our organisation, and is part of the overall Ramblers governance. The Area Secretary is a pivotal position on the leadership team and ensures that we meet our obligations efficiently and effectively .

The ideal candidate is likely to have a passion for walking and the outdoors and a familiarity with the activities of the Ramblers and of the Sussex Area. The position is suitable for someone who is highly reliable, capable of taking initiative and with a track record of getting things done. You will need to be well-organised, good at building relationships with other members of the leadership team including the Chair, have fluent writing skills and be confident in producing agendas and decision records. You should be computer-literate and preferably have experience of using audio-visual meeting support equipment and desktop publishing software.

The opportunity

LGIU is owned and governed by its members.  The current Board is composed of leaders and other senior elected members from our membership. As part of a set of wider governance changes, we are now seeking to augment our board with up to five external trustees.

As an external Trustee, you will join a collaborative and ambitious Board responsible for the strategic direction, governance and long-term sustainability of the charity and its subsidiaries. You will work alongside fellow trustees, the Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer to help ensure LGIU continues to evolve, grow and deliver meaningful impact for councils and communities.

We are particularly interested in individuals who can bring strategic insight, external perspective and senior leadership experience in one or more of the following priority areas:

Public sector system leadership: Current or former senior leaders from local government, the NHS or wider public services, with experience of leading complex organisations through change, reform and uncertainty.

Business model development and commercialisation: Experience of organisational growth, partnerships, income diversification, membership models, commercial strategy or sustainable business development.

Technology and innovation: Expertise in digital transformation, AI, innovation, product development, technology-enabled change or future-focused organisational leadership.

These areas reflect the Board’s agreed strategic priorities as LGIU continues to evolve its model, expand its reach and strengthen its role as a partner for change across the sector.

We would also welcome candidates with expertise in communications and marketing, workforce development, research, membership organisations or international collaboration.

Time commitment

This is a voluntary, unpaid role.

The expected commitment includes:

• Four quarterly online Board meetings each year

• One annual face-to-face strategy meeting or away day

• Reading and preparation time in advance of meetings

• Occasional participation in sub-committees or advisory discussions

This volunteer role involves providing information, support and advice, particularly around welfare benefits and housing to Carers through one-to-one case work.

We are a busy, ambitious charity operating at the heart of the Wandsworth community since 1995, helping thousands of people across the borough in unpaid Caring roles. We give information and advice, organise respite, offer complementary therapies, deliver training, provide peer support, arrange fun events and much more.In short, we are the Carer's friend and advocate, often helping Carers through difficult times.

• Provide information to newly registered Carers about WCC services 

• Maintain up to date database records for Carers linked with the Centre 

• Maintain the information system under the guidance of the Centre staff 

Essential Requirements Include: 

• Experience of, or ability to provide one to one support, information, advice and advocacy, including welfare benefits. 

• Developed IT skills 

• Ability and commitment to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

• Confident and polite telephone manner

Taking calls from parents and carers at the end of their tether, offering a kind ear, non-judgemental support, and safe, practical guidance - all from the comfort of your own home, in your own time.

We’re looking for people who

• Are committed to supporting families without judgement.

Maybe you have direct experience of a baby that just won’t stop crying, maybe you have seen how it impacted someone close to you.
