The Student Publication Association (SPA) is recruiting a new member of the trustee board to assist its work in advancing the education of student journalists across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

As a small, student-led charity, we support more than 250 member publications around the UK and Republic of Ireland, offering advice, training, and recognition at both our regional and national awards.

Our trustee board plays a vital role in our governance, ensuring that we remain within the boundaries of charity law, protecting the charity’s long-term stability, and supporting our student executives.

For this round of applications, we are particularly keen to hear from applicants with one or more of the following:

• Strong experience and connections working within the journalism industry;

• Experience and connections in fundraising and sponsorship;

• Experience of managing budgets and finances;

• Experience of working in volunteer organisations.

About The Role

As a small volunteer-run charity, we anticipate the role would take up an average of 1-2 hours a week, although this may increase during busier periods for the SPA, such as around our annual national conference (SPANC).

As a trustee, you will be a collaborative and supportive team player who will:

• Attend monthly oversight meetings with the executive committee and other trustees;

• Attend other meetings and 1-2-1s as needed on an ad hoc basis;

• Offer guidance and support to the executive committee throughout the year to help them achieve their goals, particularly in your area of expertise;

• Ensure that the charity is carrying out its core purpose, that resources are managed responsibly, and that activities comply with our governing documents;

• Support the delivery of our national conference, including attendance at the weekend itself during the Easter university holidays;

• Where possible, attend our induction day, for new executive members each year.

This is a volunteer role, but all reasonable expenses will be covered. The term for these appointments will be three years.

You will be part of a trustee board of ten people; four elected trustees, four appointed trustees, and two ex-officio trustees from our student-led executive committee.

Job Title: Online Yoga/Pilates Volunteer Teacher

Reports to: Head of Digital Operations

Job type: Voluntary - unpaid

Hours: Max 1hr/week (30min to 45min class + 15min admin time)

Role purpose:
 

• Deliver accessible, high-quality online Yoga, Pilates or soft fitness/stretching/movement sessions tailored to a diverse community with varying English proficiency levels on Zoom.

• Create an inclusive, welcoming digital environment by utilising gentle, low-impact movements like chair yoga, chair Pilates, and equipment-free stretching. 

• Provide simple, adaptable fitness instruction designed for small living spaces and requiring zero specialised equipment.

Main responsibilities:
 

• Plan and lead engaging weekly 30- or 45-minute online classes using clear, simple English to ensure instructions are easy to follow for all participants. 

• Adapt exercises for limited spaces and ensure all routines require no equipment, focusing on bodyweight stretching and gentle movements. 

• Modify poses and movements to offer accessible formats, including seated options like chair yoga or chair Pilates, catering to different physical abilities. 

• Maintain regular communication with the Head of Digital Operations and track session details reliably using a simple Google Sheet.

Available Times (subject to change):

Fridays (preferred day)

• From 10am to 10.30/10.45am;

• Any time between 12pm and 3pm.

Tuesdays

• Any time between 12pm and 1.45pm.

Yoga / Pilates / Fitness Teaching experience and confidence using Zoom and Google Sheets are essential for this role, as well as a reliable internet connection and your own space to deliver the sessions from.

Trustee role description

Main duties of a Rosa Trustee

• Ensure that Rosa is carrying out activities that further its charitable objectives for the public benefit. Understand its purpose, its objectives, be able to explain them, and ensure they are adhered to
• Ensure that Rosa is complying with its governing document, legal obligations and statutory and accounting reporting requirements
• Be able to demonstrate that Rosa is well run and effective
• Act in Rosa’s best interests. Contribute to setting the strategy and ensure targets and performance are measured
• Manage Rosa’s resources responsibly (including its assets, finances, reputation and values)
• Be satisfied that financial information is accurate and that controls and systems of risk management are robust and defensible

Key commitments of a Rosa Trustee

• Prepare for, attend and actively participate in Board and sub-committee meetings

Specific duties of the Rosa Treasurer

The Treasurer chairs the quarterly Finance, Audit and Risk Committee meeting and provides strategic oversight of several tasks in close collaboration with Rosa’s Head of Finance and Operations (who is responsible for the actual execution of these tasks):

• Overseeing the presentation of budgets, internal management accounts, cash flow forecasts and annual financial statements to the Board of Trustees. Along with the Chair, you will sign the financial statements on behalf of all the Trustees.
• Ensuring that proper accounting records are kept, and that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
• Ensuring that financial statements are prepared which comply with the relevant accounting and statutory requirements.
• Ensuring that robust and comprehensive financial policies are in place and being implemented, covering financial reserves, investments, cost management etc.
• Monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity, particularly in relation to the application of the ‘going concern’ basis for the preparation of our accounts.
• Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan.
• Leading on the appointment of external auditors and liaising with them during the annual audit. Along with the Chair of the Board, you will sign the audit representation letter.
• Overseeing the management of strategic risks at Rosa through the development and implementation of systems for appraising, mitigating and reporting risk and by ensuring the consideration of risk in strategic decision making.
• Keeping the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities.

Care4Calais is a volunteer-powered charity supporting refugees in northern France and the UK. We work alongside people seeking safety to provide daily essentials, fill the gaps state support leaves, and open up access to justice. We also press the public and policymakers to act. Our vision is an inclusive society where people seeking safety have a safe home and a bright future free from inequality.

In northern France we operate year-round from Calais, providing warm clothing, shelter, services and assistance to people living in dangerous conditions. We're appointing more Trustees with lived experience of seeking asylum. You'll join as we begin a strategic review that will shape our priorities for the coming years - so your insight will help decide where a charity working on the front line of the hostile environment puts its energy next, and make sure those decisions reflect the realities and aspirations of the people we exist to serve.

Terms of service

You are the key liaison between clubs, match officials, and venues for south London football club.

Wanderers FC are seeking a volunteer to help coordinate our fixtures throughout the season (September - May).

This role entails;
- Being the main point of contact for match details for the club

Key Responsibilities

• Research and identify suitable funding opportunities aligned with Compassion’s mission and objectives.
• Prepare and submit high-quality funding applications, grant proposals, and expressions of interest.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with funders, grant-makers, and sector partners.
• Develop a pipeline of funding opportunities and maintain records of applications and outcomes.
• Work closely with leadership to understand organisational priorities and funding requirements.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic funding plan.
• Monitor funding trends, opportunities, and sector developments.
• Support reporting requirements for successful funding applications where required.
• Maximise opportunities to secure sustainable income for the charity.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven experience in grant fundraising, bid writing, or income generation within the charity or voluntary sector.
• A strong track record of securing funding from trusts, foundations, statutory bodies, or corporate funders.
• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce compelling and persuasive funding applications.
• Strong research, planning, and organisational abilities.
• The ability to build and maintain productive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• A self-motivated and proactive approach to work.
• An understanding of the challenges faced by charities and the domestic abuse sector would be advantageous.
• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider team.

Remuneration

This is a self-employed position offering 15% commission on all secured funding generated through successful applications and funding bids.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What we need from you

• supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers
• planning fundraising events and activities with your team
• allocating tasks before and during fundraising events
• keeping financial records from fundraising events
• encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

Time expectation

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Our Cat welfare team leaders have the important role of coordinating, encouraging and supporting teams of fosterer volunteers and cat care volunteers. They help make sure volunteers with direct cat care roles are happy and confident and provide advice and guidance when needed. What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Volunteering alongside colleagues including the branch coordinator/team leader, Cat Welfare team, branch development manager and Vet team to ensure that cat care policies, procedures and standards are applied
• Support fosterers to follow cat welfare policies and procedures
• Acting as the main point of contact within the branch for cat welfare and ensuring that welfare updates are shared and implemented effectively
• Supporting the branch by ensuring that accurate and up to date records of all cats helped are maintained, using specified systems
• Attending relevant volunteer training sessions and encouraging other volunteers to do likewise
• With the other volunteers, recruit, induct and support all branch fosterers and cat care volunteers
• Represent the branch at relevant meetings
• Play an active part in the branch committee, being part of the branch team leading on cat adoption information and updates
• Collaborating with the cat adoption team leader to ensure the highest standards of cat care are applied in line with our policies and procedures

Time expectation

The time expectation for this role will vary depending on the number of volunteers and cats in care. Our cat welfare team leaders usually spend between 10 to 12 hours per week in this role which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

About the role: 
 
We are looking for people to help lead and coordinate from within the team promoting callobration. And build our online community externally.We are volunteer led and manage 65+ volunteers across the country, most of them remoately. We have a very diverse team of volunteers from all different culture, religons and disabilities.
