Volunteer roles in Hook

The e-Assessment Association Ltd. (eAA) is seeking committed and experienced members to join its Board of Directors and help shape the future of e-assessment. 

Following the Association’s incorporation as a company limited by guarantee in 2025, the Board plays a critical role in providing strategic leadership, governance and oversight, ensuring the eAA continues to deliver positive impact for members and the wider assessment community. 

Three Director positions will become vacant in September 2026: 

• Two Ordinary Director roles, to be filled by Ordinary Members 

• One Organisational Director role, to be filled by an Organisational (Sponsor) Member. 

Directors are appointed for a three-year term, as part of the eAA’s annual rotation system, which balances continuity with fresh perspectives.

The Role of a Director 

Directors collectively support the delivery of the eAA’s objectives, including professional support for the sector, positive advocacy for technology in assessment, the development of good practice, and awareness-building across the global assessment community. 

The role involves: 

Always acting in the best interests of the Association 

• Contributing to Board discussions, decision-making and strategy 

• Providing constructive challenge and assurance 

• Contributing in practical ways where appropriate 

The expected time commitment is approximately 4–6 hours per month, including Board meetings and preparation. 

A Skills-Led Recruitment Approach 

The eAA Board operates on the principle of collective capability. No individual Director is expected to cover every skill or area of expertise. 

Recruitment is therefore skills-led and informed by the Board’s Skills Matrix, which identifies areas of strength, gaps and emerging risks at a collective level. Each recruitment round focuses on strengthening priority capability areas, ensuring the Board remains effective, balanced and future focused. 

Applicants are encouraged to be open and proportionate when describing their skills and experience, focusing on how they would complement the existing Board.

• Depending on membership type: 
  Ordinary Members must be nominated by two other Ordinary Members
• Organisational Members may nominate an employee to apply as an Organisational Director

Application process

All applications are reviewed by the Nominations Committee, which: 

1. Verifies eligibility and completeness 

2. Reviews applications against the agreed skills priorities 

3. Invites shortlisted candidates to meet a selection panel 

4. Takes up references 

5. Makes recommendations to the Board 

The Board makes the final appointment decisions, and all applicants are informed of the outcome.

2. Dance & Movement Volunteer – Join the Rhythm!

Love music and movement? Come support our inclusive dance sessions, where energy,

expression and laughter take centre stage!

We’re looking for volunteers to help participants enjoy dance workshops — assisting

facilitators, encouraging participation, and bringing good vibes (two left feet totally

welcome).

No formal dance training needed – just enthusiasm, empathy, and a smile. Weekly or

fortnightly sessions in Newbury.

3. Media & Videography Volunteer – Capture the Magic

Do you love filming, editing, or digital storytelling? We’re looking for a Media &

Videography Volunteer to help us record our creative projects — from drama rehearsals to

live shows!

You’ll help:

• Film workshops and performances
• Edit short highlight videos
• Support participants in learning basic media skills

Perfect for someone studying film, media, or digital content – or anyone who just loves

telling real, human stories.

4. Sewing & Creative Crafts Volunteer – Make It, Stitch It, Create It!

Our creative sessions often need props, costumes, and set pieces – and that’s where you

come in! If you can thread a needle, use a glue gun, or just love a good craft table, we’d love

your help.

You’ll help with:

• Sewing, painting, making props
• Supporting costume and set creation for shows
• Helping participants with craft activities

5. Refreshments & Support Volunteer – The Real Hero Behind the Scenes!

Every creative session needs someone who keeps the kettle boiling and the smiles flowing.

We’re looking for friendly volunteers to help with:

• Making refreshments
• Setting up and clearing spaces
• Chatting and welcoming participants
• Helping out during art or music sessions when needed

Perfect if you’re warm, organised, and love being part of a joyful, creative environment.

6. Music & Performance Volunteer – Make Some Noise!

Got a love for rhythm, song, or sound? Join Interakt’s music and performance sessions —

where everyone’s a star.

You’ll help:

• Play an instrument, sing, or help participants explore music
• Support rehearsals and performances
• Help record or mix simple audio pieces

You don’t need to be a pro – just ready to share your enthusiasm for music and community.

7. All-Round Creative Support – Multi-Skills Volunteer

If you love variety and want to dip your toe into everything, this one’s for you. One week

you might be filming a rehearsal, the next helping paint props, or supporting a dance class.

Every day is different — and every moment counts.

We're looking for African, Black and minoritised women of any age to mentor the next generation of changemakers tackling violence against women and girls.

You don't need to be an expert or hold a fancy title. You just need to:

• Have a genuine interest in mentoring and supporting young women
• Care about ending gender inequality
• Identify as an African, Black or minoritised woman

As a mentor, you'll be matched with a Fellow aged 18–30 as she leads her own social action project over the course of a year. Our Fellows work across a wide range of projects–from social media campaigns and books to event hosting, community workshops, and more–so whatever your background or experience, there's a Fellow who could benefit from what you bring.

You will be expected to keep in contact with your mentee throughout the year, be available via your preferred contact method, and attend online meetings with your mentor once a month. You are also encouraged to attend an in-person event in mid-December where the fellows pitch their social action projects.

Your guidance, lived experience, and encouragement could be the thing that makes all the difference.

Help4Homeless is seeking experienced professionals to join our Management Committee (also known as Trustee) and provide strategic governance for our youth-led charity. Committee members guide our direction, ensure proper governance, and help us make informed decisions that maximise our impact.

This is genuinely low commitment. No operational responsibilities, no fundraising targets, no hands-on delivery — just strategic governance and decision-making. One hour a month, and we mean it.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in monthly governance meetings (online or in person)

Our vision for volunteering

Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you! 

You can expect us to

• Make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours
• Support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection
• Cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
• Provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!
