Our small friendly Charity Shop in South Westminster

As well as being an important source of revenue for the Centre, the shop on Horseferry Road is the public face of the Cardinal Hume Centre to the residents and workers of Westminster. It can be a very busy environment with lots of regular customers. You will be part of a friendly, international team!  You will receive excellent support and opportunities to learn team skills and customer service.  You can obtain a reference for future employers.

How does this role make a difference?

You will be part of the fundraising team, raising funds to support the work of the Cardinal Hume Centre and promoting the work of the Centre to the public. Typically, the Charity Shop raises in the region of £50,000 per year.

What will you be doing?

Flexibility will be given where possible, but in general, volunteers will undertake the following tasks as part of this role:

· Customer service on the till

· Cashing up at the end of the day and walking the takings round to the reception and handing in to Finance Team

· Greeting and helping customers

· Replenishing the stock on the shop floor

· Sorting donations

· Helping present top items in window display and around the shop

· Promoting the work of the Centre to the public

What are we looking for?

No special qualifications are needed to work in our shop, as relevant training will be given, however, we will be asking for the following qualities:

· Over 16+

· Good spoken English needed – at least Entry Level 3

· The ability to contribute to a positive team culture and atmosphere

· Be able to provide a friendly, high-quality service to customers

· A commitment to equal opportunities and to treating all individuals who visit or work in the shop with dignity and respect

· Physically fit - able to lift light bags and boxes and to comfortably use the stairs between the shop floor and the stock room.  Manual handling training will be given.

What is the time commitment?

The shop opening hours are 10am – 4.30pm, Monday – Friday.  A full or half day (10 – 1pm or 1 – 4.30pm) is ideal, but we are flexible and are grateful for even a couple of hours help each week. Ideally, volunteers will commit to a period of at least 4 months.

How will you be supported?

· You will be supported and trained in all areas of retail and customer service by the Charity Shop Manager and the Assistant Shop Manager.

· You will receive a Centre induction from a Volunteer Coordinator

· You will be reimbursed for reasonable and agreed ‘out-of-pocket’ expenses such as travel and also lunch if working a full day.

· For volunteers who stay for more than three months, we are happy to provide a reference.

About the role:

We’re looking for a woman to volunteer to lead our Board of Trustees, to work with other trustees and our CEO to shape our future supporting and empowering women. Women from global-majority/minority-ethnic communities are especially encouraged to apply.

If you can think and lead strategically, help us plan long-term, you have the primary skills needed by our Chair. Support from our employees is always available, as they will be dealing with the day-to-day running of the organisation.

Experience of committee or similar work, an understanding of cooperative leadership and a strong focus to shape the forward-looking Board, are what we are looking for. You don’t necessarily need prior experience of charity trusteeship, as induction will be provided, plus specialist guidance as a new trustee, including access to external training.

This is a high-profile appointment, with strong commitment to the future of Reading Community Learning Centre an essential quality, and having a good understanding of the value for the women we help. Trustees make the top-level decisions for our charity: our Board includes women with understanding, skills and experience of our support, and we require new trustees to have empathy with our cause. 

We are a charity not a business, but we apply business principles to governing our organisation. We're looking for an Events/  Marketing Professional with ideally three years’ experience in events and /or digital marketing, ideally in a high net worth/ philanthropy/luxury goods environment. We are looking for a finance professional to join our engaged and friendly board as Treasurer, with specific oversight of the charity’s financial management. While day-to-day financial administration is carried out by employees or external providers, the Treasurer works closely with them and the Board to ensure sound financial governance. The Treasurer provides financial leadership, helps trustees understand the organisation’s finances, and ensures that the charity meets its financial and statutory obligations.

You will have a qualification in Financial Management, Accounting, or Audit, or perhaps be a senior Finance Manager or Director in a charity. We welcome applications from people for whom this is their first Treasurer role, but we are seeking candiates who have some understanding and/or experience of the charity sector.  We are willing to provide access to training around the treasurer role, but a basic knowledge of charity accounting and financial management would be a strong advantage.

You will have the ability to communicate financial information clearly to those without financial expertise and be a strategic thinker, with the ability to balance financial scrutiny with broader trustee responsibilities.

Our board meet once a month (either virtually or in person in London) for around 90 minutes. We aim to have strategy days twice a year. Financial Governance & Oversight

• Ensure that GFS operates within its financial policies, charitable objects, and legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., Charity Commission guidance).
• Oversee the financial strategy of GFS and provide leadership to the Board on financial planning, sustainability, reserves, and investment decisions.
• Review and monitor financial reports, management accounts, and forecasts, ensuring the Board receives clear and accurate information to support decision-making.

Budgeting & Reporting

• Work with the CEO and finance staff to review the annual budget and recommend it for Board approval.
• Oversee the preparation of annual statutory accounts and ensure timely submission of all regulatory filings.
• Present the annual accounts at the AGM in a clear and accessible way for members.
• Ensure that financial information is understood by all Trustees, supporting good collective financial stewardship.

Risk & Control

• Oversee financial risk management processes, including internal controls, cashflow, reserves, and investment management.
• Ensure GFS maintains appropriate financial procedures, controls, and delegations.
• Provide scrutiny and challenge where needed to support robust governance.
• Committee Leadership, Co-Chair the Finance and Fundraising Committee

Collaboration & Support

• Act as a key support to the Chair on matters requiring financial insight.
• Work in partnership with the CEO and finance staff, acting as a sounding board while respecting the boundary between governance (trustees) and operations (staff).

Our challenge
Brain tumours do not discriminate and they do not respect boundaries. They can strike anyone, at any age. And they strike quickly.

The Support Team at The Brain Tumour Charity are aiming to address the clear gap in emotional support available to those affected by a brain tumour diagnosis, by expanding their counselling service. We know the difference that talking therapy can make and our goal is to reach more people, ensuring everyone that wants it, gets the support that they need.

How can you help?
As a Counselling Assessment Volunteer for this service, you will be the first point of call for new clients entering in to the service. This role will require you to talk to a wide range of people - from those newly diagnosed, to others at end of life and also bereaved. As a Counselling Assessment Volunteer, you will be required to:

• Carry out pre-booked counselling assessments with clients who have self-referred themselves into the counselling service
• Gather information through the assessment about the client’s circumstances, explore their needs, explain how the service can help and discuss with them whether the counselling service is suitable
• Confidently follow our safeguarding process, to ensure risk is assessed and appropriate steps are taken to safeguard each client’s well-being
• Observe confidentiality in line with our organisational policy
• Keep accurate and appropriate records on our internal database

We’re looking for...
Someone who is empathetic and supportive in nature, and who is excited by the opportunity to bring this counselling service to the wider brain tumour community. You will also need:

• Experience in providing emotional support to others, perhaps through another role focusing on bereavement, mental health or life limiting illnesses
• Ideally have had previous training in counselling, mental health first aid, or other relevant course
• Ability to work autonomously
• Relevant IT skills in order to maintain appropriate and accurate records on our counselling database
• As this is a home-based role, you will need access to a telephone and computer that you are happy to use for this service

Practical considerations
You will receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and any specific training for the role, as well as ongoing direction from one of the team, who will be your key contact. We carry out references for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Volunteers will be required to complete some internal training, data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18. We may close applications early if we recieve a high number of applications for this role. What are we looking for?

iProbono seeking a Treasurer, a new Trustee who will strengthen our dynamic governance board and help shape the next chapter of our growth. Our Trustees work with a leadership team that values creativity, empathy, and pragmatism in delivering justice solutions to the most vulnerable people in our communities. As Treasurer, you will provide strategic financial oversight, ensure sound governance, and support the organisation’s long-term sustainability. Trustees are directors of the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight of financial management and sustainability.
• Serve as Chair of the Finance Committee, working closely with the CEO, senior management and external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and governance responsibilities in line with charity and company law.
• Support the leadership team in setting and monitoring budgets and managing financial risks.
• Contribute to the overall strategic direction of iProbono as an active Board member.

Person Specification

Essential

• Accounting qualification from a recognised UK body (e.g. ICAEW, ICAS, ACCA, or CIMA).
• Experience in financial management, auditing, or charity finance, ideally within an international or non-profit context.
• Experience serving on the Board of a civil society organisation, with close involvement in governance, finance, or legal oversight.
• Understanding of or experience working in the Global South, particularly South Asia.

Desirable

• Experience working with fundraising professionals, knowledge of donor landscapes, or the ability to open doors to new funding opportunities.
• Interest or experience in the fields of justice, legal empowerment, and capacity-building.

Commitment:

Our Treasurer should be based in the United Kingdom is expected to attend:

• Four quarterly Board meetings in London;
• Four Finance Committee meetings in London; and
• One annual strategy day.

Some Board meetings may be attended virtually. This is a voluntary position and reasonable travel expenses are covered for those travelling from outside London to attend meetings.

About Circular Kitchens

Circular Kitchens is a social enterprise and membership platform designed to help restaurants, cafés, pubs, food stalls, and other catering businesses become fully circular: Plastic Free, Ecological, Local, and Zero Waste.

By working with the hospitality sector, we are helping regenerate local communities, strengthen regional food systems, and increase demand for ecological and regenerative agriculture in the UK. Our current focus is launching Circular Kitchens in Whitstable and supporting our first mover restaurants to achieve 3 Star Circular Kitchens certification. Based on learnings from this pilot, we are preparing to scale across the UK, growing our environmental and social impact.

Role Description

We are seeking a volunteer to support our operations and early-stage platform development, with a focus on how we manage restaurant tools, pledges, and audits using Coda.

Initially, the volunteer will have the opportunity to support updates to our existing Coda database to reflect new language, helping ensure outdated wording is replaced in line with our latest templates and that language is consistent across the platform.

As they become familiar with the structure, the volunteer may also contribute to the design of a Master Coda Document to help centralise data currently spread across multiple sections. This work supports the early foundations of a scalable platform designed to support hundreds of Circular Kitchens members over time. The role may also include light “vibe programming,” using AI tools to assist with formulas and logic within Coda tables.

An Ideal Candidate Will Be:

• A student or recent graduate with an interest in computer science, sustainability, business, data analytics, or a related field

• Technically confident (e.g. comfortable working with digital tools, spreadsheets, or information management platforms like Coda)

• Comfortable working with evolving, early-stage systems

• Well organised with strong attention to detail

• Interested in digital systems, platforms, or operational design

• Curious about startups, social enterprise, and/or sustainability

• Interested in learning and using AI tools to support “vibe programming” and contribute to more complex platform development over time

This is a voluntary role with a flexible time commitment, offering the opportunity to contribute to the operational backbone of a growing social enterprise and work closely with the founding team on systems designed to have real-world impact.

Hopscotch Women's Centre is seeking a new Chair of Trustees at an important and exciting moment in our journey.

We are a values-led organisation working at the intersection of violence against women and girls, gender justice and equity, and we are now looking for an experienced and dynamic Chair to support our next phase of development.

This role would suit someone who has previous experience as a Chair, or substantial senior governance leadership, and who is confident in providing strategic oversight, strong governance, and supportive challenge. The incoming Chair will line-manage a first-time CEO and work alongside a Board that includes several first-time Trustees—all of whom are deeply committed, passionate, and motivated to learn and lead well.

We are particularly keen to hear from individuals who:

• Bring a strong intersectional feminist lens to governance and leadership
• Understand the realities of trauma-informed practice within the VAWG sector
• Have lived experience of minoritisation and can bring this insight meaningfully into Board leadership
• Are attuned to the current political, funding and policy climate affecting specialist women’s organisations
• Lead with empathy, clarity and confidence, and enjoy supporting others to grow into their roles
