Hybrid volunteer roles

OOEF is a small, fast-growing charity and we need people to help us run it well. You can do this on-site with us — in which case you will the magic in action — or remotely, or a mixture of both. Volunteer scheduling, communications, grant applications, impact reporting, events, partnerships... or whatever else you spot needs doing and are motivated to get involved with. No music background needed. We are looking for someone organised, reliable and genuinely interested in what we do.

About the role

Orchestra of Everything Foundation (OOEF) delivers free, immersive music education to around 250 children aged 7–11 at two Bath primary schools in Twerton and Whiteway — nationally ranked deprived communities. Our impact is off the scale: school leaders tell us that 86% of children show improved attitudes to learning across all subjects, and we have been instrumental in a 39% reduction in pupil suspensions. Our work has caught the attention of the Department for Education, and Bath Spa University now incorporates our model into teacher training.

As an Operations & Admin Volunteer you might focus on one area or help across several, depending on your skills and availability: volunteer scheduling, communications, grant applications, impact reporting, events and partnerships. This role can be shaped entirely around you. If you want to be on-site — watching sessions, being part of the team, seeing the impact first-hand — we would love that. Volunteers who come in consistently tell us it is the most motivating thing about the work. But if remote or flexible working suits you better, that works too.

• Organisational ability and initiative — keeping multiple things moving without always being asked

• Any of the following are a real bonus: bookkeeping, design, research, fundraising, project management, web skills

Time commitment

The time commitment is flexible and entirely negotiable — from a couple of hours per month to something more regular. Some volunteers come via employer volunteering schemes on a rota (companies and organisations are very welcome); others commit as individuals on an ad hoc basis; others come as students fitting volunteering around their studies. We will shape the arrangement entirely around your availability.

The Charity Outreach Worker will deliver structured youth development sessions as part of the Pathways to Purpose programme, supporting young people aged 16–25 to develop employability skills, improve confidence, and transition into employment or further education.

The role focuses on direct programme delivery, participant engagement, and mentoring, ensuring beneficiaries receive practical, skills-based support aligned with the charity’s educational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Programme Delivery
– Deliver weekly structured sessions focused on employability skills, including communication, confidence building, and career readiness
– Facilitate interactive workshops covering CV development, interview preparation, and workplace expectations
– Support the delivery of both online and in-person programme sessions

Participant Engagement & Support
– Provide one-to-one mentorship to assigned participants, supporting their personal and career development
– Guide participants in identifying strengths, setting goals, and progressing through the programme
– Encourage consistent attendance and active participation throughout the programme

Career Readiness Support
– Support participants in developing CVs and preparing for job applications
– Conduct mock interview sessions and provide structured feedback
– Share practical insights on workplace expectations and professional behaviour

Outreach & Community Engagement
– Engage with young people within the community to promote participation in the programme
– Support programme awareness through community-based engagement activities
– Represent the organisation positively during programme delivery and outreach activities

Programme Impact Support (Non-Admin Framing)
– Contribute to tracking participant progress through structured session feedback and engagement observations
– Support the measurement of programme outcomes such as participation, skill development, and progression into employment or education

Person Specification
Essential:
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills
– Experience working with young people or in community-focused roles

The Ocean Regeneration Trust (ORT) is looking for dedicated individuals to join our Board and help shape the future of the Ocean Estate in Stepney. As a legacy successor for the NDC regeneration of the area, we work hand-in-hand with residents and stakeholders to ensure the social, economic, and physical regeneration of our vibrant community. 

About the Roles

We are currently recruiting for two types of Board Members:

Independent/Specialist Members: Professionals who do not live on the estate but bring specific expertise to strengthen our governance.

Community Impact: Support 10 year objectives i.e. the implementation of NHS/Public Health initiatives such as neighbourhood health and wellbeing, capacity building for the local Voluntary and Community sector, employment and skills and strategic expertise in housing and welfare changes.

Governance: Attend Board meetings (at least 4–5 times per year) and contribute constructively to decision-making.

Meetings: Held at the Harford Street Multicentre, E1 or online (hybrid)

Why we want you
As branch secretary you help coordinate a range of activities and a calendar of events to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community. To ensure that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

What you will be doing

• Communication with branch volunteers
• Providing timely reports and information to SSAFA’s central office
• Co-ordinating a programme of meetings including an AGM, branch meetings, committee meetings, training etc..

The skills you need

• Friendly and approachable
• Strong administration skills
• Great written and verbal communication skills
• Basic IT skills
