EAUC is the leading body for sustainability in the post-16 education sector in the UK and Republic of Ireland. The EAUC board has twelve volunteer trustees. Two vacancies will arise following the AGM this year due to board members reaching their maximum tenure.

We welcome applications from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. We seek people who are committed to our mission, purpose and values, and who bring one or more of the following:

· insights into the further education or skills sectors

· cross sector organisational leadership insight

· experience in sustainability academic and/or research

Impact Communications & Content Strategist

We are looking for a volunteer Impact Communications & Content Strategist to help shape how we communicate our work globally.

Red Diamond Compost develops regenerative agricultural solutions by converting organic and invasive biomass into high-performance inputs that rebuild soil health and strengthen climate resilience. Our work includes field trials, farmer training through the Journey to 1000 Acres initiative, and international research collaborations.

This role will focus on guiding our overall content and messaging strategy using a “pillar-to-micro” content model, where long-form content (field updates, talks, research insights) is structured and repurposed into multiple formats across platforms.

Responsibilities may include:

• Identifying strong content opportunities from our work (field trials, research, insights)
• Developing clear messaging and storytelling frameworks
• Helping structure content for multi-platform distribution (LinkedIn, video, blog)
• Guiding how technical results are communicated to broader audiences
• Supporting consistency in brand voice and positioning

This role is ideal for someone interested in climate innovation, storytelling, and helping translate real-world impact into clear, compelling narratives.

Blog Writer / Content Writer (Sustainability & Climate)

We are looking for a volunteer Blog Writer to help translate our work into clear, engaging written content.

Red Diamond Compost develops regenerative agricultural solutions and conducts research, trials, and farmer training initiatives. This role focuses on turning insights, field experiences, and technical information into accessible articles and written content.

Responsibilities may include:

• Writing blog posts and articles based on our work and insights
• Converting video content and discussions into written pieces
• Translating technical research into clear, reader-friendly language
• Supporting thought leadership and educational content
• Editing and refining existing written materials

This role is ideal for someone passionate about sustainability, agriculture, climate solutions, and storytelling through writing.

People & Planet is looking for volunteers to assist with compiling its 2026/27 People & Planet University League; the only higher education ranking that classifies based on ethics and climate justice criteria.

Universities impart skills and knowledge, form life-long beliefs and behaviours, act as centres of communities, employ, house and feed large numbers of people and promote the creation and sharing of knowledge. We believe this makes them uniquely placed to lead on environmental and ethical issues. For this reason the People & Planet University League has been running since 2007 and has been published by high-profile media partners such as The Guardian (2021, 2022. 2023, 2024, 2025), The BBC, and whose data is used in the Sunday Time Good University Guide.

Volunteers will research publicly available university documents and assess universities against our marking criteria, which cover a wide range of climate and social justice issues including decarbonisation, fossil fuel divestment, ethical banking, workers’ rights and environmental management among others. This work will help to incentivise the university sector towards taking immediate and appropriate action on the climate crisis and upholding the rights and wellbeing of all people internationally.

The role will develop and improve the following areas:

• Qualitative research skills

• Attention to detail

• Use of data collection software

• Time management and keeping to deadlines

• Working independently and remotely

• Communication skills

• Knowledge of environmental management processes and sustainability reporting.

Training is provided for the role. We believe the skills and experience gained could be valuable for a number of career paths, including working in NGOs, corporate sustainability, estates management, higher education policy making, research and campaigning among many others.

People & Planet would like to support volunteers in their future careers, so will give all volunteers an official reference letter on successful completion of their placement and will act as a referee for future positions for which you may apply. From last year’s cohort, 100% said they would recommend this position to someone who wanted to add experience to their CV.

Person Specification -the following are essential:

• Access to a computer or laptop and internet connection.

• Familiarity with desk-based research.

• Able to communicate needs with staff at People & Planet and if needed, ask for appropriate support to complete tasks in time.

• Ability to search policy documents for specific information in English.

• Awareness of current issues in sustainability and ethics.

• Experience of research and data collection.

• An interest in higher education policy.

Please note anyone employed by a UK university cannot volunteer as a Researcher.

You will need to commit to

• Two 25 hour weeks of remote work in July and August.

• 5 hours work per day for the two week period. Volunteers can manage their own time flexibly and will receive support from People & Planet, but must meet task deadlines on a weekly basis and attend a short daily meeting. Volunteers are free to work evenings and weekends, but please note People & Planet operates a 4 day week from 9-5.

• One induction session the week prior to your 2 week engagement.

• Completion of a self-access standardisation activity prior to the start of your engagement.

• Attending a brief meeting in the morning or afternoon each day and one individual check-in meeting in week 1.

• Checking the work chat function regularly.

We have an opportunity for a volunteer based in our Salisbury office to support our busy supporter care/membership team. You will help the team to ensure our members and supporters receive the highest standards of care and an excellent experience.

What you will be doing

This dynamic opportunity could involve anything from answering supporter queries and letter stuffing, to updating supporter records, filing and researching.

Location – This role is based at Plantlife Head Office in Salisbury, Wiltshire, so we are looking for a volunteer who is based in or around Salisbury. Ideally, we would prefer someone who lives in close proximity to our office.

Time commitment – We are looking for someone who can volunteer one day per week with us in our Salisbury office, aiming to give 5 hours or more (Wednesday or Thursday).

At Chestnut Tree House we will be opening a brand-new Kitchen Garden to supply produce to our hospice kitchens. There are large beds which will cultivate vegetables as well as an area for fruit bushes and trees. An activities area with raised troughs for the children, young people and families to enjoy planting will be at the centre, with paths around the fruit and vegetable beds.

We are looking for someone with passion and knowledge to help us keep the area in tip top condition maintaining and developing the space.

As a Climate Ambassador, you would be joining thousands of volunteers supporting the Department for Education’s Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy, launched in 2022.

Climate Ambassadors offer free support to nurseries, schools and colleges across England to develop and implement a climate action plan. This framework helps education settings evaluate and address key action areas – adaptation and mitigation, biodiversity, climate education and green careers, and decarbonisation.

If you have: 

• A desire to create coordinated impact in your local community, while utilising your employer’s volunteering leave (where applicable); 

• Knowledge about the sustainability and climate challenges facing the world; 

• Familiarity with education settings, or the ability to inspire senior leaders, educators and young people to set out on their sustainability journey; 

• A growth and mentorship mindset to help education communities begin or progress with their climate action plan,

You will receive training, guidance and regular communications from our regional teams to make the most of the climate action opportunities on your doorstep. You can get started by volunteering just 2 hours a year.

1. Complete an initial interest form and your regional team will be in touch to support your registration on the STEM Learning platform; 
2. Receive induction, your DBS check and your Climate Ambassador training; 
3. Identify activities you would like to support and post about them on the STEM Learning platform, or browse activities requested by your local schools! 

Your regional team will get in touch suggesting a good match to a local setting seeking support relating to your area of interest or experience. You can also upskill through the Sustainability Leadership Programme to unlock new areas of expertise.

About The Role

At WWT we shape unforgettable experiences. We are a warm, welcoming and genuine charity that protects and restores Wetlands. WWT Martin Mere has 600 acres of amazing wetland scenery which is home to such an assortment of wildlife. 

We are looking for volunteers who can support our team in our Café and shop to ensure we offer excellent customer service to our visitors.

By providing excellent customer care in our shop, you will be encouraging our visitors to support the wider conservation work of WWT. The money that is taken in retail is instrumental to the conservation work that WWT can afford to carry out.

Outdoor Learning Volunteer Officers are a key part of our team at Skelton Grange Environment Centre and are involved in:
- Supporting and leading environmental activities with young people and the local community.
- Planning and preparing sessions - and sometimes even developing new activities to help young people connect with nature.
- You will be trained and supported by experienced project staff and work as part of a team with paid staff, trainees and other Volunteers.

Typical activities for the Outdoor Learning Volunteer role include:
- Running environmental education sessions for school visits during term time.
- Running play activities for groups of children and young people during the school holidays.
- Keeping education day resources up to date and developing new resources, activities or materials as required.
- Helping with the general running of the centre and the project, including both development work and routine maintenance to ensure we are an inspiring location for visitors to experience nature.

This position is open to anyone with a keen interest in Friends of the Earth and our local campaigns in the borough of Camden. We are looking for people interested in environmental and sustainability issues and environmental justice in the Camden community who enjoy assisting in the organisation of events.

Duties:

The events assistants will provide support in our events as part of a team, including tasks like:

• Assisting with the execution of various charity events and campaigns

• Helping with the preparation of events and campaigns

• Attending meetings with the group and events such as FoE marches 

• Setting up event spaces, including decorations and signage

• Addressing any issues that arise during the event and providing immediate solutions

• Collecting event data and feedback from attendees

• Assisting with post-event reporting

About The Role

As an Activities and Events volunteer, you will play a vital role in assisting staff leading a variety of fun, interactive and nature-based activities aimed at family groups, especially children, and also helping with aspects of our adult-friendly walks and talk programme that runs throughout the year. 

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You’ll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.
