Volunteer roles for the Education sector

We are looking for English teachers or tutors to provide one-to-one, group or asynchronous lessons to Palestinians aged 13+ and adults for at least 3 months. All volunteers must complete training before they begin. 

The autumn term will run from 13/09/26 to 20/12/26.

What will you be doing?

• Applying the concepts learned through trauma-informed and emergency education training. 
• Delivering weekly 90-minute lessons, plus 30–60 minutes of preparation for at least 3 months.
• Creating a supportive, positive learning environment.
• Tailoring methods to individual learner needs.
• Filling in a weekly check-in form to track attendance and student progress.

What are we looking for?

What difference will you make?

This role is crucial because it enables Palestinian students to learn English, French and German alongside volunteers from around the world. Proficiency in French opens the door to a wider range of work and educational opportunities. Students can work for humanitarian organisations on the ground or find remote opportunities. Furthermore, proficiency in French enables students to contribute to their community and have their voices heard on the global stage.

Prison-based volunteers are the backbone of Fine Cell Work (FCW). Supported by the Fine Cell Work programmes team and by other staff at the FCW office, they teach and administer FCW stitching groups in prisons.

Prison volunteers work in teams to organise classes and teach our stitchers, as well as providing information about the group to the prison and to the FCW office. The precise mix of skills will vary from prison to prison.

Volunteering in prison for Fine Cell Work requires ideally a good level of needlework skill (or a willingness to learn), some teaching experience and/or experience of working with socially-excluded groups. Volunteers must be patient and non-judgemental in order to work effectively. As a prison volunteer you will be:

• Developing skills and confidence
• Teaching prisoners to stitch FCW products within the framework of our training programme
• Encouraging and supporting prisoners to volunteer as class coordinators and peer mentors
• Encouraging and helping prisoners who wish to undertake their own creative projects

It is essential for volunteers to support FCW's ethos, believe in rehabilitation, be an excellent teamworker, observe personal boundaries, be reliable and patient to ensure cell groups run smoothly, and have record-keeping skills and have some knowledge of needlework.

Volunteers work in prisons around the UK dependent on where groups are based, therefore it is requred that volunteers will be able to travel to the relevant prisons. Travel expenses will be reimbursed by the charity.

KLS is looking for a Treasurer Trustee to bring financial insight, sound judgement and strategic challenge to our Board. What You’ll Do

• Guide Board-level understanding of KLS’s finances, risks and long-term sustainability.

• Chair the Finance Committee and help turn financial information into clear, confident decisions.

• Provide Board level scrutiny of budgets, management accounts, reserves, cash flow, controls and annual accounts, including reviewing income and expenditure, monitoring restricted and unrestricted funds, and supporting year-end reporting.

Who We’re Looking For

• Financial confidence, curiosity and clarity, with the ability to read the numbers and ask thoughtful questions.

• Ability to help others engage with finance in a practical, accessible way.

• Experience in finance, accountancy, audit, risk, grant management, charity finance, trusteeship or the voluntary and community sector.

• Understanding of charity finance, including monitoring restricted funds, reviewing management accounts, supporting reserves policy, preparing for audit or independent examination, and helping trustees understand financial risks.

• A professional accountancy qualification is welcome but not essential if you have broader financial leadership or governance experience. 

• Previous trustee experience is desirable but not essential.

You'll onboard new creators, run our content calendar and review process, and keep a thriving group of creators supported, inspired and consistently producing content that reaches the exact audience we exist to serve. Key tasks

• Community management - Own and energise our creator community keeping it warm, active and supportive; welcome new creators, spark introductions, and encourage creators to learn from and uplift one another.

• Onboarding - Identify and reach out to potential creators, run friendly 1-2-1 welcome calls, share the vision and welcome pack, and bring new creators into the fold with as low a barrier to entry as possible.

• Content coordination - Run the content calendar end-to-end: agree each creator's posting frequency and dates, keep the Notion tracker current.

• Creative support - Keep creators inspired with prompts, content ideas and themed series (e.g. Freshers, exam season), and offer tailored concepts to those who want them while protecting each creator's own style and voice.

• Mentorship & belonging - Coordinate regular calls with the team, and help every creator feel like a genuine part of Team Roots.

• Tracking & reporting - Track creator output and reach, monitor how creators are driving students toward Roots workshops, and report progress and feedback.

What you'll do

As a Fundraising Officer, you may:

• Organise and support fundraising events within your local community.
• Build relationships with local businesses, organisations and community groups.
• Identify new fundraising opportunities and campaigns.
• Encourage supporters to take part in challenge events and community fundraising.
• Help promote our Lifesaver Lottery and regular giving initiatives.
• Assist with donation collections and awareness events.
• Work alongside our Communications Team to promote fundraising campaigns.
• Thank supporters and help recognise the incredible contribution of our donors and fundraisers.

You'll have the opportunity to develop fundraising initiatives that directly support the charity's mission and make a measurable difference.

You'll work closely with our Communications Team and wider charity to showcase the impact of our volunteers across the North West.

Whether you're looking to give back to your community, gain valuable experience, or be part of an inspiring team, this flexible volunteer role offers the opportunity to make a real impact.

What you'll do

As a Support Volunteer, you may:

• Assist at community events, shows and fundraising activities.
• Support CPR and defibrillator awareness sessions.
• Help set up and pack down equipment at events.
• Engage with members of the public and promote the charity's work.
• Assist with administrative tasks and operational support where required.
• Support fundraising campaigns and community initiatives.
• Represent the charity in a professional, friendly and approachable manner.

No two days are the same, and you can choose opportunities that fit around your availability.

What we're looking for

We're looking for enthusiastic individuals who are:

No previous medical or emergency response experience is required—full induction, guidance and ongoing support will be provided.
