1. WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
Release Therapy for Women provides safe, therapeutic spaces for women across Sussex. Our groups are the heart of what we do, and our Therapeutic Group Support Assistants play a crucial role in ensuring these sessions run smoothly.
You will work alongside a Lead Facilitator to create a warm, inclusive, and physically comfortable environment.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Creating a Welcoming Space
* Environment Setup: Arrive early to set up the therapeutic space, ensuring it is tidy, welcoming, and comfortable.
* Sensory Awareness: Pay attention to lighting, noise levels, and seating arrangements to support our neurodivergent participants and those with social anxiety.
* The "Warm Welcome": Greet participants as they arrive, particularly focused on making new members feel at ease and helping to serve drinks.
Supporting the Session
* Facilitation Assistance: Support the Lead Facilitator with practical tasks (handing out materials, managing refreshments, or keeping time).
* Participant Support: Provide a calm, grounded presence. While you are not the primary therapist, you may offer one-to-one emotional support (e.g., sitting with someone who needs a moment outside the circle).
* Closing the Space: Assist in packing away and briefly debriefing with the Facilitator after participants have left.
Inclusion & Data
Actively model inclusive behaviour, ensuring women of all ages, faiths, and sexual orientations feel safe.
* Equality Monitoring: Assist in the distribution of our anonymous Equalities Monitoring forms. In line with our 2026 vision, you will help explain to participants that their data helps us secure the funding needed to keep our groups free for everyone.
3. PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge and Experience
* Counselling Foundation: You have previous counselling experience or have undertaken introductory counselling training.
* Therapeutic Understanding: An understanding of (or a strong interest in) the group therapeutic process and the importance of boundaries and confidentiality.
* Inclusive Values: A deep commitment to equality and a passion for making therapeutic spaces accessible to marginalised groups.
Skills and Abilities
* Empathy & Presence: A calm, grounded, and non-judgemental approach to supporting women in distress.
* Reliability: The ability to commit to a full 6–10 week group cycle to provide continuity of care for our participants.
* Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a Lead Facilitator.
* Local Insight: Ideally, you will live in or have strong ties to Brighton, Worthing, or Shoreham/Southwick.

FareShare Greater Manchester is looking for volunteer Driver's Assistants to join our busy friendly delivery team with redistributing tonnes of surplus food a month to charities and community initiatives across Greater Manchester.
FareShare is a national charity fighting food poverty and global warming by tackling food surplus. We source overstocked food from retailers and manufacturers and engage many volunteers to help re-distribute it to over 220 frontline charities and community groups across Greater Manchester. These groups, in turn, provide meals to vulnerable people experiencing food poverty, individuals who are homeless, families, and people who are unemployed or socially isolated. This food would otherwise have gone to waste, so we are simultaneously supporting people in need and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Key responsibilities
Working closely with the driver of a temperature-controlled 3.5 tonne Mercedes Sprinter van to deliver surplus food orders to the premises of the benevolent projects we support.
Loading and unloading the vehicle and carrying out a range of tasks, from basic vehicle checks to delivery administration.
The required skills and attributes are:

Background information:
Harry’s HAT is a UK-based charity focussing on paediatric hydrocephalus. Our mission is to make life better for children and their families who are affected by hydrocephalus. We work towards this aim through:
• Awareness: raising awareness of paediatric hydrocephalus through workshops and training.
• Research: supporting research and funding training (for front-line medical, health and social care workers) to increase understanding of the condition.
• Signposting and support: directing families affected by the condition to organisations that can offer support, advice and guidance and by providing access to our peer-to-peer programme. We do not, however, provide advocacy.
We currently have a vacancy on our Trustee Board for an individual with experience in fundraising and income generation. The Charity is ambitious about extending its reach and ensuring that more families and professionals can benefit from our work. To achieve this, we recognise the importance of growing and diversifying our income.
Key responsibilities of the role:
• Actively participating in Trustee Board meetings.
• Attending quarterly Fundraising and Risk Group meetings, held in the evening for approximately 1.5 hours.
• Working closely with the CEO to support the fundraising pipeline and to ensure all grant applications complement the mission and values of the charity.
• Working with the CEO and other Trustees to strengthen the charity’s fundraising strategy and ensure it aligns with our long-term goals.

Key tasks

We're looking for a finance assistant volunteer who can support the financial administration of the charity using our finance software, Xero. We The volunteer will support the Chair to undertake regular financial tasks such as budgeting, reporting, and audits while ensuring financial transparency.
Key Tasks and Objectives
- Support the financial management of the Charity using Xero
- Data Entry: Recording financial transactions such as donations, invoices and expenses into our finance software, Xero.
- Weekly Reconciling income into Xero from GoCardless, Stripe, PayPal and other third-party agencies that facilitate donations being made to the charity.
- Maintain financial and accounting records, ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Assist with preparing payroll and/or pension information for submission to an external payroll provider (when required)
- Assist with the preparation of the accounts, quarterly and annual accounts for accountant annually as well as supporting funder financial reports
- Track the financial situation of projects
- Ensure that all necessary financial information is recorded accurately
- Assist with financial forecasting and budgeting
- Document Management: Organising and filing receipts, invoices, and other financial documents (digitally).
- Assist the Chair, volunteers or members of staff in understanding and using the accounting software
- Any other tasks that may be required from time to time or during the final accounts period, as appropriate.

We're looking for Trustees with a range of skills (HR, fundraising and bid writing, governance, strategic planning, impact and evaluation reporting and more) to support the Sheffield ME and Fibromyalgia Group to move forwards and positively impact the lives of our members.
What will you be doing?
We're looking for up to 10 Trustees, including a Chair, to continue the amazing work already achieved.
As a Trustee you’ll have an essential role in contributing towards our journey of change and continuous improvement. We are looking for individuals with an open mind, a willingness to challenge each other and the Manager constructively, a willingness to understand the needs of our members and a desire to positively impact their lives.
In an attempt to increase the diversity of both the Board and the membership, we particularly welcome applications from those aged 30 or under and people of colour; the perspectives of individuals with lived experiences of chronic illnesses is important to us too.
The charity is currently unincorporated but this is a decision that the new Board will consider.
One of the challenges is that the Board and staff team are small, with several Trustees either having chronic illnesses themselves or caring for those that do. With the loss of our last manager, the Trustees have become fairly operational; this new chapter of our journey will re-establish these boundaries, enabling Trustees to be strategic and empowering staff to be operational.
We are also looking for a permanent Manager and will shortly be recruiting an Benefits Adviser, a fantastic service that has a real impact on the lives of our members.
Additional challenges are that we rely on external funding to ensure that we continue to deliver high quality services for our growing membership.
In the coming years we aim to work more closely with local communities and medical practitioners to raise awareness of these conditions, that are often dismissed, reaching many that might not see themselves as having a chronic illness in the first instance. We will also develop our relationship with our members to ensure that the services we provide continue to meet their needs.
Following Covid and the introduction of long Covid as a chronic illness, societal perceptions are changing and more research is being undertaken in this area.

Our Board is currently small and as such we are looking for up to 10 Trustees with skills in a range of areas:
HR and governance: we are currently incorporated but this is a decision we hope the Board will consider. Expertise in these areas will ensure we remain legally compliant
Strategic planning: in addition to having an understanding of our current intentions, the ability to scan the horizon and identify new possibilities will continue to ensure the charity grows
Coupled with individuals with fundraising / bid writing experience, we can continue to deliver our current programme but identify gaps within our provision that benefit our members whilst matching these with potential funders.
Impact and evaluation reporting: as a charity we are brilliant at what we do however we are not so effective at communicating this. Assistance in this area will enshrine our work locally and nationally.
We need to represent our members effectively, undertaking research with our members will ensure that we continue to meet their needs with current and new opportunities. It is important to hear the voices of those un(der)represented. A focus on equity, diversity and inclusion can help us increase our diversity, both as a Board and our membership, ensuring that our support reaches those individuals that require it and that we identify ways of engaging them that are meaningful to those communities.
It is equally important to ensure that the views of those with lived experiences continue to shape the actions of the organisation, be that through ring-fence roles on the Board or a sub-committee that reports directly to it.

Volunteer positions currently available in Lambeth
Hospital Visitor Volunteer
Hospital Visitor volunteers visit hospital settings to ensure that people detained under the Mental Health Act are aware that they have a legal right to an IMHA qualified advocate. The volunteers are instrumental in ensuring that clients get access to an advocate and can also support the work that advocates undertake.
As a hospital volunteer, you might:
- hold drop-in sessions
- attend events and ward meetings at local facilities
- share information
- assist people to request advocacy support by completing a form online or calling our contact centre
All volunteering will take place Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00. You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that there is no opportunity to volunteer at weekends or in the evening.
