The purpose of this role is to support the organisation with communications and administration at a local level. You’ll play an active part in the branch committee and support the branch with record keeping and planning, thus enabling more cats to be helped.

We are seeking a committed and detail-oriented Volunteer Archivist to join our team. As a Volunteer Archivist, you will play a crucial role in preserving, organising and maintaining our archives, encompassing both digital and physical assets.
Our archive and library are permanently housed at our London Office. This role would suit someone working towards an archive or record management qualification, with an interest in social and cultural archives and history.
Main Duties
- To assist in maintaining a comprehensive archive and library encompassing both digital and physical assets representing the rich history CPAG.
- Collaborating closely with the Office Manager and CEO, your role will involve developing an efficient and user-friendly framework for the ongoing management and preservation of the archive.
- Listing, describing and boxing records.
- To develop a basic ‘collections policy’ outlining future collecting and simple archiving procedures for organisational maintenance.
- To use your knowledge of archiving processes to support staff with cataloguing archive contents.
- To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.
- This includes applying archival principles and standards, enhancing the archives research and historical value.
Commitment
The role requires a minimum commitment of at least 3 months, 7-10 hours per week during our working hours (Monday-Friday, 9.00am to 4.30pm).

Swan Lifeline is the oldest registered charity devoted entirely to the care of sick and injured swans in the Thames Valley and surrounding areas, and has cared for over 30,000 sick and injured swans. Our aims are to RESCUE, REHABILITATE and RELEASE injured birds, providing shelter and treatment for up to 180 at a time, returning them to the wild as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities
1. General Administrative Support:
· Taking rescue calls and dispatching rescuers
· Managing general public enquiries
· Volunteer scheduling – via a rota
· Managing vehicle records, booking MOT’s, Insurance.
· Managing rescue statistics.
· Maintaining and improving (eg: digitise) office systems (eg: filing).
2. Programme Support:
· Scheduling outreach sessions and liaising with external community groups.
· Assist in booking other individuals (eg: work experience) and groups (eg: schools) for visits to Swan Lifeline and build calendar of events.
3. Financial and Fundraising Administration:
· Assist with basic financial tasks eg: invoices, and expenses.
· Helping Fundraiser Manager with Grants admin.
· Ordering food and supplies.
4. Communication and Outreach Administration:
· Volunteer outreach and feedback.

Without managing our office and administration efficiently we will have significantly less time and resources to support swans who desperately need our help and face an uncertain future as a result of the Nature emergency and Avian flu. Our Cat Welfare Team Leaders have the important role of coordinating, encouraging and supporting teams of fosterer volunteers and cat care volunteers. They help make sure volunteers with direct cat care roles are happy and confident and provide advice and guidance when needed. This incredible teamwork means we are able to help more cats and kittens in need.
What can you expect to be doing?
- Volunteering alongside colleagues including the Branch Coordinator, Cat Welfare team, Branch Development Manager and Vet team to ensure that CP cat care policies, procedures and standards are applied in branch
- Support fosterers to follow Cats Protection cat welfare policies and procedures
- Acting as the main point of contact within the branch for cat welfare and ensuring that welfare updates are shared and implemented effectively
- Supporting the branch by ensuring that accurate and up to date records of all cats helped are maintained, using specified Cats Protection systems
- Attending relevant Cats Protection volunteer training sessions and encouraging other volunteers to do likewise
- With the other volunteers, recruit, induct and support all branch fosterers and cat care volunteers using Cats Protection processes
- Represent the branch at relevant meetings
- Play an active part in the branch committee, being part of the branch team leading on cat adoption information and updates
- Collaborating with the Cats Protection Cat Adoption Team Leader to ensure the highest standards of cat care are applied in line with Cats Protection policy and procedures

VOLUNTARY GRANT FUNDRAISER
Alex TLC is a trusted and experienced organisation offering support and information for all those affected by leukodystrophy. Leukodystrophies are rare genetic disorders that mainly affect the white matter of the central nervous system, (ie the brain or spinal cord). They affect people of all ages and backgrounds, most notably children. Leukodystrophies are usually degenerative, causing symptoms such as impaired mobility, vision, speech and hearing, incontinence, inability to swallow and loss of cognitive skills. In many cases, this sadly means a reduced or limited lifespan.
Established in 2004, we are recognised by the NHS and global stakeholders as the "go to" organisation for those affected by these devastating conditions in the UK.
Like many other small charities, we have grown organically from an informal support group to the recognised voice for leukodystrophy patients and their families. To fulfil our charitable objectives, we need to increase and sustain our grant income levels.
Could you spare a few hours a week to help us?
ABOUT THE ROLE
Working with our Trusts and Grants Fundraiser, we are looking for volunteers, preferably with experience of grant fundraising, to:
- research potential grant making trusts for relevance to our specific objectives
- send applications using existing templates
- update our systems with details of applications
This is a wonderful opportunity to develop your existing skills within a unique arena, learn about the difficulties facing those with rare disease, and give vital and tangible support to sufferers of leukodystrophy.
We need your help to give hope and support to people affected by leukodystrophy.

- Acting as the main point of contact within the branch for cat adoption enquiries via email / telephone and social media
- Supporting the adoption process through either homefinder questionnaires or a small team of home visitors

What will you be doing?
Our Helpline volunteers will work in shifts to ensure that our helpline is always staffed for our community.
Are you able to listen with empathy, understanding and without judgement? If so, you could play an important role as a volunteer for the Chronically Marvellous community. We are always in need of dedicated volunteers to join our growing service, to provide an ear to those who feel isolated and in need of support.
Our Helpline offers support to people in many ways: through signposting to other services, by offering a friendly chat at any time of day, for example. It is a crucial service and is often the first point of contact for people with chronic illnesses who need support.
The role will include:
Being the first point of contact for incoming calls, handling the calls sensitively and professionally
Being empathetic, non-judgemental and offering a friendly listening ear
Signposting to other relevant trusted services if appropriate, or noting down a need so that we can assess them for our services
Ensuring that relevant data is recorded after each call
Escalating any concerns via the appropriate channels and seek support when needed.
You will receive training and ongoing support in this role.

Chronically Marvellous has grown quickly in the last 6 months, and our Founder Tash needs an administration expert to handle our office tasks.
The Administrator/Secretary will work closely with Tash, managing all behind-the-scenes paperwork and organisation. They will often be working remotely, but location close to Twickenham would be an advantage for visits to head office.
What will you be doing?
Issuing Mobility Aids: You will be keeping accurate records of our inventory, who is assigned stock, and responsible for ensuring that we replace stock when needed.
Customer service: You will be one of the contacts for our service users, whether this be for enquiries, for information about events, or to help with philanthropy.
Governance: We are a CIC with the potential to convert to a CIO, so paperwork within this role may be used to support our application (along with the CEO and trustees support).
Events: You will help us to plan events in the area, including our regular support groups, as well as our one-off fun days and training events.
Secretary: You will be the right-hand-person to Tash, who comes up with brilliant, ambitious ideas 24/7 (sometimes too ambitious!) so you would support her in this, as well as being a voice of reason!
The organisation keeps growing and adapting as we learn what our community needs as well as what we can provide, so this role will inevitably grow and adapt too. We would love to have some on join us who has initiative and can take ownership of certain tasks so that Tash can delegate some from her role.

Who are we looking for?
Organisation: You will be a very organised person, who can make order out of chaos! At the moment, our records are in good shape, and we would love to keep them that way. We'd love a reliable person who we know will ensure the integrity of the administration side of the organisation, and someone with initiative to say when a process isn't working.
Administration: You will have experience in a supporting administrative role, where you know what to expecting working in an office environment, as well as remotely. Our organisation's staff and volunteers are mostly in London, as well as across the UK and abroad, so being able to liaise in various formats will help you in this role.
Secretarial acumen: You will work very closely with Tash, who's mind runs about 100mph on most days. There will be ad-hoc tasks required, but within the remit of an administrator.
Fundraising: This role is not a fundraising one, however, every person involved with Chronically Marvellous is expected to assist with fundraising in some way. This could mean sharing social media posts for crowdfunding, attending our fundraising events and helping out, or by directly helping our fundraising team, if that's something you are interested in.
This is a voluntary position, so we recognise that any time given to us by a volunteer is precious, and for that we are incredibly grateful.

Chronically Marvellous is motivated by making a difference to the lives of people with chronic illnesses. Firstly, this role will greatly help our Founder to have less weight on her shoulders, so that she can focus on partnerships and truly getting to know the community. Our advice line is a vital service to people experiencing domestic abuse and is available 24 hours. To help us provide the best possible service, we are looking for volunteers to help support this coverage.
Working closely with our trained team of experts, advice line volunteers will offer callers reliable information, friendly support, and useful signposting. Volunteers would need to be available for approximately 2 hours on a regular basis each week, during either our daytime (9am to 4pm) sessions or evening (4pm – 10pm) sessions. After a period of training, this role can be carried out from home or from our Northampton refuge.
Please note that this is a new voluntary role within NDAS and as such it will change and evolve whilst it is being developed and put into practice.
NDAS envisages the following as a guide.
You will be:
- Committed to supporting callers facing domestic abuse situations.
- Responsive and sensitive to the disclosure of domestic abuse and mindful of issues relating to risk, confidentiality, and information sharing.
- Mindful of boundaries after disclosure; working with systems and processes internally and externally whilst understanding the limitations of the role.
- Able to sensitively gain information from callers and be able to follow the provided procedures for handling calls.
- Able to relay information clearly and concisely whilst using our case management software.
You will NOT:
- Be responsible for DA cases or concerns.
- Be expected to be a ‘specialist’ in this field. Instead, you will be supporting the existing team and taking details from callers for our specialists to then contact.
- Be left without support – trained members of staff are on hand to always offer advice and support.
What we’re looking for:
- An excellent telephone manner is essential as is high level of computer literacy.
- You must have a genuine desire to help people.
- The ability to work calmly in a pressured situation.
- You will need to be patient, empathetic and non-judgemental.
- You will be discreet with the information that’s shared with you.
- You will be accepting and won’t discriminate against anyone, for any reason.
At NDAS we welcome applications from a wide range of applicants.
There are no pre-requisites for this role and we don’t expect you to be an expert in domestic abuse to volunteer with us. Extensive training will be provided before you begin your volunteer role, along with ongoing, regular support. However, knowledge, understanding or experience that complements the role is always beneficial – be sure to include this in your application, as there is often strong competition for our roles.
We would appreciate any time you are able to offer. If you can commit to regular hours (such as 2-3 hours per week) we would be delighted to discuss ongoing projects that might interest you. As it takes an amount of time and resource to welcome new volunteers on board, we would appreciate it if you pledged to support us initially for a minimum of 6 months.
