ABOUT THE ROLE
Working closely with the Grants Managers and under the Head of Fundraising and other members of the senior Volunteer Grant Team, the Grants Coordinator (Unpaid Volunteer) will research, write grants, maintain, and coordinate fundraising efforts for AHO, with a target of a £5m yearly income by the end of 2030.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The role of Grants Coordinator (Unpaid Volunteer) will research, maintain and coordinate
- Research, write and manage a pipeline of trusts and foundations, aid grants and public sector tenders and contracts that offer unrestricted and programmatic funding.
- Initiate new and manage existing relationships with trusts and other grant-making bodies through emails, calls, meetings, and attendance at events.
- Organise and lead regular fundraising meetings with the Head of Fundraising and the senior team.
- Write and lead on applications, bringing together information and expertise from colleagues as necessary.
- Lead and manage the reporting process to existing funders, bringing together input from colleagues as necessary.
- Attend and assist with public-facing events organised by AHO or others when necessary.
- Work with the senior team to write compelling concept notes and presentations for new areas of work.
- Work with staff and Volunteers across AHO to produce compelling and successful fundraising bids.
- Closely monitor deadlines for applications and reporting, proactively and confidently liaising with relevant staff for timely and high-quality submissions.
- Identify new opportunities for unrestricted and project funding from a range of sources, including trusts, grants and charitable foundations; European, national and local government; individual supporters; and commercial opportunities.
- Develop and maintain general content and resources in line with branding, such as presentations and texts for staff to reference and share with potential funders.
- Contribute to quarterly Board papers through pipeline updates and the CEO's report.
- Contribute on an ad hoc basis to any other reasonable activity as requested by senior staff.
- Very occasional travel to Africa and other Diaspora for work with our sister organisation, AHO EU and to regions in England where colleagues are based.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Key Competencies
- Experience in awarding, managing or applying for grants.

- Strong knowledge of UK, EU, and US legislation, accounting requirements and good practice relating to grant awarding and reporting.
- Experience in using a CRM system or database.

- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to assimilate and digest large volumes of information.
- Strong attention to detail and strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage workload effectively and to work with changing priorities and time pressures.
- Ability to occasionally adjust working hours to fit with multiple time zones as required.
- Strong written and communication skills. You will be able to present information in a compelling way through proposals, memos and PowerPoint presentations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people from different cultures and backgrounds
- Desire to contribute to new ideas and ways of working to develop improved models, processes and use of technology in grant-making.
- Outstanding partnership management skills, with the ability to support and establish highly collaborative internal and external partnerships.
- Experience with databases/grant-management systems is desirable but not necessary.

- Ability in English, French, Arabic, Portuguese, Swahili, and Chinese is desirable but not necessary.

Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.

The Ark is a local charity providing activities and services in Berkshire, centred in Bracknell Forest. Primarily a Disabled People’s Organisation, we also provide support to unpaid carers and extended family as well as engaging in work that promotes access and inclusion in the wider community.

As we grow in scale and ambition, strong and imaginative financial leadership is more vital than ever. This role is central to ensuring our financial resilience, shaping strategy, and guiding us through change while staying true to our mission. To support both the Trustee Board and the Management team at The Ark Trust in developing, evaluating, delivering and funding our work we are seeking an experienced Finance practitioner to act as a Finance Strategic Friend.
While this is not a Trustee role, our new Finance Strategic Friend will play an integral part in our governance structure. They will sit on the Trustee Board and Chair the Finance sub-committee, working closely with the Board and the CEO to provide strategic leadership in ensuring strong financial governance and resilience at The Ark Trust.
The Finance Strategic Friend will oversee the monitoring of the organisation’s finances on behalf of the Board, and act as a trusted advisor to the CEO—supporting sound financial planning and compliance, while helping to ensure the charity’s financial health aligns with our future ambitions.

Position Overview
We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an entry level development professional who is interested in gaining skills in operations and administration areas, to join SEED Madagascar (SEED) as our Operations and Administration Officer.
SEED Madagascar is a UK charity dedicated to creating long-term, sustainable change in partnership with communities in the southeast of Madagascar. We integrate high-quality community health, WASH, education, rural livelihoods and conservation programmes, while contributing to international best practices through research and publications.
This role is an office-based role within a team of national and international staff with occasional support in the field to our Conservation Research Team. This post is at the heart of our mission, and the diversity of activities undertaken will provide wide-ranging experience for an early career development professional who can effectively and efficiently deal with a comprehensive range of tasks related to the complex world of overseas development.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about providing a wide range of support to SEED’s team including providing high quality administrative support across the policies and procedures, managing the recruitment of international staff, leading on onboarding for incoming staff and our marketing and support of our short-term conservation programme volunteers.
Title: Operational Support Intern - change of title and responsibilities to Operational Support Junior Officer subject to passing 3-month probationary review.
Location: Fort Dauphin, Madagascar
Commitment: 12 months; Monday to Friday (35 hours a week)
Salary: Voluntary for 12 months, with stipend of 800,000 MGA per month towards accommodation and a contribution of £650 towards insurance
Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide pre-departure logistical support and advice with visas, hotels, flights, accommodation, medication etc to new international staff and short-term conservation volunteers

Lead on supporting international staff during their initial time with SEED including arrival, orientation, social inclusion, cultural understanding, housing and integration into the SEED team

Provide pastoral care, working with line managers to ensure that new and existing international staff and volunteers’ wellbeing is supported

Support the Conservation team in Sainte Luce on providing orientations and pastoral care of volunteers when required

Support on creating, editing and writing website content and resources to ensure organisational and project information is up-to-date

Support on the recruitment of international staff, including the advertisement of vacancies

Patient Lead

Role Summary
Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual to serve as Patient Lead. This voluntary leadership role is central to ensuring that the patient voice is embedded in all aspects of their work. The Patient Lead will represent patients on their Board, chair the Patient and Public Engagement Network (PPEN), and guide the team of patient representatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent the patient voice at their Board and Executive meetings.
- Chair and lead the Patient and Public Engagement Network (PPEN).
- Develop and deliver the PPEN’s programme of work, focused on improving outcomes for surgical patients before, during, and after surgery.
- Collaborate and build relationships with a diverse range of clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to influence perioperative care policy and practice.
- Champion the views and experiences of underrepresented and marginalised patient groups, ensuring their voices inform perioperative care policy and practice.
- Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making from a patient perspective.
- Participate in bi-weekly virtual leadership meetings and quarterly in-person or virtual board and executive meetings.
- Inspire, support and mentor the patient representatives.
- Contribute to their communications (e.g. blogs, presentations, articles, interviews).

Purpose of Role
The Communications Officer will play a key role in ensuring effective internal and external communication across Emerge Worldwide. Would you like to help RSPCA Buckinghamshire South Branch raise money locally by moving stock between our two shops, taking excess stock to storage and collecting donations from local businesses?
If you have a valid driving licence, can spare 2-3 days a week, and live in or around South Bucks, you could support our vital work.
Our volunteer drivers get to meet a variety of RSPCA staff, volunteers, and animal care professionals in the South Bucks area. You'll also get a buzz knowing that your efforts are directly helping animals.

Organisation: Support U is a leading LGBTQIA+ resource and support service based in the Thames Valley area.
Location: Bracknell / Reading
Commitment: 2–3 hours per week (either a weekday evening or weekend morning) either weekly, or bi-weekly.
Overview:
“Research commissioned by Stonewall shows that too many LGBTQ+ people still don’t feel welcome playing or watching sport”. We aim to change this, which is why we are launching an LGBTQ+ football club in Bracknell and/or Reading to give people the opportunity to participate in team sports in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed volunteer coaches to help us deliver fun, accessible, and inclusive football sessions for the local LGBTQ+ community.
This role is perfect for someone passionate about football and physical exercise, community sport, and creating safe spaces for people who may otherwise find traditional team sports intimidating.
What You’ll Be Doing

Planning and delivering weekly football sessions (e.g. training drills, friendly games).

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Volunteers to join our new monthly drop in group in that take place on Hainault Forest Community Association, monthly on Thursdays. 11 an-1 pm starting on Thursday 9th Oct 2025. The Say Aphasia charity provides support groups across the UK for people with aphasia; a language and communication disability caused by a brain injury like a stroke. Aphasia affects over 350,000 people in the UK but is little understood or known about by the public. It is the only aphasia charity set up by people with aphasia for people with aphasia; helping them to adapt to their new way of life and regain their independence and confidence.
Aphasia occurs due to injury to the brain such as a stroke. It affects access to language, resulting in difficulties following conversations, speaking, reading and writing.
Volunteers will support the running of the group with communicating, and will have the opportunity to utilise their communication skills and IT knowledge to take a register of attendance.
Responsibilities
- Provide companionship and support to individuals, particularly those living with asphasia.
- Assist in organising activities that promote social interaction and engagement.
- Communicate effectively with participants, ensuring their needs are understood and met.
- Help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
- Collaborate with other volunteers to enhance the group.
