This is an exciting time for The Wye Catchment Partnership as we seek to appoint an experienced, committed and passionate chairperson to drive forward improvements across key issues on water quality, wildlife and sustainable land use in the River Wye Catchment. We will achieve this by collaborative working framed by a new Catchment Based Approach Plan.
The time commitment is for 1 to 2 days per month

Role Description
1.0 Introduction
The Wye Catchment Partnership (WCP) recognises the importance and value of an independent Chairperson for its quarterly meetings and to attend the WCP Steering Group meetings.
We’re seeking a person who’ll be motivated to maximise the potential of the whole WCP community, to strengthen its voice and activities for the benefit of the river Wye, and the whole catchment.
We believe this role will be ideal for someone who has worked in large or complex professional environments or academia but now wants to provide volunteer work that will benefit the environment and the community.
WCP meets quarterly at venues generally on the Wales England border. The Chair is also invited to attend Steering group meetings held quarterly via Teams between WCP meetings.
This role is unremunerated except for travel expenses.
2.0 Background
The Wye Catchment Partnership is not an executive body or legal entity. It is established to convene collaborative working to deliver a Catchment Based Approach (CaBA) that drives improvements across key issues on water quality, wildlife, and sustainable land use along the length of the River Wye and the breadth of its catchment.
Dealing with these issues in an environment of rapid political, social, technological, ecological and climate change brings added levels of complexity.
The Partnership is currently supported by 70 organisations as well as individuals and has a mailing list of around 170 contacts.

3.0 Governance – Process for recruitment
The WCP Chair recruitment and selection process is outlined below. Initially for a period of 12 months and thereafter on an annual agreement of the WCP. The target start date is July 2024.
The Terms of Reference 2024 (Page 5 Item 4.5) outline the role of ‘Chairing of meetings’
4.0 Role Requirements
4.1 Chair quarterly Partnership meetings – These are usually held mid-week at a venue close to the Welsh Borders and the River Wye, for example at Hay on Wye, attended by up to 50 people and typically run from 9.30-2.30pm
In-person travel expenses are provided at 45p per mile.
4.2 Preparation of the Partnership meeting agenda and planning for the day, ahead of meetings with the Vice Chair and the administrator from the Wye Catchment Partnership as required
4.3 Attend Partnership meetings requiring 1 day of your time 4 x per year.
4.4 Attend the 4 x WCP Steering Group meetings (for continuity with Chair role) – these are held online 3-4 weeks after the Partnership meetings and take 1.5 hours.
In total this role may involve a time commitment of 1-2 days per month, focused on the Partnership meetings.
5.0 Areas of responsibility
- Working in partnership and collaboration with members of the WCP
- Fostering an environment for the WCP to co-operate in a spirit of reciprocal partnership, trust and respect to support the fulfilment of WCP mission and purpose and the delivery of the agreed Catchment Plan.
- Overseeing the consideration of matters of key interest to the WCP network and providing advice and perspective to the WCP.
- Ensuring, with the Steering Group, sound financial oversight including review of the annual budget.
- Safeguarding the reputation and values of WCP in your communications.
Occasionally representing WCP at meetings and functions and acting as a champion and spokesperson.
6.0 The Candidate
To enjoy, and be successful in this role, the skills and experience you need are:
- The ability to chair large meetings efficiently and effectively. You will have been used to working at this level but now see an opportunity to Chair a group that cares passionately about the environment within the Wye Catchment.
- Excellent communication skills, including tact and diplomacy.
- An impartial and objective approach.
- Facilitation skills are likely to be required at times including the ability to guide discussions without dominating and to blend differing views to achieve consensus.
- Emotional intelligence to read people and manage constructive challenge
- An ability to network and build relationships at all levels across the WCP network.
- A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and its importance both within WCP and in the countryside.
- An understanding and passion for the Wye Catchment and appreciation of what it means to those who live in it and those who depend on it.
- Background knowledge of English and Welsh government and policies would be an advantage

Title of role: The Money Charity Trustee
Location: Based at home although the office is in Clapham, London
Working with: Board of Trustees, CEO & senior management team
Hours/days: Approximately half a day to a day a month, including a quarterly board meeting
Purpose of role

We have an experienced and passionate board who provide us with expert leadership and governance. However, we are currently lacking trustees with expertise gained in the charitable sector. We are therefore looking for trustees who have executive-level charity or education experience. Ideally we are looking for trustees who have expertise in any of the following: fundraising/income generation, digital marketing, the charity sector and education/teaching. We are not expecting one individual to bring expertise in all areas. But the new trustee(s) should provide leadership and experience to the board on leading and growing a third sector or education-based organisation, as well in-depth expertise to the charity as a whole in at least one of the specific areas of experience above.
What work will I be doing as a Trustee?
- Provide thought leadership and new ideas from the third sector or education sector, contributing a third sector perspective to our board discussions
- Providing expertise on the areas of fundraising, education, digital marketing
- Perform the usual duties of a trustee, including:
- ensuring that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these
- being responsible for the performance of the charity and for its ‘corporate’ behaviour; ensuring that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
- undertaking an ambassadorial role for The Money Charity where opportunities arise
- attending quarterly meetings of trustees

- reflecting annually on the board’s performance and your own performance as a trustee
- As a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity, all Trustees are required to fulfil the legal responsibilities as a trustee, in addition to the legal responsibilities of being a Director of a company in England and Wales
What experience and skills will I need to do this role?
- Successful track record in the areas of fundraising and/or business development in a charitable organisation and/or experience in digital marketing or education
- Experience of working at a senior management/leadership level
- Demonstrable and practical experience of training or coaching to enable others to grow their skills and confidence
- Extensive networks, with a willingness to draw on contacts as appropriate
- Ability to work as part of a team and willingness to take collective responsibility for the governance of the charity

VocalEyes is an arts organisation and charity that works with and for blind and visually impaired people. We are looking for new trustees to join our Board.
We are looking for candidates with the ability to think creatively and strategically, and exercise good, independent judgement in helping us achieve our ambitions. Whilst you do not need to have prior non-executive experience, we are looking for individuals with a good grasp of governance and strategic leadership.
Candidates should:
- Understand and accept the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of being a trustee
- Be committed to AVP, its purpose and its values as set out in the constitution, strategic aims and values statement
- Be willing to devote the necessary time and effort to the role of Trustee

Specifically, we are looking for one or more of the following areas of experience and expertise in our new trustees: Safeguarding, Fundraising.
Although you are under no obligation to do so, ideally you would volunteer within this role for a period of a three year term. This will help you get the most out of the experience and provide some consistency for the charity.
Main duties and requirements of the Trustee role
1. Act with integrity and avoid personal conflicts of interest
2. Act jointly with other Trustees
3. Agree to undertake limited projects from time to time dependant on your own specialism
4. Provide guidance on issues in which you have particular expertise
5. Accept joint responsibility for all decisions made by Trustees
6. Consider getting external professional advice on all matters where there may be material risk to the charity, or where the Trustees may be in breach of their duties
7. Act reasonably and honestly, ensuring that discussions and debates are minuted to demonstrate the reasonableness of decisions made
8. Have the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries in mind at all times
9. Attend all meetings and communicate with the Chair about necessary absences
10. Seek to inform yourself about all aspects of AVP’s work

The day-to-day management of GNDR is carried out by a Secretariat of 32 employed staff, led by the Executive Director, currently based in Teddington, South West London, with two thirds of the staff located in regions around the world. It is a registered charity and company under UK law and has five trustees. Meetings with the GNDR Global Board of Regional Representatives occur on a quarterly basis. Trustee meetings are held online three times a year, and trustees do not have to be UK based. We are looking for an additional trustee with finance experience to join the governance of this exciting network.
Main purpose of the Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees has ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of GNDR, ensuring it is solvent, complying with UK charity law and delivering its objectives, as detailed in GNDR’s Articles of Association.

Overall scope of the role
Each trustee member is recruited for their particular skills and perspectives and they should be proactive in supporting the Trustee Board, the Global Board and the Secretariat by using those skills. Trustees serve a minimum of three years.
Individually, trustees have the following responsibilities:
- To be true to the values of GNDR and act as a role model while serving as a trustee.
- To safeguard and reflect GNDR’s vision and ethos, strategy and policies at all times.
- To build strong, collaborative working relationships with other trustees and Global Board members
- To remain aware of the duties of a charitable trustee as outlined by the Charity Commission
- To sign a Declaration of Interests each year
- As appropriate, to make introductions for GNDR staff for promotional and fundraising purposes
- As appropriate, to speak for GNDR at events, whether in-house or public, whether at GNDR’s request or on the back of the trustee’s own engagement
For this particular trustee role, we are especially keen to hear from individuals from a risk and finance background – ideally with an accounting or finance qualification.
Person Specification
Essential criteria:
- Experience of successfully dealing with strategic issues
- Sound judgement and ability to think corporately and strategically; ability to handle competing priorities and making informed decisions
- Interest in international development and relief, with a focus on disasters
- Experience of working with international accounts, risk management or fundraising
Desirable criteria:
- A good knowledge of relevant general legislation and statutory requirements, including charity law, employment law and/or health and safety law
- A thorough knowledge of financial management, accounting best practices for UK and compliance with the associated regulation
- UK-qualified Chartered Accountant
- Good networker and able to leverage professional networks in support of GNDR objectives when required, in particular for contract development and funding opportunities
Remuneration
The post is not remunerated; i.e. it is a voluntary and unpaid position.
Expenses
All out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed; this will include reimbursement of travel costs to all meetings, mobile or home telephone calls on trustee business, printing and photocopying costs at home on trustee business and all other reasonable costs incurred whilst carrying out the duties of being a GNDR trustee.
Trustees may, at their discretion and without setting any precedent for future activities, choose not to claim expenses if they wish to support the charity in this way.
GNDR will also pay for trustee indemnity insurance.
Terms of office
The term of office is three years. Trustees may serve additional terms of office, subject to agreement from the Board of Trustees.
Expected time commitment
The time commitment for this post is expected to be at approximately five days per annum plus preparation time, including attendance at all trustee meetings (three meetings per annum of 2-3 hours each) and Global Board meetings (four meetings quarterly including a three-day face-to-face meeting), and membership of one of GNDR’s working groups (either Finance and Audit or Resourcing, depending on expertise, meetings 1/4 day each, four per annum).
Optionally, attendance at our bi-annual global summit (two days plus international travel), at trustee training events (circa one day per annum) and other one-off events, meetings and planning days as required.

GNDR will provide an induction programme for all new trustees, as well as an opportunity to meet Secretariat staff.

Trustee duties
Trustees are the people who lead our charity and decide how it is run. We envisage the trustee duties broadly as:
- Support and provide advice on EIDA’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.
- Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.
- Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
- Oversee EIDA’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
- Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
- Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
- Review and approve EIDA’s financial statements.
- Provide support and challenge to EIDA’s CEO.
- Keep abreast of changes in EIDA’s operating environment.
- Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect EIDA’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third-party interests.
- Participate in periodic appraisals of the performance of the Board of Trustees, collectively and individually.
- Represent EIDA at external functions, meetings and events.

Students4Students is a member led national organisation which has c.100 members split across 4 branches. As a CIO it has a duty to engage with members and provide members the opportunity to elect trustees and hold the leadership to account for decisions at an AGM. Historically these AGMs have been ill attended and election of Trustees have been decided by a small number of members who hold branch committee positions. Students4Students wants to improve the level of participation in our internal democracy and ensure that AGMs are appealing and relevant to all members.
The organisation also wants to increase engagement with its members, all year round, outside of the AGM. Students4Students is looking to build new channels of engaging with members, ensuring trustees and leadership are held to account throughout the year.
Responsibilities and duties
The post-holder will be responsible for engaging members in Students4Students internal democracy and ensuring the organisation meets its responsibilities as a CIO
