Job description

Centre for Big Synergy, London, is recruiting volunteers for Big Syn International Film Fest (BSIFF) 2019. We are seeking creative, dedicated and preferably experienced volunteers to drive the PR, Social Media and communication activities of the film festival for the next 3 months to bring the festival to fruition. A minimum of 2 day/week to full time commitment is expected from the volunteers in return for the experience to run an international Film Festival that is helping create positives changes in our society, economy and environment through meaningful films.

Role Title: Social Media Executive

Location: Remote Working / Working from home
Reporting to: Head of 2019 BSIFF organising team
Hours: 8-40 hours per week
Duration: Minimum 3 months

Planning, researching, creating and posting social media content and email communications to increase participation in the Big Syn International Film Festival, donations for chosen charities and sponsorships for the festival.


You will perform tasks like creating artwork, researching contacts and key sponsors or patrons and work with the team to communicate with festival applicants, generate engaging content across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & Linkedin. You will also identify gaps & needs, feedback ideas for improvement, report analytics, and plan workload accordingly.


  • Working with the Big Syn Film Festival's Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin &, Instagram accounts.
  • Contribute ideas for weekly social media posts.
  • Create social media campaigns to drive further volunteer recruitment.
  • Researching key individuals, organisations and events for sponsorships and partnerships
  • Administrate the creation and publishing of relevant, original, high-quality content.
  • Liaise with other team members to gather current content from projects
  • Become an ambassador for BSIFF 2019 in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate.
  • Participate in preparing PR pieces for circulation to press


  • Manage time efficiently
  • Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
  • Knows how to use Photoshop, video editing tools (desirable) or learning to use.
  • Knowledge of online marketing and good understanding of major marketing channels
  • Passionate about volunteering!


  • Report to Head of Film festival's organising team- weekly
  • Address impromptu requests for creating content and carry out research from the organising team
  • Create PR pieces and email templates
  • Create social media posts in advance
  • Research and prepare spreadsheets with details of potential sponsors, partners and collaborators
  • General administration of emailing and collecting documents form film festival applicants and fellow volunteers


  • Increase submission of films for BSIFF
  • Increase followers for BSIFF on all social media platforms
  • Increase volunteer applications  for BSIFF
  • Increase sponsorships and partnership engagements for BSIFF
