South Mitcham Community Association SMCA exists to promote voluntary and community action as a means of improving the quality of life for people in London Borough of Merton.

A place where residents on a low income or requiring services to support them in making healthy lifestyle choices, can go for practical help, guidance, social networking and fun activities. In addition to the general responsibilities duties of the chair include the following.
Providing leadership to the organisation and the board by ensuring that everyone remains focused on the delivery of the organisation’s charitable purposes to provide greater public benefit.
Chairing and facilitating board meetings ensuring:
° A balance is struck between time-keeping and space for discussions.
° Business is dealt with, and decisions made
° Decisions, actions, and deliberations are adequately minuted.
° The implementation of decisions is clearly assigned and monitored.
·Getting all directors involved in the Board’s work

° The Board and staff/volunteers

The Honorary Treasurer is a director of Healthwatch Bucks with specific responsibilities to:
1. Lead the Board in fulfilling its responsibility to protect the financial integrity of Healthwatch Bucks.

Financial Integrity
The Honorary Treasurer leads the Board in protecting the financial integrity of Healthwatch Bucks by:
● Chairing the Finance Committee and, on its behalf, making recommendations to the Board.
● Keeping the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities, ensuring understanding of financial planning and budgeting and current and forecast finances.
● Monitoring and reporting the organisation’s financial health regularly to the Board in line with best practice, complying with its Articles of Association, financial legislation, statutory requirements, contractual obligations and necessary insurance cover.
● Ensuring that the organisation has and complies with up-to-date financial policies and processes including Risk Management, Reserves, Business Continuity and Financial Management & Internal Controls.
● Monitoring cash flow to ensure financial sustainability.
● Ensuring that financial transactions and reporting meet the conditions of contractual and other agreements with commissioners, funders, partners and sub-contractors.
● Acting as signatory or co-signatory in accordance with the scheme of delegation in the Financial Management and Internal Control processes.
● Presenting the financial accounts at the Annual General Meeting and overseeing the preparation of the accounts for statutory submission.
Support & Guidance
The Honorary Treasurer shares the duty of all Board Members to ensure effective policy making, strategic planning and monitoring of the performance of Healthwatch Bucks. Additionally, the Treasurer has specific responsibilities supporting the Chief Executive to ensure that:
● Financial planning processes are maintained and that available financial resources are appropriate to the aims of the organisation.
● Healthwatch Bucks has an effective strategy for generating and accounting for commissioned and donated income to achieve its objectives and manage its expenditure.
● The Board receives all necessary advice on the financial implications of strategic plans and projects.
● The Board is presented with budget statements, management accounts and financial information at all key points in the planning and budget cycle and that issues are outlined in a coherent and easily understandable way.
The Financial Management and Control Policy is kept up-to-date and implemented throughout the organisation.
● Proper procedures are followed for preparing, presenting and filing the annual financial statements.
● The recommendations of external financial advisors are reported to the Board and acted upon.
● Equipment and assets are appropriately recorded, depreciated, maintained and insured.
Representation
The Honorary Treasurer will, as appropriate:
1. Liaise with staff and contractors responsible for the financial activities of the organisation.
2. Represent Healthwatch Bucks with commissioners and sub - contractors, partners, Healthwatch England, bankers and members.
3. Act as a spokesperson or signatory for the organisation.
4. Liaise with the independent examiner on the annual management letter and related Board representation.

We're looking for an Honorary Treasurer to join our valued Board of Trustees who will play a pivotal role in ensuring IPEM is well governed and complies with all financial legislation and good practice for charities. WK Foundation cares deeply about providing opportunities for young adults from low income contexts through practical skills & socio-emotional training and job opportunities. WKF is a recently registered charity in South London, seeking to add trustees to their board to add skills & bring diverse voices that will best represernt our young adults. Our work is dedicated to reconnecting low income urban communities with sustainable food pathways, with the aim of breaking the cycles of poverty that are perpetuated by dysfunctional food systems. Responsibilities of a Charity Trustee

The Treasurer will be an existing BAPEN member who wishes to take up a volunteer role on the BAPEN Board of Trustees and, with the support of the BAPEN office and the other board members, will be integral in ensuring that it fulfils its obligation to provide financial oversight for the charity.
Role and information
The Treasurer will be supported by the Board of Trustees and the BAPEN office who act as the secretariat and will provide comprehensive support with administration and finance to enable the treasurer to carry out the following tasks:
Draft and present annual budgets, financial statements, reports and annual accounts to the Council and the wider membership at the AGM, with the support of the finance expert in the BAPEN office.
Work with the BAPEN office and the Board of Trustees to ensure that the financial resources of the charity are sufficient to meet its present and future needs.
Ensuring that current policies, including investment, reserves and finance policies are kept up-to-date, working with support from the Board of Trustees, and to monitor investment activity.
Work with the BAPEN office to ensure that existing accounting procedures and controls remain appropriate and are in place.
Work with the Trustees to identify the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plans and contribute to the fundraising strategy.
Make investment recommendations in line with the aims and objectives of the charity.
Ensure that the accounts are prepared and disclosed as required by the Charity Commission.
Work with the BAPEN Accountants to ensure that the accounts are scrutinised in the manner required (independent examination or audit) and any recommendations are implemented. Independent auditors are currently in place.
Keep the Board of Trustees and the committees informed about their financial duties and responsibilities.
Approve supplier payments, expense requests, monitor income and expenditure against budget and work with the BAPEN office to report on variables.
Work with BAPEN’s appointed legal support surrounding contracts and other legal matters when required.
The Treasurer is registered as the Caldicott Guardian for BAPEN.
A significant shadow period with the current Treasurer will help ensure a positive learning opportunity to gain confidence in this role. Comprehensive administration support as well as finance advice and expertise will be always at the Treasurers disposal. Support will also be provided on policy, budgeting, and strategy from the Board of Trustees.
BAPEN will also fund bespoke Financial Trustee training to equip the successful candidate with all the necessary skills to fulfil the role. The training can be delivered online or in person and support will be provided on an ongoing basis.

What is a Branch Treasurer?
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas. These are divided into small local areas that we call divisions. Each branch has a treasurer overseeing the divisions that, in turn each have a treasurer of their own. This is a key role involving financial planning and financial administration.
Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles and fundraisers.
One of the key ways we help people is by tapping into various sources of funding on their behalf. Monitoring and reconciling this flow of funding into and out of SSAFA accounts is important to ensure clients receive timely support and we are able to account for all charitable funds in our care.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home. This flexible role involves using our on-line financial management system and on-line bank accounts and so can be done when and where suits you best. You will need to attend a number of branch committee meetings each year.
What would you be doing?
- Maintaining and reconciling local bank accounts and recording transactions
- Supporting divisions to manage their local finances.
- Making and recording all authorised payments
- Preparing year end accounts and financial statements including arranging an independent review
- Working with the branch secretary, advise on a local fundraising programme to cover branch running costs.
- Identify and manage the return of any surplus monies from grants as appropriate.
- Providing reports to the branch committee and to SSAFA’s Central Office
- Maintaining accurate records using our on-line finance management system
- Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer, or fundraiser.
- Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

This is a wonderful opportunity to lend your experience to a pioneering organisation that supports young people up to the age of 25 who are at risk or involved in Serious Youth Violence. The Violence Intervention Project (V.I.P) has been pioneering new approaches to working with young people involved in serious youth violence (SYV) since 2017.

- Help govern and advance the overall purpose of the charity in line with the Charity Commissions requirements.
- Oversee a specific committee and ensure it is carried out in legal, honest and accountable ways.
- Support staff team in operational implementation of each committee’s strategies and policies.
- Strategically work with CEO and Senior Leadership Team. Overseeing, approving and monitoring the financial standing of the charity and presenting financial reports to the Board regarding the organisation’s financial resources.
- Overseeing the charity’s financial risk-management process and reporting financial health to the Board of trustees at regular intervals. T
- Taking a strategic view to financial planning whilst also ensuring compliance and control processes are in place. Being assured that the financial resources of the charity meet its present and future needs.
- Attend regular board meetings.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for our new Treasurer to have the following skills and experience:
- A background in Financial Management/Accountancy. Knowledge of charity finance is an advantage but otherwise individuals with sound commercial experience and the skills to scrutinise and oversee the accounts of a growing charity, and advise Trustee Board on financial management.
- Skills to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequence
- A willingness to be available to give financial advice and answer enquiries from any staff or volunteers on an ad hoc basis.
- Be committed to the purpose, objects and values of the organisation

Practical Considerations
Evening Board Trustee meetings are held approximately every 12 weeks. We also hold sub-committees every 12 weeks. The total time commitment for a Trustee is at least 1 day per month; induction and training are provided, as is support from an experienced and knowledgeable Trustee and staff team. Trustees are not paid, but expenses are covered. A DBS (criminal records check) will be required.

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Finance Volunteer for our Plymouth and Tamar Valley Group. As a Finance Volunteer, you would be joining a coordinating team of volunteers to plan and deliver services and activities to support people locally.

We are seeking a UK-based trustee to join the board and act as honorary treasurer. This is a voluntary position to work alongside a friendly and passionate group of international trustees to provide governance and strategic direction for the charity.
The board meets 3 or 4 times a year online, with some additional work conducted via email – so you can be based anywhere in the UK. The role requires 5-7 hours of your time per quarter.
You will work with the charity’s Chief Executive to provide easy-to-understand financial information to the other trustees.
You should have a good working knowledge and experience of financial management. You do not need to be knowledgeable about the charity’s mission.
