NIDAS supports women and families with all aspects of domestic abuse with confidential support and a variety of bespoke services. NIDAS, located in Mansfield, helps women to stay safe, grow their self-esteem and go on to build happy, healthy relationships. We believe being free from abuse is only the start of the journey.
Role Description
The role of the Chair of Trustees is to give leadership to the board and to make sure the board fulfils its duties and responsibilities. Additionally, the Chair of Trustees works closely with the CEO to support her/him to achieve the aims of NIDAS, and, at times, represent NIDAS at functions, meetings and in the press, and broadcasting media.
Level of Commitment
- Six-weekly board meetings
- Participating in a sub-committee and/ or ad hoc groups
- Regular meetings with the CEO
- Represent NIDAS at various events and meetings with stakeholders
Duties
In addition to the responsibilities of a trustee, the Chair of Trustees' duties are to:
- Provide leadership to the organisation and the board by ensuring that everyone remains focused on the delivery of its charitable purposes in order to deliver the greatest public benefit.
- To ensure that the Annual Reports and accounts are produced at the end of each year for presentation to the Annual General Meeting and to ensure that they are forwarded to the Charity Commission within the appropriate time period.
- Chair and facilitate board meetings and the Annual General Meeting encouraging full participation by all attending.
- Establish sub-committees and working groups to address specific issues/tasks as deemed appropriate by the board, and to call upon specialist skills of his/her fellow Officers and Trustees in relation to those groups, and to participate in such groups as appropriate.
- Give direction to board policy making.
- Check that decisions taken at meetings are implemented.
- Represent the organisation at functions and meetings and act as a spokesperson when appropriate.
- Bring impartiality and objectivity to decision making.
- Liaise with the CEO to keep an overview of the organisation’s affairs.
- Lead the process of supporting and appraising the performance of the CEO.
- Sit on senior appointment, and disciplinary panels.
The Chair of Trustees will also work with the CEO to:
- Plan and set the agenda for the Annual General meeting with the Secretary.
- Plan the annual cycle of board meetings and agendas for each meeting with the Secretary.
- Develop the board of trustees including induction, training, appraisal and succession planning.
- Address conflict within the board and within the organisation, and liaise with the CEO to achieve this.
Person Specification
In addition to the specification for a trustee, the Chair of Trustees requires the following qualities:
- Strong leadership skills
- Experience of chairing meetings and/or committee work
- Ability to balance tact and diplomacy with willingness to challenge and constructively criticise
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Good understanding of legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship.

Chair of Trustees - Eggcup
Chair of trustees wanted to drive transformation from emergency food support to a sustainable model with a wider customer base. We seek someone with creative energy, analytical and communication skills to offer strategic leadership. Online/remote or Lancaster
Eggcup has supported about 1000 households weekly through its outlets and food coop. The charity has worked with the city council to deliver hardship schemes, including the Household Support Fund. Over the next financial year, it expects to refocus away from low-cost commercial food management and onto acquisition of surplus food throughout the region. Its aim is to continue its food club outlets as it grows the affordable meal-production operation and opens a city centre cafe.
The ideal candidate would have knowledge of commercial food systems, as well as an interest in food sustainability, and would also hold values around fairness in society and the reduction of inequality and poverty. They must confidently represent Eggcup to external organisations, can offer light-touch supervision to the charity manager, analyse data effectively, and communicate clearly in meetings and in writing. The role is likely to require 2-4 hours per week as well as monthly meetings which take place via Zoom. It would be helpful to be able to visit the operation but the role can be undertaken remotely. The chair role does require commitment but the organisation has all the pieces in place for an enthusiastic person to come in and help to grow and shape the next stage of its food adventure. Energy and creative problem-solving are at least as important as experience, and Eggcup encourages anyone who is interested to get in touch for an informal chat with thecurrent Chair of Trustees.

Who we are.
Set up in 1994 by local people, BEA/OWLS is a community-based charity with a community interest company called UpBEAt, which runs Bramley Community Shop. In 2011, we set up Older Wiser Local Seniors (OWLS) to provide the Neighbourhood Network Service in Headingley, Burley, Hyde Park and parts of Kirkstall. We currently have around 1,500 members.
With a small staff team and 200 volunteers, we work with a range of partner organisations, both voluntary and statutory, to improve health, increase happiness, and reduce social isolation and loneliness in older people.
At a strategic level, we seek to influence local and city-wide policy development as active members of the community and Leeds’ third sector. We share good practices whilst at the same time learning from others.
Our strategic aims are to:
- Increase membership of the charity and the happiness of our members.
- Be more effective and efficient.
- Further engage our members, volunteers and staff, and ensure that we remain sustainable as an organisation.
About the roles.
The Chair of the Board will manage Board meetings, support the Chief Executive and ensure that the Board of Trustees is well-inducted, managed and developed to be effective and efficient in its governance responsibilities.
Committee Chairs will bring their HR and Finance experience to strengthen the technical capability of our committees. As well as Chairing the Committee Meetings, Committee Chairs will lead the strategic development of key finance and people issues.
Other people who want to be Trustees, regardless of background, will help to maintain oversight of the financial health and sustainability of the organisation and ensure that our resources are managed in a way that achieves the charity’s objectives.
Who we are looking for.
First and foremost, we are looking for local people committed to helping older people live happy lives in our community. A willingness to invest the time and effort in delivering for local older people is important to us.
Specifically, we are looking for a Chair of the Board who is ambitious for the organisation, is comfortable building a good local profile and can develop influential relationships with partners and other stakeholders. The Chair will run the Board meetings, support and constructively challenge the Chief Executive and continue to drive Board Member engagement and effectiveness.
We are looking for Committee Chairs with specialist backgrounds in finance and HR to lead the Money Committee and People Committee.

Harrow Food Bank is part of the Trussell Trust - a network of over 1300 food bank centres in the UK. Between April 2022 and March 2023, food banks provided almost 3 million food supplies to people in crisis.
Harrow Food Bank requires two Trustees to support the Chair and current members who can support the existing Trustees:
Administrator / Secretary: to lead on all the administrative duties of the food bank and Trustee Board, ensure all meetings are conducted within the legal requirements and a record of all meetings maintained. Key roles & responsibilities:

When a national emergency arises, we act fast to raise funds for those impacted to help with their physical, psychological, and practical needs. Becoming a trustee
Our trustees play a vital role in making sure the National Emergencies Trust has a clear strategy, achieves our goals, and demonstrates excellence in all areas of governance.
Key duties
- Demonstrate an interest and commitment to the work, values, and vision of the National Emergencies Trust
- Understand and enforce legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship (training and mentorship is available)

Key tasks
- Act at all times in the interests of beneficiaries, considering guidance from our Advisory Groups
- Participate in quarterly board meetings, reading papers in advance
- Work jointly with other trustees, attend the Trust’s Committees and/or Advisory Groups as applicable (usually online) and/or directly support the Chair, Chief Executive or team, in line with your background and skills to achieve their objectives
- Provide advice to the Chief Executive and other board members according to your expertise and in line with the Trust’s Constitution
- Sign off the Trust’s annual financial accounts, safeguarding the good name and values of the charity, and acting within the law
- Support the Chief Executive and team in the event of a national emergency.

Terms of appointment
Terms
- Terms are three years. Trustees can serve a maximum of three terms
- This is an unpaid, voluntary role but all reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed
Time commitment
- You must be able to commit to quarterly Board Meetings. These will usually be held in person with a dial-in option available as an exception. Papers are circulated in advance for consideration.

Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that Upbeat Communities achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity, and they also ensure we have a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the leadership team to enable Upbeat Communities to grow and thrive, and through this, empower refugees to thrive.

Duties
Any individual acting as a trustee for Upbeat Communities would be required to
carry out the following:
- Promote the vision, mission and values of the charity
- Ensure Upbeat Communities and its representatives function within all legal and
- regulatory requirements applicable, and in line with its constitution, continually
- striving for best practice in governance
- Determine the overall direction and development of Upbeat Communities
- through good governance and clear strategic planning
- Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their
- implementation
- Oversee Upbeat Communities’ financial plans and budgets and monitor and
- evaluate progress
- Review and approve the charity’s financial statements
- Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively
- Provide support and challenge to Upbeat Communities’ Chief Executive in the
- exercise of their delegated authority and affairs
- Contribute to regular reviews of Upbeat Communities’ own governance.
- Attend Board meetings, and be adequately prepared to contribute to
- discussions.
- Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and
- protect the charity’s interests, avoiding any personal conflict of interests
- Take appropriate professional advice in all matters where there may be a

Finance Specific Duties
- Lead on the strategic financial management of the charity at board level
- Liaise with our outsourced finance team (including our Finance Director)
- Chair the finance sub-committee (which meets 6 times per year ahead of every
- board meeting)
- Maintain a clear grasp of the charity’s financial position and ensure full and
- timely financial transparency and information disclosure to the board
- Support the board of trustees in financial decision making processes
- Review and approve annual budgets
- Advise on banking and investments
- Take an active role in the financial audit process

FrameWorks UK - Board Director
FrameWorks UK collaborates with charities and other mission driven organisations to communicate about social issues in ways that will create social progress.
The Board wish to appoint a 5th Director to strengthen its ability to exercise financial oversight of FrameWorks UK. This means the new Director is likely to have a background in finance or similar.
New Dawn New Day is a longstanding Leicester based women’s charity. A key focus of our work is supporting women who have come into contact with Criminal Justice Services or are at risk of offending, delivering a range of practical and emotional support designed to meet their multiple and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
Ensuring effective governance
- Providing support and leadership to ensure trustees fulfil their duties and contribute to strategic decision-making
- Maintain a supportive team culture among trustees, leveraging their varied experiences and networks for the charity's benefit
- Supporting new trustees to develop their participation and contribution
- Oversee the plan for trustee recruitment to ensure succession, diversity & relevant skills
Development of the charity’s long-term strategy
- Working in collaboration with trustees, the CEO, and the Senior Executive Team to oversee the development of the long-term strategic plan
- Review delivery of the annual plan to achieve funding & project objectives
- Research broader networks, potential partnerships & stakeholders to support the charity's strategic goals and funding requirements
Working with the CEO
- Develop a productive working relationship
- Agree their annual objectives and provide support and oversight to deliver them
Acting as a representative of the charity
- Be an ambassador, developing our network with decision makers and other stakeholders as appropriate

It is an opportunity for those that who are keen to use their skills and experience, whether professional or personal, to make sure Vision Homes can continue to serve and to grow the excellent care that it provides to people with complex needs such as sensory impairment with acquired brain injury. Those in our care range in age, and have differing needs, and we aim to offer personalised care so that everyone can live the best life that they can.
We’re particularly interested to hear from you if have direct experience of adult care services (care homes or home care) or experience in the supported housing sector. We also have a need to add to our skills and diversity, as a Board, in areas such as charity, governance, strategic management, or experience as a Chartered Surveyor. No prior experience of sitting on a board is necessary as we offer induction and training.
