Pro-bono legal support wanted: land and sporting rights
The League Against Cruel Sports is a small animal welfare charity, campaigning to protect animals from cruelty. Part of that work is practical: we own land and hold sporting rights over other land, so that hunting and shooting cannot take place on it and instead the land becomes a safe haven for wildlife.
We're looking for a law firm or individual solicitor/barrister who could offer pro-bono advice on land and property matters, mainly:
- The transfer, assignment or release of sporting rights
- Queries about the scope, ownership and enforceability of sporting rights
- General land ownership questions relating to our property (title, boundaries, covenants, access)
- Occasional review of related documents, such as transfers, leases, licences and correspondence
What we're offering:
- Meaningful work supporting a charity whose land holdings directly protect wildlife
- A named contact and clear instructions, so your time is used efficiently
- Flexibility on how it works, whether that's a set number of hours per year, matter-by-matter, or an ongoing relationship
- Public acknowledgement of your support, if you'd like it
What we're looking for:
- Experience in real estate or land law, ideally including sporting rights, rural property or charity property
- Willingness to take on occasional, mixed-size pieces of work
- Comfort working with a small charity team without a dedicated legal function
