Share Psychotherapy is a long-standing psychotherapy charity providing long term, low cost therapy. We specifically aim to help people who cannot afford or cannot access therapy elsewhere. If you would like to joinn our board and help to guide and grow the charity as we move into our next phase we would like to hear from you!
We are especially interested in hearing from people with clinical, therapeutic or safeguarding experience but are looking for people with experience & skills in any of the following:

Share Psychotherapy is one of Sheffield’s leading mental health charities. Established for over 40 years we offer medium to long term therapy at nominal fees, primarily to people on low incomes. This therapy is delivered through a range of psychodynamic & creative modalities. We therefore work at the vital intersection of psychological distress & poverty in the city, providing high quality, long term therapy to people who could not otherwise obtain such help, especially those on low incomes.
Our clients are often experiencing serious mental and emotional distress, through anxiety, depression, difficulty with relationships or traumatic life events.
We are part way through a change process at Share - developing and strengthening our clinical services, improving our administrative and business systems and strengthening our financial position. We want to build upon our position as a centre of excellence in psychotherapy and make an even bigger contribution to improving mental health in Sheffield.

We are looking for a Volunteer On-line Meeting Assistant to support the Head of Area (Central Region) with organising and preparing for monthly and quarterly virtual meetings, and on occasion events or conferences.
You will be remote based at home, with some occasional travel for face-to-face meetings (expenses reimbursed), and ideally will be able to commit up to 4 hours per week to volunteering, during usual office hours Monday to Friday.

What you will be doing as a Volunteer On-line Meeting Assistant
The majority of meetings are held virtually on-line via MS Teams. You will support the Head of Area (and meeting Chair) by:
- Co-ordinating meeting invitations (via MS Teams), attendee registration and apologies
- Distributing documents in advance of meetings
- Take notes of the meeting and share these with attendees, eg, updating SharePoint
- General meeting support, share any slides, launch polls and set up break out rooms as required during virtual meetings
- Co-ordinate and collate post event evaluations and feedback
- Develop and maintain information systems, eg, attendee contact details and distribution lists

We are looking for a creative individual to join the children’s service with experience in photography, drama, music, dance/movement or spoken word. Ideally, this individual would have experience working with groups and delivering creative workshops for a therapeutic purpose. Their skills would be highly beneficial to our service as creativity has proven to be a great mechanism to facilitate healing and explore aspects of developmental trauma. Additionally, children who are non-verbal or reluctant to social interactions can participate in creative tasks freely, increasing their confidence. Currently in the team we have skills such as arts and crafts, Lego play and play therapy skills. We are looking for an individual with further creative skills to enhance the creative edge of our service and programming.
Our intern will be:
- Assisting with the research and planning of weekly children’s service evenings.

The legal, casework & advocacy intern will work directly with our adult members providing support in areas such as immigration, housing and benefits. The internship provides the opportunity to gain high quality work experience relevant to those interested in law, advocacy and social work. The role is designed to provide active learning in areas of individual support work, legislative frameworks and diverse case management. The intern will work closely with our pro-bono solicitors and immigration advisors from high profile London firms.
Our intern will be:
- Providing advocacy and casework on behalf of adult members, including grant applications, liaising with other professionals supporting our members and writing letters of support
- Contacting councils, social services, the home office and other government agencies
- Booking and preparing members for appointments at Body & Soul’s legal clinics
- Working with the volunteer solicitors providing the pro-bono legal clinics and carrying out follow-up work from the appointments
- Giving 1:1 support to adult members over the phone and face to face, including on the Help Desk at our Tuesday service evenings
- Working closely with staff in other charity organisations and gaining a knowledge of other voluntary organisations to which we can sign post our members

This internship will focus on supporting our You Are Not Alone (YANA) programme which is unique in addressing the those aged 16 - 35 who have attempted suicide or engaged in serious self-harm. We know how difficult the transition from adolescence to adulthood can be, and this programme is designed to provide vital continuity of support for people who are struggling with suicidality during this particularly sensitive period. The programme offers therapeutic and practical interventions for the young person and their family members to support them during this time e.g. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, community events, casework, and advocacy etc.
The successful intern will work alongside the YANA team, to further improve our connections with stakeholders, funders, and referral partners and boost the profile of our suicide prevention services and continue with our work to develop a successful marketing plan.

Payment
This is a voluntary role and trustees receive no remuneration. Reasonable expenses can be claimed in line with Mind of the Student's expenses policy.
Hours
Trustees are expected to attend four trustee meetings each year of two-hours each. In addition, attendance at other ad-hoc meetings and discussion may be required. Total time commitment is expected to be up to two hours per month.
Location
Board meetings are held at Bower Park Academy, Havering Road, Romford RM1 4YY, ideally in person but can be attended online.
Each trustee is appointed on a three-year term.

The purpose of your role is to lead, coordinate and support the Events team, a small team of volunteers which sits within the Fundraising, Events & Comms department. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, delivery and evaluation of a varied programme of events. Currently, this includes: regular, virtual training opportunities/discussion groups; regional conferences (November); a residential national conference (June/July); three away days per year for Nightline Association volunteers; and the annual Nightline Awards.
The Events Team Lead will work closely with the Operations Officer and CEO to project manage all Nightline Association events, ensuring that necessary tasks are delegated and completed. They will also provide support and guidance to individuals and teams across the organisation who are seeking to deliver their own events.
You will also work with the Research and Impact department to develop our approach to evaluation, and the Services department to ensure that event planning is informed by the needs of Nightlines.

We provide a range of therapeutic and community services which are suited to each child’s needs. Our holistic specialist services empower children, young people and their families affected by trauma or negative experiences to make positive choices and reclaim their lives.
Our services are informed by the latest developments in research and practice of neuroscience, trauma, and therapy. We believe the best outcomes are achieved when the adults around the child are included in the support, keeping the child at the centre.
Uniquely, therefore, since our inception we have provided ‘family inclusive’ specialist services to children and young people affected by negative experiences or trauma. This approach is one of the critical differentiators that enable us to make a positive impact in young people’s lives.
We are experiencing ever-increasing demands for mental health support. As a society, we are navigating post-pandemic challenges alongside the cost-of-living crisis and its effects.
The global uncertainty puts pressure on everyone, and we know children and young people are sensitive to the well-being and emotional capacity of their parents and/or adults who care for them.
Alongside this, we have seen an increase in the complexity of how our young people present and what concerns them. We need to ensure young people have access to support as we face an emerging and growing mental health crisis.
We know that children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds have, on average, weaker social and emotional learning skills at all ages than their peers. This is linked to poor mental health, lower academic attainment, and poorer employment outcomes. However, evidence suggests that developing social and emotional skills can improve young people’s lives.
A recent partnership with Impetus who supports and funds ‘high potential charities,’ has enabled us to reflect on and refine our theory of change and create a rigorous and robust strategy for the next three years of growth. The partnership also gave us access to pro bono support from Bain and Company who pressure-tested our strategy and created a comprehensive implementation plan which is already underway.
We work across Essex and are rapidly growing into Thurrock and Suffolk, with ambitious plans to continue to grow sustainably and have a bigger impact on the lives of children and young people.
We are on the cusp of our next stage of development, from local charity to countrywide provider, and, as we embark on our new business plan, this is a great time to join and lead our board as Chair.
About the role
As our current Chair, Simon Carpenter, is due to step down later this year, we are looking for a new Chair to lead our board at this pivotal time of growth, scaling and development for our organisation.

Our new Chair will:
- Bring governance experience and strong commercial acumen, with entrepreneurial experience in scaling and growing organisations.
- Together with our Chief Executive, Sue Bell, help to develop and drive our strategy, creating a bigger impact.
- Have experience leading organisations through growth and change and bringing a business focus.
- Understand the distinctive culture of the charity sector.
- Challenge and support our board and executive team alongside a strategic, open, calm, diplomatic and inclusive approach.
- Join our ambitious and engaged board and collaborate with the executive team to ensure our organisation grows sustainably.
- Share our vision and values and have a passion for supporting children’s and young people’s mental health and well-being.
We want to ensure that all voices are heard across our organisation, and our Chair will work closely with our Chief Executive and team to ensure that young people are at the core of how we work.
