Job description

VOLUNTEER PROJECT MANAGER WANTED!

Help us grow a brand‑new youth counselling & support service in Newham

Something exciting is taking root in Newham — The NYCAS (Newham Youth Counselling and Advice Service) our temporary name of course, is in development and we are aiming to create a warm, welcoming space where young people aged 11–25 can get access to FREE, confidential support from counselling, talking and art therapies, to information, advice and guidance and much more.

We’re building it from the ground up… and we’re looking for a passionate, organised, people‑loving volunteer, with amazing project management skills, who can help us plan and steer and drive us forward, helping us put this all together.

Become our Project Manager and help us bring it to life.

If you’re someone who thrives on making things happen, loves a good plan, and wants to create real impact for young people, this could be your perfect role.

About the Role

As our Volunteer Project Manager, you’ll be the heartbeat of our set‑up and development phase. You’ll help shape the foundations of a service that will support thousands of young people in the London Borough of Newham for years to come.

You’ll work closely with our Founder and early team to:

  • Lead and coordinate the set‑up of our new youth wellbeing service.
  • Create timelines, action plans, and checklists.
  • Keep everyone on track and motivated.
  • Support with volunteer recruitment, branding, outreach, and community engagement.
  • Help us build partnerships across Newham.
  • Bring fresh ideas, energy, and creativity to the project.

This is a hands‑on, meaningful role where you’ll see your work turn into something real, beautiful, and life‑changing.

Who We’re Looking For

We need someone with experience in project management. Setting up a charity or service would be ideal but not essential, but we do need someone who is:

  • Organised, solution focused and proactive.
  • A great communicator.
  • Excited about youth wellbeing.
  • Comfortable juggling tasks.
  • Creative, positive, and full of ideas.
  • Passionate about making Newham a better place for young people.

If you’ve got experience in project management, youth work, community projects, or organising events — amazing. If not, but you’ve got the drive and enthusiasm — we still want to hear from you.

What You’ll Gain

  • Real project management experience.
  • A chance to shape a brand‑new youth support service.
  • New skills, confidence, and connections.
  • A friendly, supportive team.
  • The joy of knowing you helped create something that will help young people blossom.

Time Commitment

Flexible — ideally 4–8 hours a week, but we’re open to what works for you.

This role can be done remotely with some in‑person meetings in Newham.

Ready to help something beautiful grow?

We’d love to hear from you.

How to apply

Submit your up to date CV and a Covering Letter of no more than 2 pages, detailing your experience and why you would like to volunteer your time and experience with us at NYCAS.

We will then review applications as they come in and we will contact individual applicants to arrange for a initial short telephone interview as part of the first stage in the volunteer recruitment process.
