Help us to engage young children and families with the RAF story through engaging and fun activities.

 

What is the role?

‘Little Swifts’, are engaging sessions for children under 5 and their families that take place twice per month at RAF Museum London. The sessions provide opportunities for messy play, arts and crafts, storytelling and singing, linked to a wide range of child-friendly themes found within the Museum’s collection.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on volunteers to assist the session leader. Your help will support children aged 2-5 and their families to engage with the story of the RAF, through sensory play, creativity and fun! These sessions also provide a valuable chance for families to learn and play together, building community connections. We hope it will also be an enjoyable and rewarding opportunity for a volunteer, perfect for those who want to build experience in education, museums and childcare, or for those who simply enjoy working with little ones.

 

 

What will I be doing?

  • Providing a friendly welcome to children and families, registering on entry, ensuring they know their way around the space,

  • Providing the activity leader with support by helping with handing out and maintaining materials for visitors,

  • Proactively supporting the activities and encouraging participation, ensuring that all feel comfortable and happy,

  • Setting up and packing away of messy play and art and craft supplies,

  • Helping with moving tables and chairs during setup/pack down,

  • Giving general information and help to Museum visitors.

How much time would I need to commit?

We are looking for people who can commit to supporting one session per month. Volunteer shifts are from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

 

The Little Swifts sessions take place on every second Tuesday and every fourth Thursday of the month (during term-time only).

This role is perfect for you if you are…

·       Comfortable interacting with a range of age groups including young children

·       Friendly, enthusiastic, and proactive in engaging the public

·       A good team player

·       Comfortable with light lifting and light cleaning duties.
