About Us
An independent charity, The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH) has been leading efforts to incorporate the values of environmental sustainability into the health sector since its establishment in 2008. Our work is underpinned by CSH’s Principles of Sustainable Clinical Practice: prevention; patient empowerment; lean care systems; low carbon alternatives.
CSH has a particular focus on:
- engaging those on the front line of patient care and promoting the concept of ‘sustainable clinical practice’
- enabling the use of the natural environment at NHS settings to be used as ‘nature-based solutions’ in healthcare.

We're looking for an Independent Trustee to join our valued Board of Trustees who will play a pivotal role in ensuring IPEM is well governed. This is an exciting time to join IPEM, with an ambitious growth plan agreed for the next 5 years.
The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the Institute and the Trustees are collectively and separately responsible for ensuring that the Institute complies with its Articles of Association, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations and that all its activities are in accordance with the objects of the Institute and other legislative requirements.
We anticipate a time commitment of up to 12 days per year. Independent Members are sometimes asked to join sub-committees of Trustees. Trustee meetings are held every quarter, rotating between York and London and are held during the working day. This role is only available to non-IPEM members.

The British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (BAPEN) is recruiting for Non- executive Trustees to join the BAPEN Board of Trustees. Finance expertise would be of particular interest.
BAPEN is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) that brings together the strengths of its Core Groups and committees to raise awareness and understanding of malnutrition in all settings and provides education, advice and resources to advance the nutritional care of patients and those at risk from malnutrition in the wider community.
The Charities Act 2011 defines charity trustees as the people responsible under the charity’s governing document for controlling the administration and management of the charity. They are known collectively as the trustee board.
Under charity law the trustees have the ultimate responsibility for managing the affairs of the charity and ensuring that it is well run and delivering the charitable aims and objectives for which it has been set up.
Non-executive Trustees work in partnership with the Board of Trustees, Council and Executive Committee to provide clear vision, mission and strategic direction for the charity to:
Contribute to the development of the charity’s future strategic goals, ensuring that the best interests of its membership as well as those who care for and are effected by malnutrition are always at the top of the agenda.
Ensure the highest levels of transparency, audit, governance and accountability in the activities of the charity.
Provide strategic leadership and direction to the charity through oversight of and contribution to key strategy documents as well as by setting strategic priorities.
Have an awareness and understanding of the national policy context and of local needs of those whom the charity serves.
Develop and review the charity’s internal controls to ensure that they identify the risks and opportunities to enable the charity to be sustainable and relevant for all of its stakeholders.
Work with other Trustees, Executive Officers and Council members in a supportive, helpful and constructive way to ensure the board is effective.
Ensure that effective arrangements are in place to provide assurance on risk management, governance and internal control whilst ensuring openness and transparency in decision making.
Ensure the charity establishes key objectives and control and management frameworks to deliver the agreed plans, identifies and assesses the risk of achieving them and regularly monitors performance to ensure appropriate corrective action can be taken.
Be familiar with the articles of association of the charity and awareness of its powers, duties and objectives.
Be familiar with and ensure compliance with the charity’s funding agreements.
Represent the charity in a positive manner with national, regional or local bodies or individuals in order to enhance the position of the charity.
Lead or participate in relevant board committees or task groups of the charity.
Contribute to the appointment and, if necessary, removal of the President as well as participation in the recruitment and selection of future non-executive trustees.
Work as part of a team, and to accept shared responsibility and accountability for the successful running of the charity.
Non-executive trustees are subject to charity legislation and are obliged to:
Act within your powers (for example in accordance with the constitution and associated charity documentation.
Promote the success of the charity.
Exercise independent judgment.
Exercise reasonable skill, care and diligence.
Avoid conflicts of interest.
Not to accept benefits from third parties and declare any interest in transactions.

The term of office will be 3 years with up to 2 term renewals. Trustees must be willing and able to contribute sufficient time to deliver the role effectively. There are up to 4 Trustee meetings per year, with additional quarterly council meetings that Trustees are encouraged to attend. These meetings will be a combination of virtual and face to face.
Often trustees may sit on a committee focused on an area where they have knowledge of, or are particularly interested in; for example, communications or education.
You will also be expected to undertake any training required to enable you to discharge your role effectively.

Chair of Trustees
We are looking for a Chair of Trustees who is passionate about the cause but also keen to get involved and help drive the charity’s strategic direction.
Working for a small Muscular Dystrophy family charity, you will work closely with trustees and the charity’s founder and CEO to drive the organisations strategic direction.

The Role
You will work closely with the charity’s founder and CEO but also you will lead the trustees in strategy, good governance, and policy development. As part of this engagement, the Chair will provide support to the CEO, including supporting his wellbeing and ongoing professional development.
Other duties will include:
· When necessary, ensure the Chair and Trustees challenge the CEO constructively and only in the best interests of the charity as ‘critical friends’.
· Liaising with the Charity Secretary, and the CEO with drafting agendas and supporting papers for Trustee meetings, ensuring provision of timely information and sharing with all.
· Ensure charity business is covered efficiently and effectively in meetings.
· Undertake a leadership role to ensure that board members fulfil their governance responsibilities and that trustee decisions are acted upon.
· Maintain trustees’ commitment to board renewal, succession planning and trustee performance reviews, in line with the governing document.
· Ensure board and trustee performance is reviewed annually.
· Ensure the performance of the CEO is reviewed annually.
The Chair will also ensure that Trustees make an effective contribution and are engaged, fully involved and invested in the charity in discharging their responsibilities.
Time Commitments
· The time commitment required to fulfil the Chair role will be somewhere between 2-3 days per month
· MHF’s Trustee Board meets virtually once every 2 months, for 2 hours, within the financial year (1st Mar – 29th Feb)
· The Chair & trustees are encouraged to attend and engage with at least one Muscle Dream programme per year
· The Chair will conduct an annual review meeting with each trustee, outside of any other trustee meetings
· The Association of Chairs (AoC) are an independent association of Chairs of social purpose and not-for-profits – formed to help Chairs with their unique task to lead the board in delivering the organisation’s aims – the AoC offer some excellent resources including Chair Training (if required)

The Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Centre recently celebrated 25 years of work improving end of life care given by generalist frontline teams. GSF is the leading provider of training in end of life care for generalist front line staff across health and social care. We have trained and accredited thousands of teams, influenced national policy and practice and GSF has improved the care for many millions of people and their families.
Much has been achieved but there is still more to do ... We have a bold and exciting vision to ensure that everyone experiences Gold Standard end of life care. We want to see a big increase in the number of people that are trained, and we want to influence policy to make Gold Standard end of life care a requirement. We have recently become a CIO charity and as we enter a new chapter of our story, we are seeking new trustees to help us to achieve our vision and contribute to our strategic purpose.

For over seventy years the Osteopathic Foundation (initially the Osteopathic Education Foundation) has been supporting osteopathic education, research, and development. We fund research and education activities through our grant-giving programmes. Since 2000, we have distributed over £1 million of support to advance osteopathic practice for public benefit.

Patient Drivers – Ely & Llanrumney
Patient Drivers support with City Hospice’s day center by transporting patients to and from their homes to our hospice in Whitchurch. Our patients are based across the city and often need support with transport to attend on Monday and Thursday afternoons.
By using your own car to transport our patients, you’ll be enabling them to socialise with other people, receive complementary therapies, and have some much-needed entertainment.
Our patient groups run on a Monday and Thursday between 1:30pm and 3:30pm, with patients coming from across the city. We're particularly interested to hear from prospective volunteers that live in and around Ely and Llanrumney.
