Job description

Chronically Marvellous is growing quickly, and we need confident, empathetic group leaders to host support sessions for our service users. We now have more individuals who need our help and support, so we'd like to offer more online sessions.

What will you be doing?

Leading support sessions: For many of our service users, our weekly support sessions are a lifeline, as well as an opportunity to socialise, speak any worries they have, and generally have a safe space to talk freely about their illness. You will host each session online, ensuring that individuals have a chance to speak, encouraging people to share their stories and allowing for group discussion.

Safeguarding: Our sessions will mostly be a way to let our service users come together, but there may be times that you notice something not quite right. It could be the welfare of the individual, something in their surroundings, or another person in the background/they mention in conversation. It is up to you to flag these incidents to senior staff so that we may investigate.

Have fun and show passion for CM: You'll understand why Chronically Marvellous exists, and why the work that we do is important to so many people. You will be able to portray this in the sessions you host, and be able to show our service users that they are in a safe space. We're all here for the same reason, we should have fun and enjoy being here!

What are we looking for?

  • Experience of leading groups, sessions, meeting of some kind
  • An interest in people, getting to know their strengths, their interests, and helping them achieve their goals.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding
  • Ability to take initiative, bring ideas to the table, ensuring accessibility of all our systems and services.
  • Great organisational skills.
  • Personable and able to welcome people from all walks of life
  • A passion for empowering people and promoting independence for those with chronic illnesses.

All our volunteering roles are subject to a DBS Check.

What difference will you make?

Chronically Marvellous is motivated by making a difference to the lives of people with chronic illnesses. By hosting group support sessions, you allow our service users to socialise safely, and be part of conversations with like-minded people with similar lived experiences.

Please send us your CV and a short statement about why you are interested in Chronically Marvellous, and what experience you have for the role.

After shortlisting, we will contact potential candidates to offer a Zoom call with the Directors.
