We are looking to recruit a Communications Volunteer for the North Staffordshire Group. As our Communications Volunteer you’ll make sure people know they have a local MS Society group to turn to.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your writing skills, and gain an experience of communicating across a range of digital channels. 

Time commitment

We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

As our local group Support Volunteer you’ll help people affected by MS find information about local and national services. They act as the first point of contact and they make sure all relevant information is circulated to other volunteers and members. And they play an important role in keeping our data and details up to date to comply with data protection legislation.

In this role you’ll develop your administration and organisation skills. Most importantly you’ll be help your local group run efficiently, so they can keep providing valuable services to our MS community.

Finance Volunteer

We are looking to recruit a Finance Volunteer for our North Staffordshire Group. As a Finance Volunteer, you would be joining a coordinating team of volunteers to plan and deliver services and activities to support people locally.

You will maintain and approve income and expenditure records and explain financial information clearly to other group members. You would ensure our financial requirements and policies are followed, and that money is spent in a cost effective manner.

Children With Voices is a grassroots children’s charity that provides alternative education, wellbeing programmes, and community food hubs to help children and families thrive.

About the Role

As our Finance Assistant, you’ll be a vital part of the team, helping ensure that CWV’s finances run smoothly and transparently. You’ll manage day-to-day bookkeeping, assist with budgeting and reporting, and support compliance with charity financial standards.

You’ll work closely with the CEO, Operations team, and external accountants to make sure every penny is accounted for — and that we can continue delivering essential programmes in our community.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping using QuickBooks 

• Record income, donations, and grant payments

• Create and process invoices, receipts, and staff expenses

• Reconcile bank accounts 

• Support preparation of management accounts and reports

• Assist with grant reporting and annual audit preparation

• Ensure compliance with charity finance policies and procedures

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in bookkeeping or finance administration

• Comfortable using accounting software and Excel

• Highly organised with great attention to detail

• Able to work independently and handle confidential information responsibly

• Passionate about supporting a small charity with a big heart

Desirable:

• Experience in the charity or voluntary sector

• Knowledge of restricted/unrestricted funds or Gift Aid

• AAT qualification (or working towards)

Overview

No Panic is a national self-help charity, which supports people with a range of anxiety problems, including panic attacks, OCD, agoraphobia, social phobia and health anxiety.

We are looking for a skilled volunteer to co-ordinate our General Awareness Team, remotely.

Activities

The General Awareness Team Co-ordinator is responsible for maintaining an accurate list of organisations that can be contacted about the No Panic Helpline and assigning organisations to organisation contactors, and is also responsible for working with members of No Panic to share their anxiety stories with the media.

We anticipate this volunteering will take up about 4 hours of your time per week.

We ask our volunteers to commit to at least a year.

Desired Skills

The successful applicant will be capable of building and maintaining systems that can be used to distribute tasks among the team, and will be committed, proactive and well organised.

A reference will be required.

Support

The General Awareness Team Co-ordinator will be supported by the Awareness Officer and the No Panic office.

4. Relationship Building:

  - Establish and maintain positive relationships with potential donors, grant-making organisations, and other stakeholders.

5. Collaboration and Coordination:

  - Work closely with the fundraising team and project managers to gather necessary information for proposals.

• Handle safeguarding reports and referrals in line with policy
