Job description

What we’re looking for:

We need someone with the ability to bring together a wide range of teams across multiple community networks, to achieve national objectives. 

St John has embarked on a journey to ensure that every community and every young person across England will be first aid confident. A leader with a passion for local volunteering and helping communities is needed to inspire and support volunteers on this journey at the County and Community Level. 

We are committed to supporting and developing the right candidate in this volunteer leadership role, ensuring you have the tools and confidence to succeed. What we provide: A comprehensive welcome programme introducing you to the role and leadership team Training on key St John policies and safeguarding responsibilities Opportunities to develop leadership and management skills Access to mentoring for personal and professional growth Provision of ceremonial and service uniform This role includes a six-month probationary period with dedicated support to help you meet competency requirements and feel fully prepared for success.

We need someone with the ability to cultivate County relationships in order to shine a light on the positive impact our volunteers make in their local communities. We need someone who is committed to equity, inclusion and the fostering of a value-based leadership culture.  

The deadline to apply for the County Commissioner role is midnight on Tuesday 20th January 2026.

Interviews will take place between 20th January - 30th January online via Microsoft Teams.
