Job description

FUNDRAISER & GRANTS WRITER (VOLUNTEER)

Fuel the Movement Bringing Joy, Connection and Community to London

WE’RE SUNSHINE CHARITY!!!

SUNSHINE is a small but ambitious grassroots charity on a big mission: to reduce loneliness and help people feel truly seen, valued and connected. Powered 100% by passionate volunteers, we design joyful community projects, awareness campaigns, partnerships and support services that bring people together, spread joy and community spirit, nurture connection and boost confidence and wellbeing.

Loneliness in London is at an all‑time high — and SUNSHINE is here to change that. To grow our impact, we need a brilliant Fundraiser & Grants Writer who can unlock the resources that will help us reach more people, launch more programmes and build a kinder, more connected city.

This is a defining leadership role. You will shape SUNSHINE’s fundraising strategy, write compelling bids, build relationships with funders and help secure the income that powers our mission.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Fundraising Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and lead SUNSHINE’s fundraising approach, focusing on grants, trusts, foundations and community fundraising.

  • Identify new funding opportunities that align with our mission and values.

  • Work closely with trustees and volunteer leads to understand funding needs and priorities.

2. Grant Writing & Bid Development

  • Write compelling, emotionally resonant and evidence‑based funding applications.

  • Tailor bids to funder priorities while showcasing SUNSHINE’s unique voice, impact and story.

  • Build a pipeline of applications with clear timelines, requirements and success measures.

3. Relationship Building

  • Build and nurture relationships with funders, partners and supporters.

  • Represent SUNSHINE with warmth, professionalism and movement‑energy.

  • Maintain excellent communication with funders, including reporting and updates.

4. Impact & Evidence

  • Work with the Head of Programmes & Impact to gather data, stories and evidence that strengthen funding applications.

  • Ensure all bids reflect SUNSHINE’s commitment to inclusion, emotional safety and community connection.

5. Innovation & Growth

  • Explore creative fundraising ideas — from community events to partnerships and campaigns.

  • Help SUNSHINE diversify income streams and build long‑term sustainability.

This Role Is for You If…

  • You have experience in fundraising, grant writing, bid development or persuasive writing.

  • You’re a natural storyteller who can translate impact into compelling narratives.

  • You’re organised, proactive and excited by the challenge of building something from the ground up.

  • You care deeply about community, wellbeing and reducing loneliness in London.

  • You want to use your skills to create real, lasting social change.

Practical Details

  • Location: Hybrid/Flexible or Remote.

  • Time Commitment: 3–6 hours per month (flexible around your commitments).

Why Join Us?

  • Founding Impact: You’ll be shaping the financial future of a new, hopeful, volunteer‑powered charity.

  • Professional Growth: Gain high‑level experience in fundraising strategy, bid writing and relationship management.

  • Movement Energy: Be part of a joyful, ambitious movement tackling one of London’s biggest social challenges.

  • Real Change: Every pound you help raise directly supports people who feel lonely, isolated or unseen.

How to Apply

Please send a CV and a short note on why you’re the right person to lead fundraising at SUNSHINE. We review applications on a rolling basis — reach out today and help us bring more SUNSHINE to London.
