Fundraising Coordinator for SUNSHINE Charity Startup (VOLUNTEER ROLE)
BE THE ENGINE ROOM: Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator for SUNSHINE Charity Startup
Location: London/Hybrid (Flexible Hours, London-focused networking)
Type: Unremunerated Volunteer Role (Support Team Leadership)
Commitment: Approx. 3+ hours per week (Flexible, goal-oriented)
The Crisis We Face: Loneliness
Join us to fight the invisible epidemic. Chronic social isolation is not just sadness—it is a public health crisis with a mortality risk comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day. At SUNSHINE, we are a passionate, 100% volunteer-run startup dedicated to providing a clear path back to connection for Londoners suffering from deep loneliness and digital exclusion.
We have the mission and the evidence-based programme model. Now, we need a dynamic, results-driven Fundraising Coordinator to take the lead, generate the essential seed funding, and ensure we successfully launch our life-changing services.
The Role: Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator (Support Team Lead)
We are seeking a proactive and strategic Fundraising Coordinator to lead all income generation activities for SUNSHINE's startup phase. This role is pivotal: you will be responsible for creating the initial revenue streams that will pay for volunteer training, essential equipment, and regulatory compliance.
You will be the driving force that transforms our ambitions into operational reality.
Key Responsibilities for Launch & Growth:
-
Seed Funding Execution: Take ownership of the initial fundraising targets, focusing on securing the first £20,000 needed for launch costs (as outlined in our Awards for All bid). This includes managing grant applications, launching small community appeals, and identifying initial corporate partners.
-
Strategy Implementation: Translate the Board's high-level funding strategy into a detailed, executable 12-month plan with clear income milestones and deadlines.
-
Grant Management: Oversee the entire grant lifecycle, from prospect research and proposal writing (working closely with the Volunteer Grant Writer) to reporting and relationship management.
-
Community Appeals: Lead the creation and promotion of low-cost, high-impact community fundraising initiatives (e.g., local events, online appeals) to generate small, unrestricted income streams and build local awareness.
-
Data & Reporting: Establish robust systems for tracking all income, donations, and supporter data, ensuring transparency and providing regular financial updates to the Treasurer and Board.
Why Volunteer with SUNSHINE?
-
Maximum Impact: This is the most financially crucial role for our launch. Every target hit means a new borough is reached, a new cohort of isolated individuals is served, and a new life is reconnected.
-
Leadership Opportunity: You will lead the entire fundraising function from Day One, giving you unparalleled experience in building a fundraising infrastructure, donor strategy, and compliance culture within a growing charity.
-
The Mission: Your success directly pays for the core tools of our work—funding the 6-Week Digital Inclusion Programme and enabling the essential Safeguarding Training for our frontline volunteers. Your work is a direct investment in the safety and confidence of our participants.
Who We're Looking For
You are an experienced fundraising professional with a proven track record in securing income from diverse sources (grants, trusts, community appeals, corporate). You are highly organised, target-driven, and possess strong financial literacy to understand and build upon the cost structures provided by the Treasurer. You must be proactive, able to delegate effectively, and passionate about the cause of tackling loneliness.
If you believe that securing the funds is the first and most critical step in social change, and you are ready to lead our mission to reality, we want to hear from you.
APPLY NOW and become the financial driving force that powers the SUNSHINE.
