Job description

VOLUNTEER HEAD OF FUNDRAISING & PARTNERSHIPS

Join SUNSHINE — Bringing Connection, Joy, Community Spirit and SUNSHINE to Every Neighbourhood

WHO WE ARE

SUNSHINE is a start‑up loneliness charity at the very beginning of its journey — a modern, volunteer‑powered movement bringing people together through simple, meaningful activities that spark connection, build confidence, and spread joy.

Our work reflects the diversity of London — its cultures, communities, and neighbourhoods.

We don’t rely on a building or a centre. We go where people already are — parks, libraries, cafés, community halls, online spaces, neighbourhood corners. Wherever people gather, we show up with warmth, welcome, and community spirit.

Loneliness affects people of all ages and backgrounds, often silently.

We’re building a future where every neighbourhood feels connected, supported, and full of opportunities for people to grow, contribute, and belong. If you believe in people, community, and the power of small moments to create big impact, you’ll feel right at home here.

WHAT WE DO

SUNSHINE will be delivering free and low‑cost community‑led activities that help people connect, learn, and thrive, including:

  • Social groups and pop‑up events

  • Health and wellbeing sessions

  • Skills workshops (digital, creative, financial, employment readiness)

  • Family‑friendly activities

  • Neighbourhood outreach in underserved areas

  • Volunteer‑led community projects

Everything we do is shaped by local voices and powered by volunteers — bringing connection, joy, and community spirit to the places people already love.

OUR APPROACH

  • Local — We go where people already are.

  • Inclusive — Everyone is welcome.

  • Flexible — We adapt to community needs.

  • Volunteer‑Powered — People make this possible.

THE ROLE — VOLUNTEER HEAD OF FUNDRAISING & PARTNERSHIPS

We’re looking for a Volunteer Head of Fundraising & Partnerships to help build the relationships, resources, and opportunities that will allow SUNSHINE to grow and thrive.

This is a strategic and creative leadership role for someone who loves connecting with people, spotting opportunities, and building partnerships that make real community impact possible.

You’ll help shape our fundraising approach from the ground up — keeping it simple, human, ethical, and rooted in community spirit.

As our Volunteer Head of Fundraising & Partnerships, you will:

1. Lead Fundraising Strategy

  • Develop a light‑touch, achievable fundraising plan for a start‑up charity.

  • Explore diverse income streams — community fundraising, small grants, local business support, individual giving, and creative campaigns.

  • Ensure fundraising reflects our values of inclusion, kindness, and accessibility.

2. Build Partnerships

  • Develop warm, meaningful relationships with local organisations, businesses, and community groups.

  • Identify opportunities for collaboration, sponsorship, shared spaces, and in‑kind support.

  • Represent SUNSHINE with confidence, warmth, and community spirit.

3. Support Volunteer Fundraisers

  • Help volunteers feel confident running small fundraising activities.

  • Create simple resources and guidance to make fundraising easy and enjoyable.

  • Celebrate successes and build a culture of gratitude and recognition.

4. Work with Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Founder/CEO and volunteer leads to align fundraising with our growth.

  • Help ensure our services and programmes have the resources they need to flourish.

  • Champion our values and embed them in every partnership and fundraising decision.

This role is perfect for someone who:

  • Loves people, relationships, and community.

  • Enjoys connecting with partners and spotting opportunities.

  • Has experience in fundraising, partnerships, business development, or community engagement — or is excited to grow into it.

  • Thrives in start‑up environments where you can build things from scratch.

  • Values ethical fundraising and community‑powered change.

  • Wants to help reduce loneliness and strengthen neighbourhoods.

  • Believes in the power of small moments to create big impact.

Time commitment is flexible and can fit around your life. We welcome people from all backgrounds and experiences — especially those with lived experience of the communities we serve.

WHY IT MATTERS

Loneliness is one of the biggest challenges facing our communities today. Too many people feel disconnected, unseen, or without a place to belong.

SUNSHINE exists to change that.

By joining us as our Volunteer Head of Fundraising & Partnerships, you’ll help build the relationships and resources that make our work possible — from pop‑up events to wellbeing sessions to neighbourhood outreach.

Your leadership will directly shape the future of a movement powered by volunteers, rooted in kindness, and committed to bringing connection, confidence, joy, and community spirit to every neighbourhood.

Together, we can bring SUNSHINE to every corner of our communities.
