WHO WE ARE

SUNSHINE is a start‑up loneliness charity at the very beginning of its journey — a modern, volunteer‑powered movement bringing people together through simple, meaningful activities that spark connection, build confidence, and spread joy.

Our work reflects the diversity of London — its cultures, communities, and neighbourhoods.

We don’t rely on a building or a centre. We go where people already are — parks, libraries, cafés, community halls, online spaces, neighbourhood corners. Wherever people gather, we show up with warmth, welcome, and community spirit.

Loneliness affects people of all ages and backgrounds, often silently.

WHAT WE DO

SUNSHINE will be delivering free and low‑cost community‑led activities that help people connect, learn, and thrive, including:

• Social groups and pop‑up events

• Health and wellbeing sessions

• Skills workshops (digital, creative, financial, employment readiness)

• Family‑friendly activities

• Neighbourhood outreach in underserved areas

• Volunteer‑led community projects

THE ROLE — VOLUNTEER HEAD OF SUNSHINE LONELINESS AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS

We’re looking for a Volunteer Head of SUNSHINE Loneliness Awareness Campaigns to lead bold, creative, human‑centred campaigns that raise awareness of loneliness, challenge stigma, and inspire people to connect with their neighbours and communities, as well as promoting the SUNSHINE Charity as a leading light in the community.

This is a strategic and creative leadership role for someone who loves storytelling, social change, and building campaigns that feel hopeful, inclusive, and impossible to ignore.

You’ll help shape SUNSHINE’s public voice on loneliness — turning a silent struggle into a shared movement for connection.

As our Volunteer Head of SUNSHINE Loneliness Campaigns, you will:

1. Lead Campaign Strategy

• Design and deliver campaigns that raise awareness of loneliness in warm, accessible, community‑centred ways.

• Create messaging that reduces stigma and encourages people to reach out, join in, and connect.

• Develop campaigns that feel joyful, human, and rooted in lived experience.

2. Champion Lived Experience

• Work with volunteers and community members to share real stories with dignity and care.

• Ensure campaigns reflect the diversity of London’s communities.

• Create safe, empowering opportunities for people to be heard.

3. Build Public Engagement

• Develop simple, creative ways for the public to get involved — from micro‑actions to neighbourhood challenges.

• Work with local partners, community groups, and organisations to amplify campaign messages.

• Support volunteers to run local campaign activities and events.

4. Collaborate Across SUNSHINE

• Work closely with the Head of Marketing & Communications to bring campaigns to life across digital channels.

• Partner with the Head of Services & Impact to ensure campaigns reflect real community needs and insights.

• Collaborate with the Founder/CEO to align campaigns with SUNSHINE’s mission and growth.

5. Drive Movement‑Energy

• Help build a sense of pride, belonging, and collective action across the SUNSHINE community.

• Celebrate small wins, local stories, and moments of connection.

• Champion our values and embed them in every campaign.

This role is perfect for someone who:

• Loves storytelling, creativity, and social change.

• Wants to challenge stigma and spark national conversations about loneliness.

• Has experience in campaigns, activism, communications, community engagement, or social impact — or is excited to grow into it.

• Thrives in start‑up environments where you can build things from scratch.

• Values inclusion, kindness, and making information accessible to everyone.

• Believes in volunteer‑powered movements and community spirit.

• Wants to help reduce loneliness and strengthen neighbourhoods.
