Job description

HEAD OF SUNSHINE PROGRAMMES & IMPACT (VOLUNTEER)

Design, Launch and Evaluate the Programmes That Bring SUNSHINE to Life

WE’RE SUNSHINE CHARITY!!!

SUNSHINE is a small but ambitious grassroots charity on a big mission: to reduce loneliness and help people feel truly seen, valued and connected. Powered 100% by passionate volunteers, we design joyful community projects, awareness campaigns, partnerships and support services that bring people together, spread joy and community spirit, nurture connection and boost confidence and wellbeing.

Loneliness in London is at an all‑time high — and SUNSHINE is here to change that. We have the heart, the vision and the energy. Now we need the Head of Programmes & Impact to turn that vision into real‑world programmes that transform lives.

This is a defining leadership role. You will plan, design, launch and evaluate SUNSHINE’s programmes from the ground up — ensuring they are safe, joyful, inclusive and genuinely impactful.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Programme Design & Planning

  • Lead the design of SUNSHINE’s flagship programmes, from concept to delivery.

  • Translate our mission into practical, joyful, community‑powered activities that reduce loneliness and build connection.

  • Develop programme frameworks, delivery plans, session structures and volunteer roles.

2. Programme Launch & Delivery

  • Oversee the setup and launch of new programmes, ensuring they are safe, accessible and ready to run.

  • Work closely with volunteer leads to ensure smooth delivery, clear communication and strong participant experience.

  • Support volunteers with guidance, resources and problem‑solving as programmes grow.

3. Impact, Evaluation & Learning

  • Build SUNSHINE’s impact and evaluation systems — from feedback tools to outcome measurement.

  • Track what’s working, what’s changing and what needs to evolve.

  • Turn insights into improvements, ensuring every programme is meaningful, inclusive and evidence‑based.

4. Quality, Safety & Best Practice

  • Ensure programmes meet high standards of safeguarding, accessibility, inclusion and emotional safety.

  • Work with the Head of Volunteering and trustees to align programmes with SUNSHINE’s policies, values and quality frameworks.

5. Collaboration & Leadership

  • Act as the strategic anchor for all SUNSHINE programmes — keeping everyone aligned, informed and energised.

  • Collaborate with volunteer leads, trustees and community partners to grow SUNSHINE’s reach and impact.

This Role Is for You If…

  • You are a natural planner, organiser and creative problem‑solver.

  • You have experience in programme design, community projects, youth work, wellbeing, social impact or similar fields.

  • You love turning ideas into structured, joyful, safe and impactful experiences.

  • You care deeply about inclusion, emotional safety and community connection.

  • You’re based in or strongly connected to London and want to shape something meaningful for the city.

Practical Details

  • Location: Hybrid/Flexible — remote work with regular meetups in London.

  • Time Commitment: 4–6 hours per week (flexible around your life and commitments).

Why Join Us?

  • Founding Impact: You’ll be designing the very programmes that define SUNSHINE’s identity and legacy.

  • Leadership Growth: Gain high‑level experience in programme design, evaluation and community impact.

  • Movement Energy: Be part of a joyful, hopeful movement tackling one of London’s biggest social challenges.

  • Real Change: Your work will directly shape how people connect, grow and feel supported.

How to Apply

Please send a CV and a short note on why you’re the right person to lead programmes and impact at SUNSHINE. We review applications on a rolling basis — reach out today and help us build London’s kindest community programmes.
