MONTHLY COFFEE MORNINGS LEAD (VOLUNTEER)

Create Warm, Welcoming Spaces Where People Facing Loneliness Can Connect, Breathe & Belong

About SUNSHINE

SUNSHINE is a small but ambitious grassroots charity on a mission to reduce loneliness and help people feel truly seen, valued and connected. Every week, our volunteers bring warmth, joy and human connection to people who feel isolated, overlooked or alone.

Our Monthly Coffee Mornings will be one of SUNSHINE’s signature community rituals — gentle, friendly gatherings where people can meet others, share conversation, build confidence and feel part of something. We’re looking for a Monthly Coffee Mornings Lead to bring these spaces to life with warmth, organisation and heart.

Your presence will help someone take their first brave step into community. Your leadership will help people feel safe, welcomed and valued. Your mornings will become a lifeline for people who feel alone.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Creating Warm, Welcoming Coffee Mornings

  • Plan and host monthly gatherings that feel relaxed, friendly and inclusive.

  • Choose accessible, comfortable venues where people feel at ease.

  • Create a gentle atmosphere where conversation flows naturally.

2. Welcoming People Facing Loneliness

  • Greet participants with warmth, kindness and encouragement.

  • Support people who may feel anxious, shy or unsure about joining.

  • Help everyone feel seen, included and part of the group.

3. Building Community & Connection

  • Facilitate light conversation, introductions and gentle icebreakers.

  • Encourage friendships, confidence and a sense of belonging.

  • Celebrate small moments of connection — because they matter.

4. Supporting Volunteers & Coordinating the Team

  • Work with volunteers who help run the mornings.

  • Ensure everyone understands their role and feels supported.

  • Create a calm, organised environment for volunteers and participants.

5. Helping SUNSHINE Grow Across London

  • Gather simple feedback to help improve future sessions.

  • Share insights about what participants enjoy or need.

  • Help shape a model that can expand to more neighbourhoods.

This Role Is for You If…

  • You’re warm, friendly and love bringing people together.

  • You care deeply about loneliness, wellbeing and community.

  • You enjoy hosting, organising and creating welcoming spaces.

  • You’re patient, kind and comfortable supporting people who may feel nervous.

  • You’re based in or connected to London.

  • You want to help build a new charity from the ground up.

Practical Details

  • Location: In‑person across London + some remote planning.

  • Time: Approx. 3-5 Hours per week (This is a fully flexible volunteer role with no set hours)

Why This Role Matters

For someone facing loneliness, walking into a room of strangers can feel overwhelming. Your smile may be the moment they feel safe. Your welcome may be the reason they stay. Your coffee mornings may become the highlight of someone’s month — a place where they feel seen, valued and connected.

This is not just hosting. It’s community building. It’s confidence building. It’s hope — served gently, one cup at a time.

How to Apply

Send a short note about why this role speaks to you and your CV. We review applications on a rolling basis — join us and help bring SUNSHINE to life, one coffee morning at a time.
