Job description

Shape the Culture. Grow the Movement. Energise Our People.

About SUNSHINE Charity

SUNSHINE is a new, 100% volunteer-powered movement rewriting the story of loneliness and wellbeing in London. We exist to spark joy, nurture belonging, and create spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and connected. Our work is bold, people-powered, and rooted in community spirit—not corporate jargon.

We’re almost ready to launch. Our charity status is imminent, our foundations are strong, and our first pilot programmes are on the horizon.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for our founding Volunteer Volunteering Manager—a warm, people-focused, culture-shaping presence who can help build the beating heart of SUNSHINE: our volunteers.

If you’re someone who lights up when people feel welcomed, supported, and appreciated… If you love building community, nurturing culture, and helping others thrive… If you believe volunteering should feel joyful, energising, and human…

…then this is a beautiful chance to help shape a grassroots movement from the ground up.

You’ll design how people join us, how they feel part of us, and how they grow with us. You’ll help build a culture that feels uplifting, accessible, and full of heart.

What You’ll Lead

  • Volunteer Recruitment: Attract brilliant, values-aligned volunteers who want to bring joy, connection, and care into their communities.

  • Onboarding & Welcome: Create simple, friendly, human-centred onboarding experiences that help new volunteers feel confident, supported, and excited.

  • Culture & Community: Shape the culture of SUNSHINE—ensuring our movement feels warm, inclusive, energising, and rooted in belonging.

  • Volunteer Support & Retention: Check in with volunteers, celebrate their contributions, and help them feel valued and connected to the mission.

  • Training & Development: Help volunteers grow in confidence and skills through light-touch training, peer support, and accessible learning opportunities.

  • Volunteer Experience Design: Build joyful, people-friendly processes that make volunteering easy—not bureaucratic.

  • Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with our programme, fundraising, and operations leads to ensure volunteers feel supported and set up for success.

Ideally, You Will Bring

  • Experience in volunteer management, HR, people & culture, community organising, or team leadership.

  • A natural warmth and ability to make people feel welcome and appreciated.

  • A love for building community, culture, and connection.

  • Strong organisational skills and a people-first mindset.

  • A genuine passion for tackling loneliness and improving wellbeing in our communities.

Commitment & Flexibility

This is a voluntary role with no fixed hours. We understand life comes first—your time and energy are gifts, and we’ll always work around your schedule. You can step back or stop volunteering at any time.

Interested?

If you’re excited by the idea of helping build a joyful, people-powered movement from the ground up, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch and we’ll send you a short application form.

This is your chance to leave a real fingerprint heart on the future of SUNSHINE.

Ready to Build Something Beautiful?

If you’re excited by the idea of helping launch a charity that puts warmth, belonging, and human connection at its core, we’d love to meet you.
