WELLBEING WEDNESDAYS LEAD (VOLUNTEER)

Create Gentle, Uplifting Mid‑Week Moments That Help People Facing Loneliness Feel Seen, Supported & Connected

About SUNSHINE

SUNSHINE is a small but ambitious grassroots charity on a mission to reduce loneliness and help people feel truly seen, valued and connected. Every week, our volunteers bring warmth, joy and human connection to people who feel isolated, overlooked or alone.

Wellbeing Wednesdays will be one of SUNSHINE’s core weekly rituals — a calm, welcoming space where people can pause, breathe, connect and focus on their wellbeing. We’re looking for a Wellbeing Wednesdays Lead to bring these sessions to life with warmth, creativity and care.

Your presence will help someone get through a difficult week. Your sessions will help people rebuild confidence and connection. Your leadership will help SUNSHINE become a place of hope and belonging.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Designing Gentle, Uplifting Weekly Sessions

  • Plan and host weekly Wellbeing Wednesday gatherings.

  • Create a warm, low‑pressure environment where people feel safe and welcome.

  • Shape sessions around wellbeing, creativity, reflection, conversation or gentle activities.

2. Welcoming People Facing Loneliness

  • Greet participants with kindness, patience and encouragement.

  • Support people who may feel anxious, shy or unsure about joining.

  • Help everyone feel included, valued and part of the group.

3. Building Community & Connection

  • Facilitate light conversation, group moments and gentle wellbeing activities.

  • Encourage confidence, friendship and a sense of belonging.

  • Celebrate small wins and small steps — they matter deeply.

4. Supporting Volunteers & Coordinating the Team

  • Work with volunteers who help run the sessions.

  • Ensure everyone understands their role and feels supported.

  • Create a calm, organised environment for volunteers and participants.

5. Helping SUNSHINE Grow Across London

  • Gather simple feedback to help improve future sessions.

  • Share insights about what participants enjoy or need.

  • Help shape a model that can expand to more neighbourhoods.

This Role Is for You If…

  • You’re warm, friendly and love creating welcoming spaces.

  • You care deeply about loneliness, wellbeing and community.

  • You enjoy hosting, organising and bringing people together.

  • You’re patient, kind and comfortable supporting people who may feel nervous.

  • You’re based in or connected to London.

  • You want to help build a new charity from the ground up.

Practical Details

  • Location: In‑person across London + some remote planning.

  • Time: Approx. 3-5 Hours per month (This is a fully flexible volunteer role with no set hours)

Why This Role Matters

For someone facing loneliness, mid‑week can feel heavy. Your Wellbeing Wednesday may be the moment they feel lighter. Your welcome may be the first kindness they’ve felt in days. Your sessions may become a safe space where people rediscover joy, confidence and connection.

This is not just a weekly meetup. It’s community. It’s care. It’s hope — offered gently, week after week.

How to Apply
