On some occasions, you will be working alone in welcoming and leading groups at Westmill, and on other occasions you may be working alongside other guides.
You may also prefer to work as 'guide support' which is another volunteering role available that provides practical help to our guides during the tours.
Experience of work in a public-facing role would be useful, but is not essential as you will receive training from one of our existing guides, with continuing, ongoing support from the WeSET Visits Coordinator.

Volunteering abroad offers numerous benefits. Firstly, youth who volunteer are more employable due to the strong work ethic, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills they develop through their voluntary work. Additionally, volunteering can have a positive impact on your mental, social, emotional, and physical well-being by providing life-changing experiences.
Volunteering also promotes independence and helps you make your own decisions, as you may find yourself far from home, friends, and luxuries. It encourages you to be more aware of life’s issues and committed to bringing change to your community and the world. Lastly, volunteering helps you identify yourself, increases your self-esteem and empathy for other humans, especially the vulnerable, and connects you with like-minded youth.

Bright Futures UK works with young people who have been forced to take time out from education due to chronic illness. We provide programmes to help stimulate learning in addition to having a social aspect that offers respite to isolation these young people face due to their unfortunate circumstances.
We are urgently looking for a warm and energetic volunteer Geography tutor with academic qualifications (GCSE and above) to provide educational support and a fun, safe space for these young people. Tutoring experience is not essential as full training is given. Our sessions also are all currently online.

The young people we work with have missed so many experiences in school which we take for granted. The time you can offer to help fill in those missed periods is invaluable to their development. Your sessions will be fully supported by Bright Futures UK staff – from questions or queries, resources or materials or just to bounce an idea off the team, we’re here to help.
Volunteering with Bright Futures UK is something that can easily fit into your working day or a busy schedule with commitment starting from as little as 1 hour per week. We are so grateful for any support you might be able to provide, as are our young people.
We’re looking forward to working with you to help our young people reach their true potential!

Make a difference – become an Academy Governor
You don’t have to be a parent or member of staff to be an academy governor – applications are appreciated from all with an interest in the local community. Academy governors come from all walks of life and specialist knowledge is not always needed. What IS essential is a desire to get involved in children’s education and make a difference to their lives.
We welcome applications from those with educational, health & safety and safeguarding experience, but academy governors are all volunteers and training and support is provided. The University of Chichester (Multi) Academy Trust partners new governors with a ‘buddy’ – a trusted and more experienced colleague on the governing body – who initially acts as their mentor. Briefing information and assistance is also available through newsletters, websites and helplines provided by the local authority and the Department for Education.
If you would like to apply to be a governor, please contact us by email for an Expression of Interest form. Many thanks for your interest.
