As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best – whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What can you expect to be doing?

This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals, increasing social media engagement to maximise funds raised
• Marketing – spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  
• Completing administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
• Championing our work – getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. The League of Remembrance have supported Armed Forces veterans, and their families for over 100 years. At the outset they supported the widows of those who never returned from the Great War, and, as they developed, extended this support to encompass all veterans who have served with the Forces of the Crown; their widows, spouses, and dependents; retired nursing staff and, more recently, to those suffering from illness or disability in order to aid their recovery. Today, many of their Remembrance Workers deliver varied volunteer services, mainly in Greater London, but with a presence also in Bucks and Essex. This service to the community maintains and improves individual health and wellbeing, offers companionship and social interaction, and provides valuable community support.

The League of Remembrance is seeking to strengthen its Board with the appointment of two new Trustees. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting veterans and those affected by disability, and who can help shape the future of the charity as they continue to grow and evolve.

In particular, we are keen to hear from candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Entrepreneurship
• Fundraising and income generation
• Third sector leadership
• Business development or commercial strategy

Heartwood House is a dynamic education charity that supports young people who self-exclude from school and are missing education because of bullying or other trauma. They provide both an academic and therapeutic programme to enable their students to get back on track and reconnect with society. Heartwood House has been delivering services in NW London for 20 years.  They have supported many students in their return to mainstream education, further education and employment.  They work with many local authorities such as Harrow, Hillingdon, Hertfordshire, Brent, Ealing, Barnet, Camden and many more.

Be part of our Sense Holidays

Sense Holidays provide children, young people, and adults with complex disabilities the chance to enjoy new experiences, meet people, and have fun. These holidays take place at venues across the UK and typically last 4 to 5 days, including overnight stays.

Volunteering on one of our Sense holidays gives you the opportunity to share your skills to make a real difference. You will be supporting our holiday makers (children, young people, and/or adults with complex disabilities) to enjoy a holiday tailored to their needs and interests, full of fun and new activities.

Whether you are helping an individual or supporting the group, you may be needed at various times during the day and evening. Our Sense Holiday volunteers must be over the age of 18 and must be able to travel independently to the holiday location.

What you will be doing on a Sense Holiday

• Provide support for the holiday makers, encouraging them to participate and join in.
• Support Holidaymakers by finding ways to make activities accessible, with consideration on their personal communication needs.
• Building friendships with the Holidaymakers, supporting with social communication.
• Communicating any concerns, asking questions and working with your Holiday Coordinator before and during the Sense Holiday.
• Providing feedback, sharing ideas and helping create a fun atmosphere.
• Supporting Sense to maintain a safe environment for everyone and raising any concerns with the team.

• 2nd to 6th June 2025 in Lake District (Calvert Lakes)

Skills required

• Committed to supporting people with complex disabilities to communicate and experience the world.
• Previous experience supporting people of any age with disabilities and a commitment to developing skills to meet the individual needs of holidaymakers.
• Confident in adapting communication methods to effectively connect with individuals who have multi-sensory impairments. British Sign Language (BSL) level 3 or above is desirable.
• Cheerful, encouraging, and ready to embrace fun activities while inspiring others to do the same.
• Values diversity and appreciates others’ preferred communication styles.

Amy’s Place is a partnership between the Amy Winehouse Foundation and Clarion Housing, providing supported living accommodation for young women aged 18-30 in recovery from drugs, alcohol and other addictive behaviors.

An enthusiastic, reliable and compassionate volunteer with good interpersonal skills and a desire to help others. The volunteer needs to hold a professional level diploma in counselling and have training and experience working with individuals with eating disorders.

Activities

• To provide therapeutic support to young women (aged 18-30) with eating disorders
• One-to-One counselling sessions will aim to support the individual to improve self-confidence, identify and resolve negative thought processes, implement constructive coping strategies and empower them to fulfil attainable life goals
• To develop and promote a positive relationship with the women within allocated caseload
• To keep up-to-date with development in the field of counselling and eating disorder therapy
• To manage appropriate professional boundaries in the relationship
• To maintain records for monitoring, evaluation and tracking purposes plus service evaluation
• To take responsibility for own professional development

Requirements

• Hold a professional level diploma in counselling
• Hold professional membership with BACP, UKCP or equivalent
• Have own regular supervision with a qualified supervisor
• Fully trained in eating disorder therapy and previous experience supporting individuals with eating disorders
• This role requires us to carry out a check through the Disclosure and Barring Service for the Enhanced DBS

Commitment 

This is a flexible opportunity and volunteering times and frequency will vary depending on the volunteer’s availability and the needs of the residents. Ideally weekly one-to-one sessions for a minimum of 3 months.

Help residents to develop their gardening skills and knowledge specific to growing food, through group workshops and individually tailored support, guidance and encouragement.

Commitment 

This is a flexible opportunity and volunteering times and frequency will vary depending on the volunteer’s availability and the needs of the residents. It might be every week or fortnight ideally for a minimum of 3 months.

This role will require us to carry out an enhanced check through the disclosure and barring service.

Enthusiastic, reliable and compassionate volunteers with good interpersonal skills and a desire to help others. Confident working with young people between the ages of 16 - 24.

To provide social and practical support to customers. Helping towards improving the life chances of people with experience of homelessness.

Clarion Housing Group operate a number of supported housing schemes, to support people to live independently, by providing residents with the life skills they will need to eventually go on to their own tenancy.

This opportunity is based in Strood, Rochester and Gillingham (Medway).

Volunteers empower our customers to identify their existing strengths and skills so they can achieve their goals and aspirations. As a volunteer, you can support customers to achieve their full potential by developing new skills and accessing opportunities.

Activities:
-Building an empathic and person-centred relationship with a young person who may be socially isolated or lack confidence.
-Provide opportunities for young people to become more self-confident, maintain contact with important people in their lives and build-up their social networks.

Practical activities could also include:
-Empowering young people to develop independent living skills and to access educational and employment opportunities
-Helping the young people to complete forms and paperwork including developing their CV and job applications
-Helping the young people to build important life skills e.g. cooking, cleaning and budgeting
-Organising activities within the schemes i.e. art/painting, games/quizzes, cooking

Support for Volunteers:

- To attend four half days of training, receive an induction and have access to any other relevant in house and external training

- Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed

- Volunteers will have a check in with the Volunteering Officer every 3 months to ensure they are happy with the role and to resolve any issues

Are you looking for a Fundraising role that makes a real difference to a local charity?

We are looking for volunteers to join us at Morrisons Acocks Green on Saturday 23rd August 2025 and you'll join our fundraising team, collecting donations from shoppers.

 How much time will it take?  

The collection is from 10.00am – 4.00pm, but you can join us at any point for an hour or two.

Main purpose of the role

To provide telephone friendship service to veterans (and their partners) in their own homes.

Key focus

• To provide telephone friendship and companionship which is appropriate, and person centred. You will need the use of your own telephone /mobile.
• The use of a quiet safe space so you can concentrate on the call and maintain confidentiality.
• Provide telephone support to alleviate loneliness and social isolation and help to build confidence.
• Report any concerns or problems to the volunteer coordinator immediately.
• To record information about the call on the telephone log and submit this monthly.
• Read and understand the information provided as part of the induction training.
• Understand and work to the Telephone Friendship Service guidelines, boundaries and expectations.
• Adhere to Royal Star & Garter confidentiality policy.
• To take care of own Health & Safety and that of others affected by your volunteering activities.
• Promote the reputation, culture and ethos of the charity as a quality provider of excellent care and customer service.

Time commitment

Minimum of 1 hour per week. There is no time limit on the length of service, but Telephone Friends are asked to make a commitment for a minimum of 12 months.

Essential skills and attributes
