M4RD is a UK charity that is advancing rare disease training for medical professionals. The aim of our work is to help reduce diagnostic delay and improve patient experience for those impacted by rare conditions.
We work with an extensive network of patients, carers, advocates and advocacy groups to deliver training to medical schools, foundation schools, royal colleges, hospitals and trusts.
The charity is small and consists of a friendly group of staff and Trustees. The work can be intense but is very rewarding, as the charity responds to the needs of the rare disease political landscape.

Mental Health Resource is a well-established, independent charity based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. We are passionate about improving mental wellbeing in our community, and aim to do this by enabling people to feel supported and valued, providing opportunities for social connections and by raising awareness of mental health. We deliver high quality and effective services across West Kent providing safe spaces and person-centred mental health support.
We provide comprehensive services with both a focus on short term and long-term mental health support, enabling people to access our projects for as longs as they want or need support. Our beneficiaries have complex and enduring mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, self-harming, psychosis, schizophrenia and bi-polar and, on average, we work with over 900 adults and young people each year.
About the Trustee roles
You would be working with other trustees who have different skills, knowledge and experience. It's an interesting role in which you can help formulate ideas about how we as an organisation can best address the challenges and opportunities that exist in an increasingly complex and changing environment.
We would love to hear from you if you have a true interest in helping to improve the lives of those with mental health conditions in our community, and especially if you have skills or experience in working in a charity or in finance. No experience of being a trustee is necessary.
You would be expected to attend and participate in six Board meetings per year which are held via Teams/Zoom and last 2-3 hrs. The Board is also supported by two sub-committees: Finance and Risk and Marketing and Fundraising, which meet four times a year, and trustees are encouraged to also be a member of one of the sub-committees.

We are looking for a new Honorary Treasurer to join our diverse Board of Trustees. This is a key role within the organisation, offering a wonderful opportunity to make a difference to the lives of separated children arriving in the UK.
In addition to the general responsibilities of a Trustee, the Honorary Treasurer maintains an overview of The Separated Child Foundation’s financial affairs, monitors the financial administration of the charity and provides financial management advice and information to the Board of Trustees and to the Chief Executive.
Main responsibilities
• Making sure the charity keeps proper accounts

Financial overview
• Act as the main interface between the Board of Trustees and the Chief Executive on financial matters
• Advise the Board as necessary on its financial duties and responsibilities
• Maintain an overview of the organisation’s financial status and viability and provide overall financial management advice to the Board and to the Chief Executive
• Advise and monitor financial risks to which the organisation is exposed
• Oversight of and input into financial controls
• Involvement in the preparation of the Trustees’ Annual Report and Accounts (TARA) and Annual Review
Strategic input and budget monitoring
• Work with the Chief Executive to draft 1-3 year budgets to deliver the strategic plan
• Advise on the financial implications of the strategic plan
• Support the Chief Executive’s review of monthly management accounts as needed
Additionally, the Honorary Treasurer is a key member of the Management Committee, which – amongst other duties – reviews and makes recommendations to the Board on staff pay in line with the charity’s policy

We are looking for a Fundraising Trustee that can take our fundraising to the next level. The limb reconstruction process can be long, painful and challenging for patients' mental health. Rebuild has exciting plans to expand our psychological support for these patients but we need the help of an experienced fundraiser to do this.
Main responsibilities:
- Oversee fundraising and to make sure it is carried out in legal, honest and accountable ways.
- To identify funding opportunities.
- Contribute knowledge of fundraising techniques and strategies.
- To guide and advise the Trustees in the approval of the fundraising strategy and targets.
- To keep the Trustees informed about its duties and legal responsibilities in relation to fundraising and the Fundraising Regulator.
- To assess risks in new fundraising directions and alert the Board of any concerns.
- Be an active champion of the charity.
Background:
We are looking for a Trustee who has experience in any of the following areas: charity fund raising, marketing, finance, public relations, sales.
Qualities of a Fundraising Trustee
Essential:
- Fundraising/income generation knowledge or business development background.
- A good understanding of fundraising and the UK charity sector, Charity Commission, Companies House requirements, relevant legislation and statutory requirements.
- Excellent networking and communication skills.
- Sound, independent judgement and ability to think creatively.
- An ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Experience in the health sector.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of digital or social media.
- Experience of diverse fundraising practices, including statutory funds, corporate and philanthropic giving.
- An understanding of the challenges facing small UK charities in maximising income streams & donor cultivation.
- Experience in the charitable or voluntary sector.
Time commitment/location:
- The Trustee Board meets 4 times a year.
- Board meeings are usually held virtually.

- To work with the Trustees outside of the Board Meeting in developing a new fundraising strategy.

We are looking for people with experience of one or more of the following,
- Enterprise & business development: Entrepreneurial and innovative with business expertise and income generation experience. Insights into commercial activities such as repurposing facilities or partnering with other providers, to maximize the use of resources for long-term sustainability.
- Fundraising & Income Generation: Broad understanding of income generation, particularly in engaging major donors and corporate partners, with a strong focus on diversifying income streams for financial sustainability.
- Retail: Commercial or charity retail experience, with a genuine interest in sustainable practices.
- IT: Strategic guidance on maximizing effective use of IT, driving IT innovation and ensuring strong cybersecurity measures across the charity.
- Finance: Finance background with experience in managing or being part of a finance team.

About the role
As a voluntary trustee you will play an important role in the success of ECI as part of the board team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Contributing to the strategic direction of ECI.

- Governance oversight to ensure we operate within legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Networking/utilising your skills to enhance our reach and impact.

The person
The ideal candidates will have a strong belief in the value of the voluntary sector in Scotland and SCVO’s contribution to it. While previous experience as a trustee is beneficial, it’s not essential. Key qualities include strategic planning, performance monitoring, and effective team collaboration. Trustees should demonstrate good governance knowledge, sound judgement, and a values-driven approach. An understanding of the voluntary sector’s context in Scotland, coupled with the ability to challenge constructively and work collectively, is crucial to support SCVO’s mission and long-term vision.

As we look to our medium-term future, we recognise the importance of succession planning and ensuring that we have individuals with the right level of experience in the organisation’s governance. A number of our longest serving Trustees are due to finish their terms of office over the next two years, and we are therefore recruiting a ‘wave’ of three new individuals to join our Board. This will give us the perfect blend of renewal within our current membership, as well as set the organisation up positively for the future.
Key responsibilities for the role include:
- Strategic Leadership: approving and championing the vision, ethos and strategy of the Trust.
- Accountability: holding the organisation and each other to account for driving up educational standards and financial performance.
- People: ensuring the Trust recruits, retains and develops staff with the right skills, experience, qualities and capacity.
- Structures: approving and upholding the governance structure that reinforces clearly defined roles and responsibilities, and ensures the right decisions are made by the right people at the right time.
- Compliance: ensuring the Trust complies with statutory and contractual requirements as required by relevant regulation.
- Evaluation: continually monitoring and reporting against key indicators to improve quality and impact.

Although we’re open to individuals from a wide range of backgrounds (your skills and values matter to us more than anything), we’re particularly keen to hear from those with an experience in financial management, estates management and education leadership.

Who are Dance Professionals Fund?
Dance Professionals Fund is an award-winning registered charity providing financial and wellbeing support to dancers, dance teachers and choreographers. Our dedicated services bring together a range of effective ways of supporting dance professionals, including financial grants, signposting to support services, rehabilitation, career upskilling support and access to professional counselling. Dance professionals will receive unbiased support from us whatever their situation.
Role Description
We are seeking several trustees to join us from mid-January 2025 for an initial term of three years. We are looking for a range of skills and experience, including:

Knowledge and/or experience of dance or of dance teaching

Background in a finance/accounting role within a charity

Experience of benevolent funds and how they work

Background in a legal role, knowledge of charity governance

Experience of charity marketing, digital advancements

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Salary
All Trustee roles are voluntary. We will cover the travel costs of attending in-person meetings, and other costs such as childcare when required.

Dance Professionals Fund is based at The Dance Space, 2 Market Square, Circus Street, Brighton BN2 9AS.
Board meetings are held four times a year in central London in accessible locations. Committee meetings dates are in line with each Committee’s remit and are held in person or online.
