Woman United is looking for Board of Trustees members who can help take our work to the next level, and help women around the world discover the power of their voice to create change in the space of gender equality.
Our London-based charity began with a dream of helping to empower women through creative visual storytelling with an eye on changing the stories we tell about women and the way women see themselves. Since our humble beginnings, our vision has evolved and our dreams have grown, and we need to build a core team of trustees who are ready to help us execute this expanded vision. While our founding board brilliantly helped to create this vision over our first year, we are now ready to build upon the foundation they built with new perspectives, networks, and more aligned skill sets.
This is an opportunity to shape the future of an organisation with the potential to make waves through an innovative and creative approach to charity work.
We’re looking for trustees with substantial knowledge and/or experience in at least one of the following areas:
-
Finance
-
Traditional and Modern Fundraising
-
Digital Marketing and Advertising
-
Photography, Film, and the Arts
-
Activism and public speaking
-
Business development and e-commerce
-
Academic research expertise in gender equality, domestic abuse, and women’s rights issues
-
Experience in charity law and governance
You’re the kind of human who:
-
Has a knack for communicating a compelling sense of purpose to others, inspiring and leading others with an attitude of hope, vision, and kindness
-
Gets excited about mentoring and guiding those less experienced
-
Is enthusiastically able to build and use their networks to make introductions for Woman United (e.g. to facilitate fundraising or advocacy or campaigning)
-
Thrives on systems change, going against the status quo, and standing up for and doing what is right, not easy.
-
Believes in the power of creativity, storytelling, and vulnerability to inspire connection and change.
-
Loves a challenge, and Is willing to roll up their sleeves to do what needs to be done to help us build something special and gets excited in a start-up environment where there is a lot of learning, growth, and change happening.
-
Wants to build an environment of inclusivity and positivity (but not the toxic kind!), and be an active cheerleader and champion for all team members.
-
Embraces modern, innovative, and digital approaches to non-profit work, fundraising, and marketing.
Important Notes:
As we are a new and small organisation with only one staff member, we need board members who are willing and available to have a more hands-on role and commit to helping to shape and promote our work consistently. You must be able to attend our virtual Board meetings every other month and participate in direct actions including active digital and in-person fundraising, networking, outreach, and strategy sessions with the Creative director.
Woman United is committed to diversity and equality of opportunity in all aspects of our work both external and internal. We strive to be an inclusive organisation and particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups and those with lived experience with the systemic gender-based issues we champion.
While we would love applications from those with experience in the charity sector, we welcome applicants from all work experiences and industries as in the end, a charity is still a business!
These trustee positions are open to residents of the UK and are unpaid.

Inclusive Boards are delighted to be supporting Platfform in their search for three new Trustees.
Platfform is the mental health and social change charity. We are a platform for connection, transformation and social change. We work with people experiencing challenges with their mental health, and with communities who want to create a greater sense of connection, ownership and wellbeing in the places they live.
We’re driven by the belief that a strengths based approach is the foundation to sustainable wellbeing for everyone. We do not believe that people or communities are “broken” or in need of fixing.
Our work takes a trauma informed approach to understanding mental health and emotional distress, and we see the mental health, and wider health, social care and public sector systems as no longer fit for purpose. Based on illness and deficit models, they deny people the hope and agency to heal.
As part of a growing social movement, we’re working towards a fundamental shift in the way that public services are provided, so that they support people towards sustainable wellbeing and the life of their choice.
Skills/Experience
Candidates should have background/experience in the following areas:
- Financial Accounting - similar or larger scale and complexity
- Influence - Public Affairs, Policy, Research, Media, Campaigns
- Leadership, Culture and Systems - Organisational Development, Psychodynamics of Groups, Systems, Organisations, Leadership, Power & Culture; System Change
If you wish to apply for this position, please supply a detailed CV and a cover letter (maximum 2 sides) highlighting your suitability for the role, why you meet the person specification and bring to life your motivation for becoming a Trustee of Platfform – they would like to know what it is about them, their cause, or work that resonates with you personally. Please note that the cover letter explaining your suitability is an important part of your application and you will not be considered without a CV and cover letter.

Making Space is seeking a Treasurer from October 2022 onwards.
We are a craft organisation based in Havant, Hampshire, with impact across the UK.
We literally make space for people and organisations involved in craft, whether physically in our own building or digitally in our virtual networks and events.
Raising the profile of craft in all its forms, we work with local and national arts organisations, contributing to debate, supporting makers and providing opportunities.
As the lead craft organisation in Hampshire, Making Space initiates opportunities for new networks and partnership. This includes working with local arts organisations and contributing to regional and national development around craft and community engagement. Our specially tailored projects inspire, challenge, skill-up, engage and build new audiences for the sector.
Making Space is all about excellence in contemporary craft, design and the visual arts. We support makers, creating opportunities for people to develop design and making skills. We believe that being involved in high-quality craft increases people’s wellbeing.
From our purpose-built studios in Leigh Park, we deliver courses, masterclasses and projects through which children, young people and adults can learn from skilled and experienced makers. It houses seven individual studio spaces that are leased to professional makers producing high quality work, as well as two fully equipped workshops that are available for hire, either as creative spaces or for business meetings.
We are an organisation of contrasts, where high-quality craftspeople create beautiful things from contemporary studios alongside local people experiencing craft for the first time.
We are aware that an important step towards our goals is strong and diverse governance so that we can ensure our voice is meaningful and relevant to a broader community than we are currently addressing.
We are therefore actively seeking new Trustees from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic community who will help reshape our governance and be our ‘critical friends’ as we seek to engage with makers dealing with cultural, political and societal issues and a formal and informal education landscape increasingly devoid of creative opportunities.
We are seeking someone with a financial or accounting background who could take on the role of our treasurer.
Applications are encouraged from candidates from across the UK, regardless of sex, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, age, religion or belief, and from the broadest range of personal and professional backgrounds.

To support our ambition, we are looking to appoint new Board Members (Governors) to our Corporation Board – the governing body of our College. We are specifically looking for talented people who can add value to the discussions which take place at the Board and its committees through providing support and challenge to our leadership through the appraisal of reports, plans and strategies.
About the role
Nottingham College is one of the largest colleges in the UK with 34,000 students, 1,300 dedicated employees and ten campuses across Nottingham. We want to ensure that our focus is always on developing employment opportunities for our students through creative and inspirational teaching. We plan to do this through overhauling our curriculum offer to make sure the qualifications we deliver are the most appropriate for the aspirations of our students. We’ll also be heavily investing in our digital and IT infrastructure as well as continue to review the quality of our estate.
The work of a Member of the Corporation Board (governor) in setting the strategic direction of the Nottingham College and providing leadership is central to the success of the College. By becoming a Governor at Nottingham College, you will be joining a high performing board and successful college. This is your opportunity to steer provision that benefits the students, the local community and employers directly. Being a Governor at Nottingham College is hugely rewarding and is an opportunity to make a real difference to the communities served by the college.
While in some respects the role of the Board of Governors can be summed up as one of exercising “oversight” of a college and its business, the term should not be taken to imply in any sense a passive or merely symbolic role. The Board is accountable for the financial solvency of the College, its sound management and the quality of the service which it provides. The Board is also accountable for the proper use of the public funds entrusted to it.
Sound governance requires more than simply ensuring that the books balance and that the CEO & Principal is getting on with the business of running the College within the parameters established by the governors. Colleges must be able to respond to changes in direction of government policy and anticipate changing needs in their communities. The Corporation Board must be actively involved in reviewing the role of the College and in planning and managing change to ensure the long-term health and success of the college.
Who we're looking for
To support our ambition, we are looking to appoint several new Board Members (Governors) to our Corporation Board – the governing body of our College. We are specifically looking for talented people who can add value to the discussions which take place at the Board and its committees through providing support and challenge to our leadership through the appraisal of reports, plans and strategies. Based on our plans for Nottingham College we welcome interest from those with substantial leadership experience from the following sectors:
- Education (leadership/curriculum/apprenticeships/skills)
- Estates
- HR or/and organisational development
Whilst having non-executive/board-level experience is desirable, what’s more important to us is your ability to work as part of our Board and provide the scrutiny required in an organisation of this size from a place of experience. As a Member of our Corporation Board, you will become an integral part of the governance and oversight at the College.
You should live or work locally to Nottingham, as your attendance will be required at the meetings of the Corporation Board, which meets ten times per year. All Members are expected to join a committee of the Board and we can discuss this with you on appointment.

Phoenix Futures is dedicated to helping individuals, families and communities recover from drug and alcohol problems. We believe in being the best at what we do, our relentless optimism and energy for overcoming dependency motivates people with substance misuse to realise their own recovery. We know families, friends and carers need hope, care and guidance just as much as their loved ones.
The Board are proud of the achievements of the organisation. Through the pandemic staff have worked tirelessly to ensure people can access the treatment they need when they need it. We have led the sector to develop good practice approaches to treatment provision and continued to highlight the need for additional funding and local leadership to support access to treatment.
We have been delighted to see decisions made in Westminster and Holyrood that we hope will improve access to residential treatment and wider pathways to recovery for people in England and Scotland. As a group of Trustees, the board take their role seriously; reviewing their performance against sector good practice. We are currently working toward the revised Charity Code ensuring the highest standards of Governance to support the organisation.
We seek someone who is a confident communicator, with a strong strategic head on their shoulders. Experience of leading change, growth and mergers at a senior level would be ideal. As would a background in either health, criminal justice, social care, or civil service, although not essential.
Importantly, you will have a good understanding of Charity governance and have the ability to develop an effective working relationship with the CEO. You will also need to work effectively with other trustees and the other stakeholders on specific strategic issues.
Board members are expected to attend all Board meetings (four per year) as well our annual Strategy Review away day (which will involve an overnight stay). The Chair is also likely to sit on two subcommittees that will meet 2/3 times per year each. The meetings are hybrid so the choice can be made to join in person or virtually.
Phoenix Futures does not remunerate Board members but out of pocket expenses are reimbursed. Willingness to devote time, enthusiasm and effort to the duties and responsibilities of a trustee will be crucial.
We welcome both experienced trustees and those looking to take on their first trusteeship/Chair, and we want to welcome people of all ages and backgrounds to further diversify the Board.
For more than 50 years we have demonstrated our passion and commitment to support people to achieve long term recovery. Come join us and be part of our journey!

We are a small but rapidly growing charity at a pivotal moment in our evolution. We are looking for an exceptional person to take on the role of Treasurer / Trustee. The successful candidate will have a background in finance, strategy, governance and risk management.
About the Charity:
Too many people die alone, with no friends or family at their side. The need to support and empower people who are dying has never been greater. More than 600,000 people die every year in the UK, a figure set to rise to 700,000 by 2030. In a recent survey, over 70% of people questioned said they fear being helpless and dependent more than they fear death itself. The Anne Robson Trust’s vision is to ensure every person receives the compassion, comfort, and companionship they wish for at the end of their life. We are the only national charity in the UK providing emotional support for people at the end of their life and those caring for them. We collaborate with organisations to provide companionship for people in hospitals, care homes and the wider community and our national helpline provides somewhere to turn to for people approaching the end of their life, and their loved ones.

Santander Foundation trustee
We are seeking to recruit new trustees who share our ambition of improving digital and financial literacy across the UK in the communities that need it the most. This is an exciting time for the Santander Foundation as we implement our recently defined strategic plan and look to scale our support for organisations in the years ahead. To ensure that we can deliver our strategy and begin developing the Foundation as a leading organisation within the charitable sector, we are looking to further strengthen our board of trustees.
About Santander Foundation
Founded in 1990, the Santander Foundation is a corporate foundation established with the purpose of helping disadvantaged individuals and communities.
In 2021, the Foundation conducted a strategic review, informed by the impact of the pandemic, the Foundation's strategic assets and feedback from the communities which it seeks to serve and concluded that the main focus moving forward would be on improving digital and financial inclusion across the UK. To this end, we launched a new grants programme and have since provided the first tranche of funding, totalling almost £3m, to 21 organisations across the UK. At the same time, we continue to award Matched Donations to encourage current Santander employees to engage with their local community on charitable activity and support Santander UK's formal charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support. The Santander Foundation is a registered charity. It has an annual budget of £3.3m and an endowment worth £14m.
Trustee Role
As a corporate foundation, the board comprises a combination of trustees from both within Santander UK plc and respected external leaders from the third sector. The current trustees are:

- Ensure the proper investment of Santander Foundation's funds; and
- Support staff and monitor their performance.
Trustees should also make full use of any specific skills, knowledge and/or experience to help the board make positive and impactful decisions.
Each trustee must have:
- A commitment to the aims of Santander Foundation;
- A willingness to meet the minimum time requirement;
- Integrity;
- Strategic vision;
- Good, independent judgement;
- Financial acumen;
- An ability to think creatively;
- An ability to work effectively as a team member and make decisions for the good of Santander Foundation.
In addition to the duties detailed above, we are especially keen to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Knowledge of, or interest in, the financial and/or digital skills sector, including that gained through relevant lived experience.
- Be a senior leader within the organisation who is comfortable with governance, financial management and strategic planning.
- Previous experience working with local communities and/or experience building relationships with external organisations
- Experience of being a trustee and/or knowledge of charity governance is desirable, but we are also keen to support someone in their first role as a trustee.
Commitment
Trustees will need to prepare for and attend a minimum of four board meetings per year. Trustees will also be expected to support the Foundation between meetings, such as taking part in strategic work, representing the Foundation at meetings, and visiting organisations we fund. Trustees should also keep informed about Santander Foundation's activities and wider issues that affect its work. We estimate the commitment to require six days per year.
The appointments are expected to commence in July 2022 for a three-year term in the first instance.
