William Blake (poet, artist and visionary 1757-1827) and his wife Catherine lived in a cottage in the village of Felpham in West Sussex between 1800 and 1803. The Cottage is now one of the only two surviving homes where Blake lived, the other being a Georgian townhouse in London. The Blake Cottage Trust was set up in 2015 and successfully raised half a million pounds to purchase the Cottage and put it into trust for the nation. Our aim now is to renovate the building in time for the 200th anniversary of Blake’s death in 2027 and open it as a centre for the dissenting imagination; celebrating Blake’s life and works. We are therefore at the start of an exciting five-year project and we, the four existing Trustees, are looking for other people to join us in the adventure. In total we currently have six vacancies, with one being reserved for a representative from the local community.
Although the Cottage is located in West Sussex on the South Coast of England, Trustees can be based anywhere in the UK, although occasional visits to the Cottage will obviously be required. Trustees give their time free but in due course, when funds allow, we hope to be able to cover travel expenses, or similar costs. In return you will gain experience in a range of skills, including historic building restoration, property management, interpretation and educational activities. Come and join us.
The Trust was registered with the Charity Commission on 2 March 2015 (Reg 1160716) with the Company incorporated on 30 October 2014. The Charit... Read more

Nova Education Trust provides aspirant educational opportunities for over 10,000 children across its 15 primary and secondary schools in the East Midlands. The Trust is seeking to appoint two high profile and influential leaders with excellent links to the area. They will require regional insight of current and future skills needs in order to be an effective governance guardian and passionate ambassador for our Trust.
The Nova Education Trust governance structure is made up of Members, and the Board of Trustees. Trustees are accountable to the Members and responsible for the Trust’s oversight of core governance functions, the development of strategy and conducting the business of the Trust. Each of our 15 schools benefit from their own local governing body (LGB) and the LGB Chairs meet with the Chair of Trustees on a termly basis.
Members are guardians of the Trust’s governance rather than key decision-makers and sit at the top of the governance structure. They are essential to the integrity of the organisation’s governance, as they hold the Board to account for the effective strategic oversight of the Trust.
At Nova Education Trust, and in line with Department for Education guidance, we have five Members who have the collective ability to control changes to the Constitution, subject to DfE approval, and the right to remove Trustees. Members are an essential function to prevent the failure of a Trust and ensure good and effective governance. New Members are appointed by the current serving Members and there is no fixed term of office for the role.
Members meet three times a year, including the annual general meeting, to review the performance of the Trust as set out in the Articles of Association.
Nova Education Trust is seeking to appoint two locally connected leaders with a high profile within their area of expertise and strong personal or professional links to the East Midlands. As ‘guardians of governance’, both Members must have significant leadership and governance experience in order to effectively oversee the work of the Trustee Board. It is important that both Members are able to demonstrate a passion for supporting the delivery of exceptional standards of education and excellent outcomes for children.
With significant experience of education and educational leadership already represented within the current group of Members, we are now seeking to appoint influential leaders from significant regional businesses or industry. We welcome their leadership expertise, experience of the East Midlands regional economy, and their wider business and community networks for the benefit of the Trust and its young people.
The Trust aspires to provide the highest standards of education and best pathways into further and higher education, training and employment for their 10,000 strong and growing cohort of children. The leadership team, Members and Trustees are committed to building a culture of civic partnerships, collaborations with other academy trusts and schools, the local authorities, community organisations and employers. Through working in true partnership, the Trust can provide opportunities that secure successful futures for our young people.
Who we are looking for
As well as being able to commit to attending three meetings a year, you must also be a willing and passionate advocate and ambassador for the Trust, committed to understanding and promoting its educational mission to Work Hard and Be Kind.
We strongly encourage applications from a diverse range of candidates who reflect the different communities across the East Midlands region.

We are looking to recruit a new committed Trustee as our Finance Lead who can use their financial experience and expertise to guide and drive the charity forwards on the next stage of its important journey.
Every year, around 200,000 children, disproportionately from disadvantaged backgrounds, miss out on gateway qualifications for further study or the world of work. Without GCSES in English and maths at the expected standard, young people are drastically more likely to drop out of education and are locked out of many university courses, apprenticeships and key professions. On average, they will lose out on £100,000 in earnings over their lifetime which raises a significant challenge for social mobility in our country.
We know that having a tutor to provide tailored support and rebuild confidence can get students back on track –but too often, the cost of private tuition is out of reach for many young people in further education. Get Further exists to change this. We are the first charity dedicated to helping students in further education to gain gateway qualifications and get back on track by running innovative catch-up tuition programmes to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds studying in further education.
It is an exciting time to join our Board of Trustees. The charity formedin 2018, after winning the Teach First Innovation Award – a nationwide competition to find the best new ideas to tackle education inequality. From a small successful pilot in 2018-19, we have grown our reach to over 1,700 students in 21-22 and are now delivering our programmes in four regions. We have and are continuing to play a critical role in delivering extra, high-quality tutoring to young people who missed out on the grades they need but would otherwise not be able to access this support. As you can see, we have an ambitious mission. If you would like to help us achieve this mission, then please consider this role.
Essential Requirements:
- Commitment to Get Further’s mission and values, including passionate about tackling educational inequality
- Financial qualifications and experience within a charity, not for profit or business in a senior financial role.
- Proven ability to communicate and explain financial information to members of the Board and other stakeholders.
- Analytical and evaluation skills, demonstrating good judgement.
- Understanding/willingness to learn and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- Creative thinking, especially in ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion considerations are part of the charity’s decision making and strategy
- An openness to challenge and question others
- Willing to act as an ambassador to external bodies, charities and companies.
- A team-oriented approach to problem solving and management.
Desirable:
- Qualified accountant.
- Knowledge of charity SORP and aware of impending changes.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of charity fundraising and finance practices.
- An understanding of the education landscape in the UK.

We are looking for a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. As well as fulfilling the duties of a Trustee, the Treasurer maintains an overview of Tender’s financial affairs and runs the Finance & Audit Committee. The Treasurer ensures that effective and appropriate financial measures, controls and procedures are put in place and reports to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for:
- A finance professional. Knowledge of charity finance, ideally gained in a treasurer or finance role at a large or medium-sized charity is preferable.
- A strategic thinker with the ability to balance risk and opportunity.
- Clear communicator with the ability to bring the financial information alive to non-finance specialists.
- A willingness and ability to devote time each month to support the Finance & Audit Committee, CEO and Finance Manager with forecasting, setting and monitoring budgets, and liaising with auditors.
We aim to remove any barriers, bias or discrimination that prevent individuals or groups from realising their potential and contributing fully to Tender’s performance and to develop a culture that positively values diversity. We are committed wherever practicable, to achieving and maintaining a workforce that broadly reflects the local communities in which we operate. If you have the right skills for the job, we want to hear from you. We welcome applications from people from all backgrounds and with all different kinds of life experiences. We ask applicants to complete an equal opportunities monitoring form.
What difference will you make?

Tender is looking for a Trustee with current teaching experience at a senior level to join the board. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of the charity and to help us reach our goal of ending domestic abuse and violence.
Tender is an arts and education charity committed to preventing domestic abuse and sexual violence amongst young people by promoting healthy relationships. Founded in 2003, Tender has developed a wide range of award-winning arts education projects which empower young people, and the adults who work with them, to actively prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence, and promote gender equality in their schools, youth centres and communities. Through our work in London and our regional hubs, we have reached over 500,000 young people through our interactive workshops. We continue to expand; working with sixth forms, universities and corporate organisations to tackle sexual harassment.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for a Trustee who is currently in a senior leadership position in a primary or secondary school in England. This vacancy arises due to the retirement from Secondary Headship of our current Trustee with educational experience.
Our Trustees are vital to us, setting the strategy for the organisation, ensuring its financial stability and offering insights that help us to ask and answer questions. The Board of Trustees lead and control Tender and are responsible for its governance, policy and affairs. Trustees have responsibilities under charity and company law, and also under Tender’s Memorandum and Articles of Association, for directing the affairs of the organisation, ensuring that it is solvent, well run and delivers Tender’s objects. The day-to-day running of the charity is delegated to the CEO and the Senior Leadership Team.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for:
Current experience in a senior leadership team in a primary or secondary school in England, ideally in a Head Teacher or Deputy Head Teacher role.
Strong understanding of safeguarding in educational and youth settings.
A strategic thinker with the ability to balance risk and opportunity.
Clear communicator with the ability to explain policy issues affecting educational settings to people from other sectors.
You will help us to better understand the current and evolving policy framework applicable to schools and therefore better equip us to meet the needs of the schools and youth settings we work with. You will also take on the role of trustee designated safeguarding lead.
