WANTED: THE FINANCIAL ARCHITECT

ROLE: VOLUNTEER TREASURER (BOARD OF TRUSTEES)

LOCATION: HYBRID / LONDON

FINANCE: BLACK & WHITE BOOKS. NO GREY AREAS.

 

THE MISSION

URBAN YOUTH is built on transparency and agility. As we prepare to launch across London, we need a Treasurer who can build our financial scaffolding from the ground up. We don't just need someone to "keep the books"; we need a strategist who can design the systems that allow us to move fast while staying watertight.

You aren’t just counting the pennies; you are ensuring the movement has the fuel to scale.

THE GIG

  • The Foundation: Setting up our initial financial controls, bank accounts, and accounting software (Xero/Quickbooks) from scratch.

  • The Blueprint: Drafting our financial policies—ensuring they are lean, transparent, and fit for a modern "pop-up" model.

  • The Oversight: Providing the Board with high-contrast financial reporting, ensuring every pound is working toward dismantling the postcode lottery.

  • The Strategy: Advising the Managing Director and Chair on budget planning for our "Signature Event" drops and long-term sustainability.

ABOUT YOU

  • The Professional: You are a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or have significant experience in financial management.

  • The Builder: You love the "blank page" phase. You know how to set up systems that are scalable and secure.

  • The Communicator: You can translate complex "grey" financial data into "black & white" insights for the rest of the Board.

  • The Realist: You understand the constraints of a start-up charity and can help us maximise every resource we have.

THE COMMITMENT

This is a board-level role. We need a heavy lift during the Setup Phase to get the systems live, followed by quarterly board meetings and roughly 2 hours a month for oversight and reporting.
