Job description

Urban Youth – Volunteer Secretary Wanted

Help us build the foundations of a youth charity that young Londoners will feel proud to call theirs — and help keep our committee organised, focused and moving forward with confidence.

We’re so excited to be launching Urban Youth — a brand new London youth work charity created to give young people experiences, opportunities, and the space to discover themselves and the world around them. This is a youth community built on care, creativity, belonging and real connection… and now we’re looking for someone brilliant to help keep everything running smoothly at governance level.

We’re searching for our first Secretary — someone organised, reliable, warm and ready to support our Founder & CEO and our Steering Committee as we set up, launch and grow Urban Youth.

This isn’t a distant, formal board role. It’s collaborative, hands‑on and full of purpose. You’ll be helping us build the structure, clarity and organisation that will define Urban Youth from day one.

What you’ll be helping us create

With our Founder & CEO and committee, you’ll help us build:

  • smooth, well‑organised meetings with clear agendas and accurate minutes.

  • simple systems for storing documents, policies and key information.

  • strong governance processes that keep us compliant, confident and safe.

  • clear communication between committee members and the wider team.

  • organised correspondence and follow‑up so nothing gets lost or forgotten.

  • a supportive, collaborative committee culture where everyone can do their best work.

This is more than a volunteer role — it’s a chance to help shape the backbone of a youth movement that will support young people for years to come.

Who we’re looking for

Someone who:

  • loves organisation, structure and keeping things running smoothly.

  • enjoys admin, communication and behind‑the‑scenes coordination.

  • can prepare agendas, take minutes and support meeting logistics.

  • is reliable, friendly and happy working closely with our Founder & CEO.

  • can help maintain clear records, documents and governance systems.

  • wants to use their skills to make a real difference in London.

If you’re the kind of person who gets satisfaction from clarity, order and good communication, you’ll fit right in.

What you’ll get

  • The chance to shape the governance and organisational foundations of a brand‑new youth charity.

  • A meaningful leadership role that directly supports young people and the volunteers who work with them.

  • A warm, grateful team who genuinely value your time, care and attention to detail.

  • The joy of building something powerful, personal and full of heart.

  • Something that looks great on your CV and gives you real governance experience.

  • A reference for your contribution, after 6–8 months.

  • The knowledge that you helped create a youth movement that will outlast all of us.

If you’re excited by the idea of helping us build something bold, organised and full of heart, we’d love to hear from you. Come help us create the structure and clarity that will allow Urban Youth to thrive.

Let’s build something unforgettable together.

Let’s build Urban Youth.
