We’re looking for governors who enjoy challenge, thrive on impact and bring skills in education, marketing or estates and capital development to influence the future of young people and employers across North West London.
Time commitment: 10 – 12 hours per month.

About the role
The work of our Governors in setting the college’s strategic direction and improving quality, achievement, and participation is central to Stanmore College’s success.
Governors provide expertise in their area and ensure effective and high-standard collaboration. They work as a coherent unit and in close partnership with the senior management team to achieve the college’s strategic objectives.
As a Governor, you will:
- Work together with other governors, contributing your skills and expertise accordingly.
- Consider strategic developments.
- Systematically monitor college and management performance.
- Review and monitor the implementation of a range of college policies.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements at all times.
Who we are looking for
Stanmore College is looking for new Governors who thrive on challenge, and most importantly, are passionate about education, recognising the importance of vocational education and delivering positive outcomes for young people, local communities and employers from across the local area.
Candidates are sought with experience in strategic leadership in the following areas:
- Education: including those with experience of higher education, local school leadership or those working in other capacities, which provide insights into the challenges we face within the FE sector.
- Marketing: especially those with a focus on branding, communications and those from a commercial or corporate setting
- Estates & capital development: including those who have experience of working within equally large and complex organisations such as universities and the NHS
Within this role, you will make a genuine impact on the future success of the College and its students. You will support the development and influence the direction of Stanmore College at a time when we are going through exciting developments and have big ambitions for our future. Retail Lead Volunteer - PDSA
Could you support your local PDSA shop - and help us care for the pets of people in need?
Every PDSA shop needs an amazing team of volunteers to make it a success and we’re on the lookout for people to join us.
Our shops raise funds to support our 48 pet hospitals and increase awareness of the work we do to get the nation PetWise.
With some roles, you may have the opportunity to become a Lead Volunteer or to gain a nationally recognised qualification (NVQ). Lead Volunteers are trained in all aspects of running the shop and can deputise for the manager, so this is a fantastic opportunity that would really enhance your CV. There are many different ways you can help and even a couple of hours a week will make a difference.
This is a varied and responsible role where you’ll be supporting the Shop Manager and Assistant with the day-to-day running of the shop. You’ll be encouraged to lead on new projects and may be asked to provide cover when the Manager is absent from the shop.
What skills do I need?
- Are you a natural team leader and problem solver?
- Do you have great communication skills?
- Do you have previous management experience?
- Are you commercially aware?
- Do you have good IT skills?
- Are you confident working independently?

The Governing Board of Oldham College is made up of a group of 15 dedicated and committed strategic leaders who have gained their experience through a broad range of settings and sectors, including further and higher education, the NHS, local charities, local businesses and globally recognised companies.
As Chair Designate, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the strategic direction, governance and reputation of our College. You will ensure that our Board functions as an effective, cohesive and forward-thinking body that upholds the highest standards of corporate governance. You will inspire confidence and collaboration across the Board, the senior executive team and key external partners, ensuring that every decision aligns with the College’s mission to serve students, employers and the wider community. A key aspect of the role is to develop the Board itself—building a diverse, skilled and engaged team of governors.
Working collaboratively with the Principal & CEO and our other senior leaders, you will achieve the College’s objectives to maintain accountability for performance, financial sustainability and safeguarding.
