Job description

Family Mentor – Help a Family Thrive

 Southend-on-Sea
With Volunteering Matters

Behind many front doors in Southend-on-Sea are families doing their best — often while facing isolation, financial stress, and low confidence.

You could be the person who helps change that.

As a Family Mentor, you’ll build a supportive, trusting relationship with a local family. Through weekly visits, you’ll provide encouragement, practical guidance, and a steady presence that helps parents rediscover their strengths.

You won’t be expected to “fix” problems. Instead, you’ll empower families to find their own solutions and reconnect with their community.

The Commitment

  • 1–2 hours per week

  • Minimum 6 months

  • Travel expenses reimbursed

  • Full training and ongoing supervision provided

We’re Looking For

  • Compassionate, non-judgemental individuals

  • Strong listeners with patience and empathy

  • People who can offer consistency and reliability

In return, you’ll gain meaningful experience, new skills, and the knowledge that your time has directly strengthened a family’s future.

One consistent adult can make an extraordinary difference.

Apply today and help a family thrive.

Training will take place on the 13th & 14th May 2026
