Joining this role means you'll be at the heart of providing essential support to families facing the unimaginable; caring for their child who's life will be short.

Many families in Wales are unfortunately facing this challenge alone, without support from others.

As a Practical Family Support Volunteer for Tŷ Hafan, you will assist families in need with various light tasks such as cleaning, tidying up and laundry.

Your contribution will go beyond housekeeping; it's about taking some of the pressure off and giving families the breathing space they need to spend more precious time together.

This role offers the satisfaction of knowing you are making a positive impact on families with a child with a life-shortening condition, by helping them create a tidy, clean and safe home environment that reduces their daily stress and worries.

Most importantly, you will be helping us to ensure that no family faces this challenge, alone.

Considerations:

Age requirement: 21+

Location: Across South & West Wales (in your local area)

Time commitment: Flexible and can be adjusted to accommodate your personal schedule. The support plans designed for referred families are typically structured to span a period of six weeks.

Background checks: Enhanced DBS check, 2 references and induction/training course required before starting.

Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for volunteers with some skills, experience and knowledge of gardening, either as a profession or as a hobby.

Activities include:

Activities include helping families with light housekeeping tasks such as; cleaning, dusting, vacuuming and laundry, giving them the space they need to be there for their child who needs them.

Training you will receive:

You will receive a comprehensive introduction to Tŷ Hafan and your role, to include an in-person Induction and Training Programme as well as additional e-learning.

You will be a part of a friendly and supportive team who will assist you with any queries or concerns through regular and ongoing meetings.

Other role and organisation specific training is available including both supplementary and mandatory training.

All volunteers must maintain their mandatory training to continue in their role.

Role title: Collection volunteer Braehead Shopping Centre, Renfrewshire

You'll be working together with the rest of the team to raise awareness and funds. you'll be collecting for the vital work the NSPCC does, engaging with the public- promoting a positive image for the NSPCC!

We appreciate that work, family and friends come first and, with that in mind, this role offers flexibility to fit in with your lifestyle.

• Distribute collection boxes to locations such as cafes, shops, bars, restaurants and small businesses in your local area
• Replace full boxes, counting and banking funds, liaising with your local community team and organising receipts and thank you cards for supporters
• Represent NSPCC in a professional manner
• Share news about our work in the local community and help promote fundraising events and initiatives

What you'll get

You'll be part of a group of local professionals who work together to organise fundraising and awareness events/opportunities in the area as well as utilise connections and broaden NSPCC's Swindon network. Attending regular meetings is a requirement to ensure continuous progress with projects - these meetings are mostly in-person. 

What you'll do

You'll volunteer with the Board to stage a variety of corporate and community events to bring professionals and the public together to raise funds for local NSPCC services. Whether that's a networking dinner, securing sponsorship for a Christmas event, a football friendly or a relay down the river Thames - variety is what the Board is all about! You'll also support your local Community Fundraising Manager to secure support to enable the delivery of NSPCC led campaigns and events. You'll engage with the public, organisations and local communities – promoting a positive image of the NSPCC! You'll be a valued part of our Swindon Business Board, a group which has been fundraising consistently for 30 years and which sits within our Swindon Branch network of volunteers who have a legacy of supporting children in the Swindon area for 125 years.

Position Overview

Based in Madagascar, this position will work in SEED’s Community Health Department on maternal and child health (MCH), sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender-based violence (GBV). We use community-led, participatory approaches, working with local communities to identify and implement projects that meet their needs and priorities. It is a superb opportunity for an early career development professional to be part of a team of national and international staff supporting the development, funding, reporting and evaluation of our community health programmes.

Primary responsibilities include the writing of donor reports and proposals, providing additional support to the project team surrounding project management and monitoring and evaluation. The role is predominantly office-based with some travel to rural communities. The diversity of activities undertaken will provide a wide-ranging experience for an early career development professional who can effectively and efficiently deal with a comprehensive range of tasks related to the complex world of overseas development.

It is essential that the post holder is able to work in English to a high standard and have at least intermediate French. Candidates who do not meet these criteria will not be considered.

Title: Programme Intern - change of title and responsibilities to Community Health Junior Programme Officer subject to passing 3-month probationary review.

Location: Fort Dauphin, Madagascar

Probationary Period: Three months

Contract: Voluntary for 12 months, with stipend of 800,000 MGA per month towards accommodation and a contribution of £650 towards insurance

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Write project reports, to a high standard of English, that clearly demonstrate the successes and challenges of our community health projects and provide clear budgetary information

2. Compile funding proposals based on past evaluation, team discussion and International best practice in an engaging and professional manner

3. Conduct internet searches and searches through SEED’s funder database for potential donors to fund projects

4. Take a leading role in gathering statistics and ensure that all existing statistics relating to the projects are accurate

5. Work alongside the Communications and Media Officer to build a communications plan for the community health projects, writing regular Facebook, blog posts and website copy

6. Support the development of projects that fulfil local need and sit within the aims of SEED taking into account research findings, local needs and constraints, government objectives and SEED’s previous experience

7. Conduct research into international best practices with regard to SEED’s community health programme and take the lead in discussing these with the team

8. Monitor and update project trackers according to project activities, ensuring the project is on track to meet project indicators and objectives

9. Take an active role in project management meetings, leading these where appropriate

10. Take an active part in international team meetings and support to other members of the team

11. Work with national staff in increasing their skills and capacity, providing mentoring or training where appropriate

12. Assist in data collection and basic analysis where required and where there is an Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Specialist in post assist them in developing monitoring and evaluation tools and completing MEL reports for projects

13. Work alongside the Head of Project Development and Head of Finance in developing and managing the budgets relating to projects

14. Maintain a database of projects and funders alongside the UK and remote team

15. Form part of the team representing projects or SEED when required.

16. Liaise with the UK team in London ensuring clear communication at all times.

17. Ensure all of SEED’s policies and procedures are evident throughout the work of the department, including those for safeguarding, whistleblowing and anticorruption, and undertake continual training to ensure these are promoted at all times

18. Complete other ad-hoc tasks as required by the Programme Officer, Head of Community Health Programmes or Director of Operations and Heads of Departments to further the aims and work of the organisation.

Person Specification

● Hold an undergraduate in or relating to Global Health, Public Health, International Development or have transferable skills or equivalent experience

● Minimum of 1-3 years professional experience of securing funding, project management, donor compliance and donor reporting

● Demonstrate strong writing skills. Previous experience in grant-writing is an asset.

● Demonstrate sound knowledge and keen interest in MCH, SRHR and GBV and its interface with international development

● Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to SEED’s ethos and approach and be a good ambassador for SEED at all times

● Have passion, curiosity and motivation for the job and the ability to enthuse others

● Have the ability and desire to work with teams from different economic and cultural backgrounds and across multiple language barriers

● Have the ability and desire to build capacity and share skills across cultures and work with teams from different economic and cultural backgrounds and across multiple language barriers

● Intermediate French is essential and be able to hold meetings and read reports in French

● Demonstrate proven ability to recognise and appropriately deal with challenging situations

About the Organisation

SEED Madagascar is a British Charity working in partnership with communities in the southeast of Madagascar. We integrate high quality community health, sustainable livelihoods; education infrastructure and conservation programmes to support long term, sustainable change and add to international best practice through research and publication across all of our programmatic areas. We are now looking for entry level interns and junior officers to work alongside national staff and expand our team.

Events Officer has the responisbility of organising (along with the help of a Trustee Events Manager) our magical visits to children/adults with LD, this could be at the hospital, social groups, refugee centres, libraries etc etc.

They will monitor the chapter email for submitted event booking forms (some of these will come from events organised by the Events Manager on Trustees). These will then be added to the calendar and advertised to volunteers. They will ensure each event organised has a handful of volunteers confirmed within a week of the event itself. They will then provide information and support to a Lead Volunteer to run the events. They will ensure that regular events are being attended by volunteers and that they have the costume and materials that are needed for these. They will follow up after events to ensure social media posts are made, hours are uploaded and that costumes are returned. They will ensure that all volunteers are attending events.

The Chapter Secretary ensures smooth running of the local chapter by managing communication, meetings, and documentation. The Secretary is responsible for organising chapter meetings, prepare agendas, take structured minutes, and upload them to Onedrive, ensuring they are shared with all attendees. In addition the Secretary also help coordinate volunteer socials and support chapter activities.

The Chapter Secretary should have strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to coordinate meetings, manage calendars, and keep accurate records. Attention to detail, good communication skills and time management are essential in addition to being reliable, proactive and collaborative.. Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, OneDrive.

Position Overview

We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an entry level development professional who is interested in gaining skills in operations and administration areas, to join SEED Madagascar (SEED) as our Operations and Administration Officer. 

SEED Madagascar is a UK charity dedicated to creating long-term, sustainable change in partnership with communities in the southeast of Madagascar. We integrate high-quality community health, WASH, education, rural livelihoods and conservation programmes, while contributing to international best practices through research and publications.

This role is an office-based role within a team of national and international staff with occasional support in the field to our Conservation Research Team. This post is at the heart of our mission, and the diversity of activities undertaken will provide  wide-ranging experience for an early career development professional who can effectively and efficiently deal with a comprehensive range of tasks related to the complex world of overseas development.

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about providing a wide range of support to SEED’s team including providing high quality administrative support across the policies and procedures, managing the recruitment of international staff, leading on onboarding for incoming staff and our marketing and support of our short-term conservation programme volunteers.

Title: Operational Support Intern - change of title and responsibilities to Operational Support Junior Officer subject to passing 3-month probationary review.

Location: Fort Dauphin, Madagascar

Commitment: 12 months; Monday to Friday (35 hours a week)

Salary: Voluntary for 12 months, with stipend of 800,000 MGA per month towards accommodation and a contribution of £650 towards insurance

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide pre-departure logistical support and advice with visas, hotels, flights, accommodation, medication etc to new international staff and short-term conservation volunteers

2. Lead on supporting international staff during their initial time with SEED including arrival, orientation, social inclusion, cultural understanding, housing and integration into the SEED team 

3. Provide pastoral care, working with line managers to ensure that new and existing international staff and volunteers’ wellbeing is supported 

4. Support the Conservation team in Sainte Luce on providing orientations and pastoral care of volunteers when required

5. Support the Communications team with advertising the volunteer programme and helping volunteers to increase their fundraising efforts

6. Support on creating, editing and writing website content and resources to ensure organisational and project information is up-to-date

7. Support on the recruitment of international staff, including the advertisement of vacancies

8. Assist in the preparation of reports for internal and external audiences including Annual Reports and Malagasy Ministry reports

9. Work with the Director of Operations and Programmes, and the International Operations Manager in developing, updating and implementing organisational databases, systems, policies and procedures across the NGO

10. Oversee the training schedule for international staff and work alongside national and international staff to increase their skills and capacity, providing mentoring or training where appropriate

11. Work alongside the IT Officer to provide basic IT and equipment management support 

12. Support with the writing of minutes and note taking across the organisation

13. Support project teams where required to develop systems to manage donor compliance, or support with financial or administrative reporting requirements

14. Ensure all of SEED’s policies and procedures are evident throughout the work of the department, including those for safeguarding, whistleblowing and anti-corruption, and undertake continual training to ensure these are always promoted

15. Assist with administration tasks and any other tasks required by the International Operations Manager or Director of Programmes and Operations in line with the tasks of the post

Required Skills & Experience/Person Specification 

• Hold an undergraduate degree in or relating to Business or Development or be able to demonstrate a passion for this area

• Be able to work independently and be proactively

• Have good all round computing skills and experience in Microsoft Office 

• Have previous experience working to deadlines and have ability to successfully manage their time

• Communicate clearly and engagingly in written English across a range of media forms

• Communicate verbally to encompass the range of cultures you will be working with

• To have a good level of written English and be able to proofread documents to a high standard

• To have a curious mind and a patient, problem solving attitude

• Ideally have previous experience living, working or travelling in a developing country, though is not essential

• Be fluent in English. A working knowledge of French is desirable but not essential

• Be capable and comfortable adapting to life in a least developed country with sometimes basic living conditions

• Be comfortable with campsite conditions whilst supporting the team in the field for days at a time

• Be able to work and socialise within a small group of people and to be respectful and take personal responsibility for maintaining a good reputation for the NGO in the community

• Be able to adjust to life in another culture and a foreign language and be able to always work with cultural sensitivity

This is a fantastic opportunity for an early career Junior Media and Communications Officer to be based with an NGO in the heart of Madagascar.

Living in the coastal town of Fort Dauphin in the southeast of Madagascar, this role will support the team managing SEED’s media and communication work. The successful candidate will work with both national and international staff to assist on a wide variety of tasks, from supporting with planning and scheduling content across our range of social media platforms, creating digital media for marketing and social media and day-to-day administration tasks. The role is predominantly office based with some ad-hoc travel to our rural projects. The diversity of activities undertaken will provide a wide-ranging experience for an early career communications and media professional who can effectively and efficiently deal with a comprehensive range of tasks related to the complex world of overseas development work.

Duties and responsibilities

• Create and write social media, website and newsletter content with staff across all departments in line with SEED’s strategy

• Work with the Senior Media and Communications Officer to develop and edit content, ensuring different platforms are used to best advantage SEED’s positioning 

• Provide timely, day to day monitoring and replying to questions and debates across platforms

• Support the development and strategy of individual giving and fundraising campaigns, through all stages

• Work with the Senior Media and Communications Officer and Project Officers to storyboard and develop content as well as engaging and creative social media and awareness-raising campaigns 

• Support the review and evaluation of social media platforms against marketing KPIs 

• Occasional travel to field sites to generate content to be used on social media and other outlets at the direction of Senior Media and Communications Officer 

• Shoot and edit visual high quality content that documents project activities at a national and international level

• Build capacity within the wider team, improving communication between teams internally and with external partners

• Support with the promotion of the organisation through editing blogs and articles

• Work with the IT Officer to maintain and advance the organisation’s website

• Ensure distinctive and consistent brand identity across all communication outputs

• Provide research as directed on industry trends, potential partners and content topics

• Ensure all of SEED’s policies and procedures are evident throughout the work of the department, including those for safeguarding, whistleblowing and anti-corruption, and undertake continual training to ensure these are promoted at all times

• Complete other ad-hoc tasks as required by the Senior Media and Communications Officer, International Operations Manager, or Director of Programmes and Operations to further the aims and work of the organisation. 

Person specification

• Demonstrate a working knowledge of high-quality photo and video content generation and management

• Have experience of creating social media content, marketing or promotional work in line with SEED’s values 

• Willingness to develop visual content using editing skills with software including Canva

• Display exceptional verbal and written communication skills

• Be able to communicate the organisation’s ethos and mission to national and international audiences through photography, videography and copy writing 

• Have passion, curiosity and motivation for the job and the ability to enthuse others
