What we're looking for:
We need enthusiastic and outgoing volunteers who can cheer as loudly as possible for our runners as they go past our cheer points. Every year thousands of people join Team NSPCC to take on a challenge and raise money to help protect children and prevent abuse. Together with other cheerers, you'll make a huge difference to how our runners feel – helping them to complete a challenge they've spent months preparing for.
What you'll do:
You'll be joining other lively and enthusiastic cheerers at one of our NSPCC cheer points along the route – be ready for cheering, clapping, whooping or even singing. It's a team effort, so you would also help with setting up the cheer point, giving out t-shirts and cheering materials, making sure the area is kept tidy and helping with packing down.
We have several cheer points along the course, with staggered start times. We'll be in touch to arrange with you what time to arrive, where to meet and what to expect. You don't have to be an official cheerer to come along and support team NSPCC. So if you can't make the full-time or to one of our cheer points, we'd still love to see there, just look up the event time and come along.
What you'll get:
Volunteering at our events is a great way to experience the fantastic atmosphere of event days, without the training! The atmosphere at our cheer points is amazing, and we'll provide you with cheering materials and an NSPCC t-shirt so all you have to bring is your enthusiasm.
You'll be accompanied by NSPCC staff to support you and answer any questions you may have. Refreshments will be provided at the cheer points, and travel expenses will be covered up to the value of £5.
Who's right for the role?
You don't need any prior experience, just a sense of fun, team spirit and enthusiasm. It's important that you're able to spend a few hours outside, spending lots of this time cheering and clapping. You'll also need to stand for a few hours so, if you think this would be difficult, we'd advise bringing along a travel chair. If you are a wheelchair user, please let us know and we can help to identify a suitably accessible cheering point for you.
You'll need to feel comfortable if members of the public ask you about your volunteering role and will simply need to direct them to a member of staff if they have any questions about the NSPCC. We need volunteers with a warm and friendly manner, as the NSPCC is 90 per cent funded by public donations so the impression people have of us is incredibly important.
Please be aware that you'll need to make your own way to your cheer point (we will give you directions).

Washington’s amazing inner grounds have a lot of infrastructure which requires regular maintenance. By volunteering your time with us you will be helping to ensure that Washington’s play area is maintained to the highest standard for our visitors, helping families make memories in our amazing wetlands.
What will you be doing?
- This role will be varied, and will involve a lot of daily maintenance/minor repair of the play area, including:
- Inspection of play area to identify work required and ensure it is in working order (training will be given in line with our Play Inspection system)
- Cleaning of play equipment and ground surfaces using brushes, mobile jetwash and environmentally safe detergents
- Raking and replenishment of woodchip and sand
- Weeding of play area
- Identifying and undertaking minor repairs of equipment and pathways within the play area
- Managing vegetation around the play area and its pathways
Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need.
Who are we looking for?
- Someone who should be committed to good customer service and willing to engage our visitors with the work of WWT.
- Any volunteer should be able and willing to undertake a range of physical activities outside in all weathers.
- Previous experience with the use of hand tools would be an advantage, although not necessarily a necessity.
- Proactive and able to work with a minimum of supervision, under the direction of the grounds team.
- Must have excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.

About It’s Time:
It’s Time is a charity created by and for young adults who have experienced the death of a parent. Founded by people who know this grief first-hand, the charity ensures no one aged 18–35 has to navigate such loss alone. Through peer-led support, events, free group therapy, and tailored resources, It’s Time offers connection and understanding during an often isolating time. Do you have financial skills and enthusiasm to help an organisation that provides “a home for living life” for adults with learning disabilities?
You could be the next Treasurer for Anthony Toby Homes, an incorporated charitable company that runs two residential homes in Wokingham, Berkshire.
Set up in 1974 to ensure that individuals with learning disabilities should have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else, the charity opened its first home in 1998 and now runs two homes, for sixteen people with learning disabilities.
With an Unrestricted Income of £1.1m in 2024, and a substantial Balance Sheet of £4m, the charity is poised to continue its mission; both homes achieved a Good CQC Rating.
What we need from a new Treasurer
Our Board includes people with experience and skills in supporting people with learning disabilities, and we’d expect our new Treasurer to have empathy with our cause and our beneficiaries.
While your prior experience of managing finances, bookkeeping or similar is highly important, understanding of current financial practice for charities or SMEs would be useful; a grasp of the Charities SORP & FRS 102 would be welcome, but is not essential. Ability to communicate financial information clearly, especially to other trustees, is important. Support from our employees is always available, as they deal with the day-to-day finances.
Full induction to our organisation will be provided, plus support as a new trustee, including access to external training.
We are a charity not a business, but we apply business principles to governing our organisation. We want to expand the diversity of our board, in all meanings of the word, and strongly welcome applications from people from less-represented groups.
The focus of a trustee role is strategic, and trustees will not be expected to get involved in operations on a day-to-day basis; however, regular liaison with other trustees and employees is expected.
We ask for up to ten hours per month, which includes all meetings, discussions, etc. You will need access to digital communications, as much of our charity’s business is run that way.

Key tasks
There is a variety of tasks within the above mentioned roles that our volunteers get involved with, including:
- Welcoming and assisting customers with their purchases, providing them with great customer service and a delightful shopping experience
- Receiving donated items from members of the public
- Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated items for sale
- Creating visually appealing window and in-store displays
- Keeping the shop floor well stocked, clean and coordinated
- Processing sales and serving at the till
- Signing up gift aid donors
- Stock rotation
- Identifying special or valuable items within donated stock

We are seeking to appoint a volunteer Van Driver, who would work alongside the member of staff responsible for our established Food Bank. They will also be undertaking other tasks related to the Food Bank, e.g. Putting together food parcels and stock rotation.
Maidstone Homeless Care is a well-established charity supporting homeless and vulnerable people in the Maidstone area . We run an active day centre, busy food bank and a small residential unit supporting homeless people.
The Day Centre and Food Bank are open every morning, Monday to Friday. Cover will be required Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

We’re on the lookout for a volunteer who’s keen to make a real difference in our communities — and pick up some new skills along the way!
This is a unique opportunity to gain a recognised qualification while helping residents at Asquith Court and Charlotte Court enjoy regular chair-based exercise sessions. These schemes don’t currently have any sessions, but they’re really keen to get started — ideally once a month to begin with (and maybe more if it’s a hit!).
We’ll support you every step of the way, including covering the cost of your Amac Certificate in Chair-based Exercise Instructing - which you can complete online at your own pace. Once you’re qualified, we’ll work with you to build a schedule that fits around your availability.
Each session will last up to an hour, and we’ll also cover your travel expenses between the two schemes.
Because you’ll be working with potentially vulnerable residents, you’ll need to be 18 or over to take on this role.
