Main responsibilities
In addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee, duties of the chair include the following.
• Providing leadership to the organisation and the board by ensuring that everyone remains focused on the delivery of the organisation’s charitable purposes in order to provide greater public benefit

As an Enhanced First Response Volunteer, you will drive our hire car and go out with a partner volunteer to look for referrals made by StreetLink, engaging with those found sleeping rough, and passing on information to the Outreach team. Enhanced First Responders play a crucial role in ensuring people sleeping rough receive vital support from the Outreach team to move away from the streets and get connected to other local services. It’s fantastic that you would like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s! As a First Response Volunteer, you will help find those rough sleeping quicker, and enable Outreach workers to spend more time supporting those found to move away from the streets and get connected to other local services. First Responders play a crucial role to ensure people sleeping rough receive vital support. This is not a client-facing role and therefore is well suited to somebody looking for their first role in the homelessness sector. However, we do also offer development opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge about rough sleeping for those interested.
What will I be doing?
- Respond to StreetLink referrals including those from members of the public and self-referrals.
- Working with a partner volunteer to locate referrals and identify those who are rough sleeping.
- Passing information about referrals to the Outreach team to follow up on – they will help the person find accommodation and link them into non-accommodation-based support for example around physical or mental health.
When will I be volunteering?
Please see all locations and the time commitments we are currently recruiting for in this role:
- Reading - Mondays and Fridays, 6am-8:30am (1 shift per month)
- Westminster -Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, 8pm-12am. Saturdays, 6am-10am (1 shift per month).
- Oxford - Thursdays, 6am-10am (1 shift per month) *Please be aware for Oxford this will be driving shifts, so you and your partner volunteer will be driving between referrals. If you are interested on being a driver volunteer, you must be over 25. If you don’t drive, you can support with navigation between referrals, and updating if referrals are found or not found.

The Role
Acorns have a network of shops across the West Midlands that generate a substantial level of income to enable us to care for children and their families. Our empowered Replenishment and Merchandising Volunteers support the team by replenishing stock on the shop floor and by merchandising it in an eye catching and engaging fashion.
How much time will it take?
Our shops are open Monday to Saturday (some open on Sundays too), 9am to 5pm. You can volunteer the hours that suit you, but ideally we’ll need you to be available for at least 3 hours per week.

Chrysalis Supported Association is a registered provider of social housing, specialising in providing accommodation and support to vulnerable adults across the UK.

We have two positions, one as Chair. This is an unpaid role but we offer a programme of board development to all trustees and paid expenses.
What are we looking for?

Role Summary
We are looking for a new Chair of Trustees who will offer strategic and supportive leadership to our highly effective, collaborative and committed Board. The Chair leads the board, ensuring that it governs the charity effectively, in service of the charity's vision and mission. Chair role & responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership to the charity and the Board, ensuring that Glass Door achieves its mission with the interests of Glass Door's guests at its centre.
Work collaboratively with the CEO, staff and volunteers to achieve our mission and optimise the relationship between the Board and Glass Doors's staff and volunteers.
Provide leadership within the Board, ensuring that it fulfills its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation and promoting governance among fellow Trustees, providing clarity around boundaries between governance, management and operations.
Plan and chair the bi-monthly board meetings and the AGM, with colleagues as appropriate and liaise with the CEO, Company Secretary and Governance Trustee with regard to setting up meetings, agenda items and annual report content.
Facilitate meetings ensuring all have equal involvement in discussions, clarifying any uncertainties, confirming decisions made and actions to be taken and ensuring effective time management of meetings whilst providing appropriate periods of discussion and reflection.
Act as a spokesperson and figurehead for Glass Door when required.
Support Glass Door functions and events eg attendance at supporter events.
Support the Head of Fundraising & Major Donors with the cultivation of high-level donors, occassionally attending meetings where value can be added.
Represent the Board at staff Town Hall meetings.
Support the team liaising with partner churches and statutory authorities as required and be the public face of Glass Door in the local community.
Liaise with the CEO and he Board to keep an overview of the charity's affairs.
Provide supervision and support to the CEO as necessary in addition to planned monthly/bi-monthly 'catch up' meetings and, with the People Trustee, lead the CEO's annual performance review.
To act as final stage adjudicator for disciplinary and grievance procedures if required.
What we are looking for
Experience of being a Trustee, ideally in the third sector, and an understanding of the legal responsibilities and liabilities of a Trustee/Director.
A keen sense of strategic purpose.
Strong leadership skills, able to foster and promote a collaborative team environment and an inclusive and collaborative leadership style; able to inspire and support everyone to participate on an equal footing.

Project Overview:
The Z House is an overnight accommodation for young people (18-25) at risk of or experiencing homelessness. The project aims to provide stable overnight accommodation for young people as they work towards a move-on goal. The project will work with the young people staying there to help them build skills necessary for maintaining independence beyond the project.

Role description:
This role is key in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment overnight at the Z House. Overnight duties involve interacting with the young people in the communal space if they want to, doing any necessary house duties, and responding to any emergencies should they occur (guidance will be given and you will never be left alone to deal with incidents!). It also includes providing a hand-over to the staff at the end of the shift. You will form part of a pair of volunteers, and there will always be a Caring it Bristol staff member on-call. A typical shift runs: · Arrive at the house at 20.00
· Letting in any guests who arrive late (before the 22.00 curfew)
· Checking in with the guests
· Conducting any house duties
· The shift is a sleep-in shift - You are allowed to sleep in the volunteer area during this shift, though remaining available to respond to incidents and emergencies should they occur
· Record any incidents or safeguarding concerns and include this in your handover – you will be trained in the procedure of what to do if this occurs
· Create a comprehensive handover for next the set of volunteers on shift and for the Z House project coordinators.

Fight for Home Champion - Norfolk
Role summary: Do you want to join our movement and defend the right to a safe home? Our Fight for Home Champions play a vital role in representing Shelter at local events and functions, speaking about our work and encouraging more people to support our movement for change. Our Champions also promote our local Shelter services and our campaigning work to tackle the root causes of the housing emergency.

Community Volunteer - Norfolk
Role summary
Do you want to join our movement and defend the right to a safe home? We’re looking for volunteers who can join us at events in the community to help us raise money and raise awareness! This is a highly flexible role. We’ll let you know about upcoming events, and you choose which you’d like to attend or do. The housing emergency hurts everyone. The fight to end it starts here!

- Availability: This is a flexible opportunity, with events taking place at different times and on different days over the year. You choose the ones that suit you.

Main tasks
This is a flexible and diverse role. Here are some of the activities you might get involved in:
- Support some of our community fundraising activity such as holding collection tins in public spaces or bag packing in supermarkets.
- Volunteer at a range of events including community fairs, gigs, Pride marches, sporting events and street stalls.
- Help us grow our movement for change by supporting petitions and raising awareness of our calls to action through social media.
