At Bikes Beyond Bars, we take donations of unwanted bikes to our prison workshops across the UK, where their workshop tutors teach men how to refurbish them. Prisoners earn a bike mechanics qualification, gain employable skills, and find a new sense of purpose and hope.
Bikes leave the prison workshop and are taken to our Bristol Hub. There, Life Cycle’s mechanics and team of volunteers check, tweak, and prepare them for sale.

Eat Smart is a successful primary school educational programme born in the NE of England designed to inspire children and schools to reduce food waste and build sustainable food systems. We deliver engaging resources and learning experiences that empower schools and pupils to have more ownership of their kitchens/dinner halls, improve student wellbeing, and have increased environmental awareness.
Since 2018 Eat Smart has enabled 70 schools in North East England to rescue their food waste by over 25%, equivalent to saving 6,000 meals worth £13,000 per school, per year, and our expansion to other areas of the UK has already begun. With an ever-growing data set and credibility for school food waste prevention, we have increasing potential to affect school food policy and deliver food waste prevention interventions on a national level.
Bind is expanding its work to ensure food waste prevention, not just redistribution, is at the heart of our mission. Bind works in partnership with businesses, local authorities and community groups to help them reduce their food waste, and reduce their food bills by using surplus food in their kitchens. We are well recognised in the North East and lead various partnerships of public, private and voluntary sector organisations, tasked with reducing food waste at a strategic level.
About the Trustee Role
As a Bind Trustee, you’ll be at the heart of our strategic vision. You’ll make key decisions and help guide our Board and CEOs to maximise Bind’s impact. Established in 1996 Kent Wildlife Enterprises (KWE) receives and manages our core ‘non primary purpose’ trading income. This includes income generated through retail, our extensive events programme, and our Visitor Centre activities. KWE also receives the funds generated from our reserves through Nature-based Solutions (NbS) activities, including the sales of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and carbon units.
In 2026 KWE anticipates realising the benefits of an enhanced visitor experience at our Sevenoaks Visitor Centre following its refurbishment over the last year, as well as a refreshed online retail offering following the launch of our new KWT website.
At a time when the nature and climate crises is becoming all too real, it is critical for the Trust to maximise income opportunities to support its work. KWE donates all its year-end profits to the parent charity to this aim. Waweza Social Enterprise links coastal women producers to fair markets and reinvests profits into the next generation of agri-preneurs to build a resilient, food-secure future.
In coastal Kenya, youth make up over 75% of the population, yet fewer than 10% are engaged in agribusiness due to systemic barriers like lack of training and resources. At the same time, recurring droughts and limited market access have left 85% of local women living below the poverty line. These women, who are the backbone of food production, face immense challenges in scaling their micro-businesses and protecting their families from environmental shocks.
Waweza addresses this through the Youth and Women Economic Lab (YOUWEL) project. We bridge the gap by purchasing products—such as goats and hand-woven baskets—directly from women at fair prices and reselling them in high-demand urban centers.
