The Forum is looking for three new trustees to join our board as we launch a new strategy and look to develop our profile, attract new members and enhance our services. With a board of trustees who are experts in charity finance, we are endeavouring to broaden and the skill base and diverisify the trustee profile in perperation for eventual succession.
So if you have digital skills and or marketing experience you could help us become a much better known and digitally competent small but effective membership body. In addition the Forum is also looking for a trustee with fiancial skills and experience to complmemnt the current expertise.
The Forum operates across the UK and the trustees meet quarterly twice a year in person in London and twice by zoom. Meetings are normally 1 to 2 hours in length. There are also several opportunities a year to chair several of 1.5 hors zoom events and the opportunity to attend 2 in-person events hosted by our sponosr and or a corporatem meber in London with these in peson meetings lasting 2.5 hours but give a great opportunity to meet individual members.

Adoption Matters is a children’s charity and one of the largest voluntary adoption agencies in the UK. Commitment
Trustees are expected to attend all board meetings which are scheduled to accommodate trustee’s availability. Most meetings are done via video conferencing, and on occasion we meet in person at a suitable location. Individual commitments are agreed between each trustee and the Chair of the board, but the following is a general guide.

Candidates must be passionate about our campaigning: for sufficient funding for Britain’s waterways; the sustainable operation of navigations; restoration of closed waterways; and our work to make the waterways great places to live, work, travel, play, and for wildlife, nature recovery and mitigating climate change.
Most Trustee meetings are held online. However, we feel it is important to meet in person and to visit sites and events from time to time. Reasonable expenses are covered. We are committed to improving the diversity of our Board. We're Looking For People Who:

- Can dedicate approximately 2–3 hours per month to trustee responsibilities.
Skills and Experience We Need
We are particularly interested in hearing from people with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Fundraising
- Charity or business development
- Marketing and communications
- Legal services
- Human Resources
Previous experience as a charity trustee is welcomed but not essential.

What We're Looking For
Successful candidates will:
- Understand the responsibilities and legal duties of charity trustees
- Be passionate about equality, inclusion, and empowering people with learning disabilities
- Be committed to making decisions that put the needs of our service users first
- Support our mission of delivering outstanding, person-centred services
Time Commitment
- Board meetings take place approximately every 6 weeks
- Meetings last approximately 2 hours
- Most meetings alternate between online and in person in Wimbledon
- The role is voluntary and unpaid, although reasonable expenses can be reimbursed

The Treasurer leads oversight of the financial management of BCT and supports the Board to understand the organisation’s financial position, resilience and future outlook. The role includes reporting to the Board on financial health and risk, in line with best practice and legal requirements. The Treasurer helps ensure the Board is well equipped to make informed financial decisions. They chair the Finance & Audit Committee and report back to the Board.

We are looking for our next Chair of Trustees – someone who will work closely with our Executive Team and Board to guide the organisation through what is both a challenging and genuinely exciting time. The funding environment is tough. The political context is difficult. And yet the need for what we do has never been greater.
This is an unpaid voluntary role. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with our Volunteer Expenses Policy.
The successful candidate will lead a vibrant, well-established, national charity as it navigates the next chapter of its story.
Main tasks
- Developing and setting our future strategy, alongside the Executive Team and other Trustees
- Helping shape and deliver our future, identifying opportunities in an evolving landscape
- Leading the Board of Trustees, including regular 1:1s and providing space for reflection
- Acting as a 'critical friend' to our Executive Team, as well as formal line management to the CEO (and COO in their absence)
- Acting as an ambassador for the charity – raising awareness of what we do and engaging potential supporters and other key stakeholders
- Responsibility, along with the other trustees, for the governance of the charity
- Contributing to the ongoing strategy of the charity, in line with our charitable objectives
- Participating in board meetings and sub-committees in an inclusive and thoughtful way

The Elizabeth Fry Charity provides support to women, mostly on licence from prison, who have a range of complex needs. Through our work, we help women to begin to address the issues they face, improve their lives and reduce the likelihood of further involvement in the criminal justice system.
The Elizabeth Fry Charity provides a 25-bed Approved Premises in Reading, enabling women to access accommodation, support, and monitoring.
As the Charity continues to grow and develop its services, we are seeking to strengthen our Board by recruiting a Trustee with finance, accounting, or audit experience.
To achieve our strategic plans, we require strong financial oversight to support sustainable growth, ensuring robust financial management and governance across all activities. We are therefore particularly interested in individuals who can bring:
- Professional experience in finance, accountancy, or audit (chartered or qualified desirable)
- Experience in financial governance, risk management, and internal controls
- Ability to interpret financial statements and support budget setting and monitoring
- Strategic insight into financial planning and sustainability within a charitable or regulated environment
Trustees, both individually and acting together as the Board, use their skills, knowledge, expertise, and contacts to govern the Charity, safeguard its assets and apply them as efficiently and effectively as possible to further its charitable objectives.
In this role, the Trustee with finance expertise will support the Board and Senior Management Team in maintaining strong financial oversight, contributing to strategic decision-making, and ensuring the Charity’s resources are used effectively to maximise impact.
We are interested in hearing from anyone who is passionate about the work we do and feels they can contribute to the success of the Charity.
The Board of Trustees meets five times annually at Elizabeth Fry House in Reading. Trustees are invited to participate in either our Finance or People and Safeguarding Committee, both of which meet four times a year. Additionally, Trustees conduct scheduled visits to the Approved Premises throughout the year.
