Do you want to make a difference to the lives of local people with mental health conditions? We are looking a Trustee who can think strategically and complement the existing Board.
Mental Health Resource is a well-established, independent charity based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Our aim is to improve mental wellbeing in our community by enabling people to feel supported and valued, providing opportunities for social connections and by raising awareness of mental health. We deliver high quality and effective services across West Kent providing safe spaces and person-centred mental health support.
We provide comprehensive services with both a focus on short term and long-term mental health support, enabling people to access our projects for as longs as they want or need support. Our beneficiaries have complex and enduring mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, self-harming, psychosis, schizophrenia and bi-polar and, on average, we work with over 900 adults and young people each year.
About the Trustee roles
You would be working with other trustees who have different skills, knowledge and experience. It's an interesting role in which you can help formulate ideas about how we as an organisation can best address the challenges and opportunities that exist in an increasingly complex and changing environment.
We would love to hear from you if you have a true interest in helping to improve the lives of those with mental health conditions in our community, and especially if you have skills or experience in working in a charity or in finance. No experience of being a trustee is necessary.
You would be expected to attend and participate in six Board meetings per year which are held via Teams/Zoom and last 2-3 hrs. The Board is also supported by two sub-committees: Finance and Risk and Marketing and Fundraising, which meet four times a year, and trustees are encouraged to also be a member of one of the sub-committees.
For further information about the role, please see the Recruitment Pack (which is accessible after you click 'Quick Apply')
We provide safe spaces and person-centred support to improve people's mental wellbeing

Could you become a CRT Trustee?
Are you passionate about restoring the countryside? About maintaining working farms and woods, promoting nature- and landscape-friendly farming?
Do you have professional skills in ecology, conservation, environmental land management, nature-friendly farming, countryside education and/or community engagement, fundraising or marketing, and live near one of our major properties? And ... would you be prepared to offer your time and experience as a Trustee?
The Countryside Regeneration Trust is seeking new trustees to help to steer the charity forward at a very exciting time. Our plans for the next ten years will involve greater engagement with local communities around our larger farms in Cambridgeshire, Herefordshire, Dorset and south-east England. We are also stepping up agroecological approaches to land management, with nature at the heart of food production. This includes new activities to restore nature where opportunities exist to do so.
Helping to manage a national charity is not for the faint hearted. Trustees must make important decisions, be prepared to face challenges and be confident in overseeing the management of the organisation – its finances, staffing, policies and other work that is vital for delivering the charity’s objectives. As a national charity, the CRT is supported by a team of staff, contractors and tenant farmers who undertake the day-to-day work of the organisation. The Trustees provide essential oversight for them.

• Trustees work collaboratively the CEO and senior leadership team, in working groups and committees. Typically, these committees will meet 4-6 times a year. These meetings are mostly online; new trustees will join two of these committees.
• Occasional further contribution to provide mentoring, advice, and guidance.
• Trustees are elected for a term of three years, which may be renewed for one further three-year term.
Trustees are the sole members of the charity.
Further information about the charity is available on the website. Our latest annual report and accounts can be downloaded from the Charity Comission website.

An exciting opportunity to join the Board of Trustees at an ambitious charity looking to help students from disadvantaged backgrounds to gain gateway qualifications in further education and get back on track.
ABOUT GET FURTHER
Get Further is the first charity dedicated to providing high-quality tuition to students facing challenges in further education, adult education, and the apprenticeship sector. Every year, 200,000 children – disproportionately from disadvantaged backgrounds – do not achieve the expected standard in crucial English and maths qualifications while at school, locking them out of many university courses, apprenticeships, and key professions.
Twice as many disadvantaged 16- to 18-year-olds go to further education colleges than school sixth forms, and yet for too long, the needs of students in further education have not taken centre stage in education policy or funding. We work in partnership with further education providers to prove that, when given the means, all young people can build the skills needed to progress in education and work.

Upmo are an Edinburgh-based charity that provides support and opportunity for adults with learning disabilities and autism across Edinburgh, East Lothian and Midlothian. Upmo was founded in 2006 by Josh Barton and inspired by the belief that services for adults could truly be exciting, dynamic and meaningful.
In 2006, adults with learning disabilities lacked opportunities in higher education and there was a lack of understanding around individual needs. Those who understood the needs of service users operated with limited scope to encourage, inspire and motivate. As a result, many service users were isolated and desperately in need of opportunities to become more socially engaged, active and valued.
The response from Upmo was combining progressive learning within an educational curriculum and the development of support service provision – placing the needs of students at the heart of services. Distinguishing themselves by adopting an unconventional approach, Upmo provides custom-tailored support services alongside a well-regarded curriculum featuring creative workshops, educational activities, and vocational programs. The charity has also expanded its impact through a growing number of social enterprises aimed at creating job opportunities and preparing students for employment.
Upmo are looking for a number of committed and motivated individuals, from any background, to join their Board of Trustees and to help steer Upmo through a time of exciting opportunity and development.
As members of the Board, Trustees have the overall responsibility of running the charity. The current Trustees come from a diverse range of backgrounds, and through their wide-ranging and complimentary skills and life experience, contribute to the strategy and oversight of the charity’s operations. Being a trustee is a rewarding experience, which can also offer opportunities for personal development and growth outside of the workplace.
To be considered for this role, you should have strong communication, interpersonal and writing skills, coupled with a proactive attitude towards learning and a collaborative spirit. Additionally, strong analytical and problem-solving skills are key. Regardless of your background, if you embody qualities such as a genuine concern for others, honesty, integrity, and an alignment to Upmo’s mission, we encourage you to reach out for more information.
The Board of Trustees meet four times per year, with every second meeting being held in person in Edinburgh. It is important that trustees allocate sufficient time to read Board papers and prepare for Board meetings. However, this is not onerous, and the time commitment should be no more than 2-4 hours per month on average.

Who we are.
Age UK Kensington & Chelsea (£3.1 million) is a community-based charity working in the heart of Kensington and Chelsea to ensure that older people’s voices are heard, their needs are met, and their independence is supported.
We are a team of 95 staff who provide a wide range of services including advice and information, and a variety of activities which improves well-being and addresses the issues of loneliness and isolation among older people. Our services range from informal social and leisure activities through to more practical assistance, social prescribing and in light of the pandemic, delivering large-scale humanitarian response from the first day of lockdown in 2020. We are part of the fabric of Kensington and Chelsea – a diverse and vibrant borough with a need and demand for more services and innovation for older people.
Prior to the pandemic, we introduced in partnership with the NHS, My Care, My Way, which has continued to grow from strength to strength with over 40 health and social care prescribing coordinators working with over 7,000 patients to provide support to reduce hospital admissions and promote independence. More people are living longer lives and as an organisation, we need to be fit for the years to come and ready to deliver the services our older people tell us they need. We are developing innovative new offers such as our recent pilot to deliver an evidence-based long-term supportive intervention for people living with dementia and exploring how exciting developments in technology can best support people as they age. We are a values-driven charity and older people are at the heart of everything we do in our community, so we are looking for someone who is committed and dedicated to supporting older people and is passionate about our Borough.
We would welcome our new Trustees throughout the year to attend our events and services for our older people, such as walking football or events such as our Valentine’s celebration which attracts over 400 older people.

ARC offers a vital service. In the UK, approximately 700,000 pregnant women are offered some form of screening test every year, such as an ultrasound scan and/or a blood test. As a result, over 20,000 expectant parents will be told that their baby may not be developing as expected. This causes a great deal of anxiety and uncertainty for expectant parents and their families.
ARC offers a unique and important support service that provides impartial information, advice and guidance for parents who are making decisions about antenatal tests and results. We do this throughout their journey - before, during and after tests and our services are openly and widely available to anyone who needs them.
Over the past 40 years, ARC has developed into an expert, well-funded and deeply respected charity. This is a pivotal time in the charity’s evolution as we look to continue growing and deepening our impact across the health sector. There are still so many more parents who could benefit from our work, and this is a great opportunity for new trustees to join the extended team.
Trustee opportunities
- We are looking for future-focused and compassionate people to share leadership responsibilities with fellow trustees and support Jane Fisher and her team in delivering our excellent services.
- We are open to trustees from all backgrounds. However, we are particularly interested in recruiting new trustees who can help us widen our reach and extend our vital support beyond what we do already via our helpline, publications, parent forums, volunteer network and newsletter. You might come from a communications background, have experience working with underserved communities, or have lived experience with the communities we are trying to reach.
- We are looking to our new trustees to bring a unique insight onto the board and who share our vision and values.
- Previous board experience is not required.
How to apply
Eastside People is supporting the ARC (Antenatal Results & Choices) in recruiting for these roles. Apply by submitting your CV and cover letter. Please use the cover letter (max 2 pages) as an opportunity to add to the information you have shared in your CV, and ensure that you cover the following:
- Why are you interested in a trustee role and why at ARC?
