At TOP UK we know how distressing and overwhelming OCD and phobias can be. Nearly 40 years of experience tells us that both conditions have a hugely negative impact on people’s lives. Fear and anxiety are incredibly unpleasant emotions and to frequently experience these emotions on a large scale is traumatic and debilitating. No one deserves that.

At TOP UK we also know that OCD and phobias are poorly understood, under-funded and stigmatised despite affecting millions of people. OCD and phobia sufferers often tell us how misunderstanding of their conditions leaves them feeling isolated, alone and afraid to seek help. At TOP UK, we believe no one should feel alone in facing their fears 

It is an exciting but testing time at TOP UK and we have just launched an ambitious three-year strategy. While we are eager to embark on this new stage of development for our organisation it comes with an acknowledgment that we are working in particularly uncertain and stressful times and there is a greater need to grow our service than ever before. Demand for our service is at an all-time high and continues to grow, currently dramatically outstripping our capacity. Mental health services are at breaking point leaving those with OCD and Phobias often finding it impossible to find help and dealing with debilitating conditions alone.

Meeting this demand will be a challenge, but it is a challenge we are ready and willing to push for but in order to grow and build our organisation we are keen to evolve, enhance and diversify our Board of Trustees

The role is open to those from the public, private and voluntary sectors. You should be someone with a genuine interest in mental health and we are ideally looking for individuals with any of the following experience: Charity Governance; IT & Digital;Marketing, Communications and Brand; Fundraising: Diversity and Inclusion.

Over four decades, Prospect Hospice has become the organisation that people in Swindon,

We are looking for new Trustees who can support our mission to work with and through

Our Board usually meets four times each year, in addition to which Trustees are asked to also join
one of our quarterly sub committees. While it would be beneficial for Trustees to be willing/able to
contribute to Prospect related activity outside meetings, for example to participate in specific project focused tasks or attending and representing the Charity at external events, this is not essential.

Oxfordshire Breastfeeding Support (OBS) is a small charity (a charitable incorporated organisation or CIO) providing free direct breastfeeding support to the families of Oxfordshire - via a mixture of virtual one to one appointments, in-person sessions, Zoom groups, a private Facebook group, antenatal workshops and work targeted at groups that are under-represented. OBS is seeking to recruit a trustee to act as treasurer of trustees for a period of 2-3 years. In addition to the responsibilities of a general trustee, treasurer of the trustees will:

• Provide financial leadership to the board of trustees, offering valuable insights and recommendations on financial planning, budgeting, and investment decisions.

• Oversee the development and implementation of the charity's financial policies, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

The Baca Charity is currently looking for Trustees with expertise in at least one of the following areas: 

• Property /social housing expertise including an understanding of housing law, regulations and property market/trends.
• Education – access to education, apprenticeship, progression to FE or HE education to facilitate development of opportunities to support vulnerable people towards employment / entrepreneurship. Safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

LEVEL OF COMMITMENT 

All trustees are required to attend quarterly evening and one full day Board meetings.  Board meetings usually take place at the Baca main office, Loughborough, Leicestershire. As appropriate, meetings could also take place virtually.

In addition to reading papers and preparing for meetings/conference calls, Trustees may be called upon for specific advice if they have particular expertise in a given area. 

According to their individual skills and experience, Trustees may also be invited to serve on Baca’s Finance or Staff & Young People Wellbeing Committees or on ad-hoc Working Groups. Committees meet quarterly, usually in advance of Board meetings.

Share Psychotherapy is a long-standing psychotherapy charity providing long term, low cost therapy. We specifically aim to help people who cannot afford or cannot access therapy elsewhere. Share Psychotherapy is one of Sheffield’s leading mental health charities. Established for over 40 years we offer medium to long term therapy at nominal fees, primarily to people on low incomes. This therapy is delivered through a range of psychodynamic & creative modalities. We therefore work at the vital intersection of psychological distress & poverty in the city, providing high quality, long term therapy to people who could not otherwise obtain such help, especially those on low incomes. 

Our clients are often experiencing serious mental and emotional distress, through anxiety, depression, difficulty with relationships or traumatic life events.

We are part way through a change process at Share - developing and strengthening our clinical services, improving our administrative and business systems and strengthening our financial position. We want to build upon our position as a centre of excellence in psychotherapy and make an even bigger contribution to improving mental health in Sheffield.

NIDAS supports women and families with all aspects of domestic abuse with confidential support and a variety of bespoke services. NIDAS, located in Mansfield, helps women to stay safe, grow their self-esteem and go on to build happy, healthy relationships. We believe being free from abuse is only the start of the journey.

Role Description

The role of the Chair of Trustees is to give leadership to the board and to make sure the board fulfils its duties and responsibilities. Additionally, the Chair of Trustees works closely with the CEO to support her/him to achieve the aims of NIDAS, and, at times, represent NIDAS at functions, meetings and in the press, and broadcasting media. 

Level of Commitment

• Six-weekly board meetings
• Participating in a sub-committee and/ or ad hoc groups
• Regular meetings with the CEO
• Represent NIDAS at various events and meetings with stakeholders

Duties

In addition to the responsibilities of a trustee, the Chair of Trustees' duties are to: 

• Provide leadership to the organisation and the board by ensuring that everyone remains focused on the delivery of its charitable purposes in order to deliver the greatest public benefit. 
• To ensure that the Annual Reports and accounts are produced at the end of each year for presentation to the Annual General Meeting and to ensure that they are forwarded to the Charity Commission within the appropriate time period. 
• Chair and facilitate board meetings and the Annual General Meeting encouraging full participation by all attending. 
• Establish sub-committees and working groups to address specific issues/tasks as deemed appropriate by the board, and to call upon specialist skills of his/her fellow Officers and Trustees in relation to those groups, and to participate in such groups as appropriate. 
• Give direction to board policy making. 
• Check that decisions taken at meetings are implemented. 
• Represent the organisation at functions and meetings and act as a spokesperson when appropriate. 
• Bring impartiality and objectivity to decision making. 
• Liaise with the CEO to keep an overview of the organisation’s affairs. 
• Lead the process of supporting and appraising the performance of the CEO. 
• Sit on senior appointment, and disciplinary panels. 

The Chair of Trustees will also work with the CEO to: 

• Plan and set the agenda for the Annual General meeting with the Secretary. 
• Plan the annual cycle of board meetings and agendas for each meeting with the Secretary. 
• Develop the board of trustees including induction, training, appraisal and succession planning. 
• Address conflict within the board and within the organisation, and liaise with the CEO to achieve this.

Decisions made by the board set the direction of our charitable activities and have a major influence on the success of our work so that local people are able to take decisions that directly affect their lives. The role provides a unique insight into the issues facing our local communities and being a part of improving local people’s lives is very rewarding.

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills, and utilise any expertise and knowledge to benefit the local community.

This is an unpaid role but all reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

What difference will you make?

The trustees are collectively responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Citizens Advice Staffordshire South West and for developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with governing documents and legal and regulatory guidelines and your energy and ideas will drive the organisation forward.
