We are seeking to add to the expertise of our experienced, professional Board of Trustees all of whom are volunteers.  All our Trustees require excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively as part of a team, strategic vision and good independent judgement. Although not limited to, we would particularly value the experience and skills in the following areas : 

• Company Secretary/Legal Experience 
• Fundraising in the following areas – Grant, Corporate and Public 
• Marketing 

Lived or shared experience of mental health – desirable. 

Inclusion is one of our values and we are looking for diversity in the makeup of our Board. We particularly welcome applications from underrepresented communities. The Board of Trustees meets every six weeks (in-person), in the evening at 7 p.m. for approximately 2 hours in the Borough of Sutton. 

As background information, Sutton Mental Health Foundation was established as a charity in 1998. Its aim is to support individuals experiencing serious mental health issues in the London Borough of Sutton. We aim to keep such individuals well and active helping them to have a voice in the provision of mental health care in the Borough.  Our vision is to provide a community in Sutton which values mental wellbeing and understands how to respond positively to individuals’ anxiety and distress.  The Foundation works together to promote mental wellbeing resilience and recovery from mental distress.We provide nonclinical support through our Intentional Peer Support programme together with a Day Service and a Crisis Cafe at our centre in Belmont. We receive funding mainly from the NHS and the London Borough of Sutton although we are part of the Voluntary Sector.

If you are successful you will need to undertake induction & training for role at these dates:
Welcome Event (Induction) - Induction event is currently planned possible dates 24th July evening, 2nd August Daytime and 6th July August, however once successful candidates have been approached these will be surveyed for availability with an aim of reducing the number of induction events (ideally to 1 if possible) and preferred location (Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth or online)Enrollment and Interview event on Saturday 31st May.

While observing activity at an event through regular patrols, you could be involved in anything from providing first aid advice to providing lifesaving skills for a patient until the emergency services arrive. Your actions can save lives. Whether it's a minor injury or a serious emergency, your skills will be the difference between panic and relief. 

Become a CFA with Cheshire North and come along every Monday 7:30-9pm to our network meetings at the St John Ambulance building in Warrington.

New volunteers are expected to be available once a month to attend the network training which can take place in Bolton, Wigan and Radcliffe. Our events are at stadiums, Concerts and within the community so we ask that you are able to commute within our network of Bolton, Wigan and Radcliffe.

We’re looking for three Community Connectors over the age of 18 years old, based across various locations in Nottingham.

You’ll be volunteering: dates and times to be agreed with volunteer.

The volunteers could be:

• Providing a valuable support to our teams based within the region.
• Build relationships with people, and organisations to raise awareness of stroke and the Stroke Association.
• Engaging with your local community to represent the Stroke Association, this could include hosting an information stand at local face events.
• Sharing your knowledge and experience of stroke to others.
• Researching and gathering information relating to life after stroke services.
• Attending fundraising events, including donation collections.

Swansea Community Workshops

The Board of Trustees are looking to recruit a knowledgeable and experienced individual for the voluntary role of Treasurer (Board of Trustees). The main activity at Swansea Community Workshops (SCW) is to provide facilities for hobbies, recreation, and leisure time occupation in a socially interactive and practical environment, where there are skills sharing, learning of new skills, and helping community-based projects. As we are a charity, these facilities are for public benefit, specifically targeting socially excluded members of the local community in Swansea.

Role Overview

Title: Treasurer (Voluntary) Reports to: Board of Trustees.

Hours: 6-10 hours per month as minimum. Attendance to monthly sub-committee meetings and bimonthly Board of Trustee meetings is expected.

Role and Responsibilities Overall

• Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
• Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place.
• Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.
• Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts, and audits.

Specifically 

• Undertake bookkeeping duties and/or oversee the finance volunteer ensuring posting and bookkeeping is kept up-to-date.
• Maintain the petty cash system and regularly process petty cash claims.
• Regularly carry out reconciliations/ oversee regular reconciliations by the Centre Manager.
• Liaise with relevant staff, board members and/or volunteers to ensure the financial viability of the organisation.
• Make fellow board members aware of their financial obligations and take a lead in interpreting financial data to them.
• Regularly report the financial position at Board of Trustees meetings (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc) with assistance from the Centre Manager.
• Alongside the Chair and Centre Manager, provide oversight in the production of an annual budget and propose its adoption at the last meeting of the previous financial year.
• Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures and controls are in place, as laid out in SCW’s Scheme of Delegation and other policies. i.e.:
• Cheque signatories
• Purchasing limits
• Purchasing systems
• Petty cash/ float
• Salary payments
• Pensions
• PAYE and NI payments
• Others as appropriate
• Appraising the financial viability of plans, proposals, and feasibility studies.

Personal Qualities

Time commitment

Trustee appointments will initially be for a term of 3 years which may be extended to a second term, or more. The Board of Trustees currently meets monthly in New Milton. We aim to meet for 2 hours, although recent increased activity has tended to extend the time to 3 hours. *The Board recognizes that it would be better to move to a bi-monthly or quarterly schedule, and would like to do so in future. Trustees receive Committee meeting papers a week before the meeting to enable them to prepare for the meeting.
