Voluntary
Job description

Be at the heart of the festive magic this season! As a Customer Experience Volunteer, you’ll help bring the joy, laughter, and wonder of live theatre to life for local families and theatregoers. Working side-by-side with our passionate team and Duty Manager, you will be the friendly face that welcomes our community, guides excited audiences to their seats, and ensures everyone enjoys a safe, memorable, and magical time at the pantomime.

Customer Experience Volunteers play an important role in creating a welcoming, safe and enjoyable experience for everyone attending the pantomime. Working alongside the Duty Manager and Customer Experience team, volunteers will support audiences before, during and after performances, helping the venue run smoothly and ensuring customers receive a high standard of service.

The role is public-facing and will involve working with lively and enthusiastic pantomime audiences in a busy and fast-paced environment.

Time Commitment: Flexible shifts are available throughout the run of Puss in Boots, wrapping up in early January 2027. Full performance schedules can be viewed on our website.

What You’ll Gain from the Experience

Share the Festive Joy: Experience the unique sparkle of festive pantomime and play an active part in creating cherished memories for children and families.

Connect with Your Community: Meet fellow theatre lovers, make new friends, and be part of a warm, supportive team.

Develop New Skills: Build confidence, enhance your communication skills, and gain behind-the-scenes insights into how a busy theatre operates.

Give Back in a Vibrant Setting: Immerse yourself in the uplifting energy of live performances while making a meaningful difference to your local cultural venue.

Recruitment and information evening

Selected applicants will be contacted and invited to meet members of the Customer Experience team on Monday November 23rd 6pm-8pm. During this time you will be asked to participate in a group activity to demonstrate your suitability for the role. This will be an opportunity for you to find out more about volunteering and ask any questions you may have.

If offered the role, you must be available to attend the Induction and Training Date: Tuesday 1st Dec 3pm - 6pm

About You

We are looking for someone who:

● Enjoys providing excellent customer service and creating a welcoming, friendly atmosphere.

● Is reliable, professional and comfortable working as part of a team.

● Is confident, approachable and enjoys working with a wide range of people.

● Is happy working in a busy, lively and fast-paced environment.

● Is willing to get stuck in and support with a variety of tasks throughout the shift.

● Is prepared to take an active role in the post-performance “pick up” and clear-up. Pantomime audiences can be particularly lively and notoriously messy, and the turnaround between performances can be tight to get the auditorium ready for the next audience.

● Has good awareness of their surroundings and can respond calmly to customer needs or unexpected situations.

Brings a positive attitude and is ready to be part of the fun and excitement of pantomime!
