EduSpots is an innovative, dynamic, and community-orientated UK and Ghanaian registered charity which connects, trains, and equips grassroots voluntary educators (named ‘Catalysts’) to drive community-led change through education spaces named ‘Spots’. Our vision is of a world in which communities unite to create the futures they want to see, through education.
Since 2016, through collaborating with over 400 local voluntary community educators and actors – named ‘Catalysts’ – who take a central leadership role in the development of the network, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’’. Our Ghana-based team creates collaborative learning opportunities through three leadership programmes for Catalysts which are increasingly facilitated by the EduSpots app: the Ignite, Catalyse and Inspire Mentoring Programmes. These enable the Catalysts to lead EduKidz (early years education), DigLit (digital literacy), EcoSTEM (STEM and environmental education) and Ignite Equity (gender equity) clubs for learners typically aged 3-16, alongside locally designed education projects, reaching over 10,000 learners of all ages annually. We are in an exciting period of our development, having more than doubled our income, programme breadth and reach in the two years, with a recent independent evaluation by Expectation State offering further evidence in support of our model’s outcomes. We have been recently selected for two accelerator programmes, who are supporting us as we consider the scaling potential of our model. In the period, we are aiming to double our network reach, bringing an additional 50 Spots into the network.
We won the Tes International Award in 2018 and the Big Give Supporters’ Choice Award in 2022, and we were recently selected as a finalist for the 2023 Their World Scale-Up Innovation Prize. In 2021, our Founder was a Finalist in UNESCO-backed The Varkey Foundation’s $1 million Global Teacher Prize.

About this role

Reporting to: Trusts and Foundations Manager / Global Philanthropy Manager
Mode: Voluntary
Hours of work: 8 hours/week, Flexible
You will work closely with our trusts and foundations team to research fundraising opportunities, check the suitability of grant opportunities for EduSpots’ work, and complete due diligence ahead of applications being started. You will also gain the opportunity to learn the basics of grants fundraising.
Role Overview
As Grants Fundraising Intern, you will:
- Research grants opportunities from trusts and foundations.
- Check the eligibility of grants for EduSpots’ work.
- Complete due diligence on funders and corporates ahead of approaches being made.
- Gain understanding of the basics of grants fundraising, and start to write your own applications.
- Attend all team meetings for grants and wider corporate, community, individual and campaign fundraising.
- Engage with the wider team as a key member of the EduSpots staff team community.
Personal specification
- Strong communication skills – e.g. written and verbal in English
- Strong IT skills – e.g. ability to use Microsoft Office, Google Drive, social media, etc.
- An ability to work highly independently with minimal support, with the proactivity to reach out to team members when necessary.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: MEDICAL DOCTORS NEEDED
Global Health Reform Initiative (GHRI) is a humanitarian health organization dedicated to improving access to quality healthcare for underserved and vulnerable communities through telemedicine.
We are currently seeking licensed medical doctors to volunteer with our telemedicine program, providing remote medical consultations and professional medical guidance to patients across different regions.
This role is 100% remote and flexible.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide virtual medical consultations via GHRI’s telemedicine platform
Offer professional medical advice for mild to moderate health conditions

About this role
EduCitizens is a new online community of practice that aims to explore citizenship education in all its diverse forms. We understand that this area of education has a broad scope and embeds in diverse forms within diverse school and community contexts. Concepts of citizenship and global understanding are nestled within community action, partnerships development, PSHE, geography, charity projects, environmental awareness, values, history, philosophy, ethics, and so many more areas.
You will work closely with our CEO and the wider EduCitizens Community members, spanning 25 countries, with 40 passionate professionals, to organise monthly Zoom sessions, create a dynamic WhatsApp community, and shape the future of global citizenship education.

Role Overview
As a Global Citizenship Education Intern, you will:
- Lisa with the group members and leaders to curate learning experiences that enable all members of the group to share ideas and feel valued.
- Interviewing members of the community on the WhatsApp feed, to learn more about their work.

- Write articles and social media posts, highlighting the ongoing discoveries and learnings of the community.

- Undertake training over a 10-week period – this includes five virtual training days as well as completing a workbook and online learning modules.

Registered in 1999, Daybreak is a charity whose foundations are in growing the practice of Family Group Conferences in the UK. From this, we have seen the positive impact that occurs when families and communities are empowered to take action when faced with challenging situations.

Who we’re looking for
We are looking to welcome a new Treasurer to our Board of Trustees.
To serve as one of Daybreak’s trustees is to play a fundamental role in enabling our charity to pursue its vision, mission, and values. Your contribution to discussions and decision-making at the highest level of our organization will ensure that we can continue to provide our services to those in need of our support.
In addition to the general duties of a Trustee, as Treasurer, your input will be critical to safeguarding the financial integrity and sustainability of our charity. You will ensure that appropriate financial measures are upheld and share your insights with the Board about the financial health of our organisation. Your experience will enable us to understand the obstacles we face and how we can navigate these challenges.
The role is more focused on strategy than detail. You will offer crucial guidance and support to management in developing a growth strategy that will allow Daybreak to reach more people and touch more lives.
There is no requirement for you to have experience as a Trustee. All we need is a willingness to use your skills and expertise to support Daybreak, a desire to make a difference for our service users, and a commitment to active participation in the role.
We would especially welcome applications from under-represented sections of society or those with experience of some of the issues facing our beneficiaries.
The time commitment involved is around thirty hours per year, though a wide range of opportunities to get involved in the Board’s work will be provided. Board meetings are usually held quarterly at our head office in Southampton, Hampshire or online.

The Animal Partnerships team, based at Battersea's London site, is a team who are there for dogs and cats who require a different, specialised environment. For those under socialised cats, for whom a traditional ‘pet home’ wouldn’t be suitable, the Animal Partnerships team are on hand to provide rural homes; often on farms and stables, with the Working Cats Coordinator working in the community finding new homes.
We are looking for volunteer support based in and around Essex. This volunteer will support in researching and sourcing suitable homes in and around Essex, likely on farms, stables and other rural settings for working cats. They will support in positively promoting our Working Cat Programme to achieve happy outcomes for both the cats and their new owners, whilst being supported by the Working Cat Co-ordinator.
This volunteer role is a non-animal facing role meaning it would have no interaction with Battersea Working Cats.
What the role would entail?
This role is based in Essex with very occasional travel into Battersea, London. Please take this into consideration before applying. It is essential for the role that the candidate has a full clean driving licence and an own vehicle. An ideal candidate would live in Essex or within a short distance of Essex.
- Researching and sourcing rural homes within Essex, suitable for potential working cats rehoming.
- Passing on new contact details to the Battersea Working Cat Team.
- Informing and educating members of the public about Battersea’s Working Cats Programme.
- Helping working cat homes to understand how to securely settle and maintain working cats, through sharing advice and support.
- Attend country shows and events to promote Battersea's Working Cat Programme.
- Supporting members of the public in completing applications, via the website, to rehome a Battersea Working Cat.
- Observe the Working Cat Co-ordinator settle working cats into their new homes, in which you were monumental in sourcing.
What skills and experience would be useful?
- Full clean driving licence.
- Your own vehicle – travel expenses will be reimbursed.
- Good cat welfare and behaviour knowledge.
- Good personal skills to communicate well with potential homes and members of the public.
- An interest in Battersea’s Working Cats Programme and a passion to support by finding homes.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the support of a volunteer mentor.
- Basic computer skills.
What skills will I gain?
- All volunteers will have an induction with the volunteering team and then a role related induction and training with the Animal Partnerships Team.
- You will learn about working cats, their behaviour, their needs husbandry and habitats.
- You will learn how to positively interact with the farming/equestrian community.
Where and when would I be volunteering?
- One day a week, driving to rural areas in Essex.
- The role will be based in Essex – an ideal candidate would live in Essex or within a short distance of Essex.
- Trial for 6 months with regular check ins with the Working Cat Co-ordinator and Animal Partnerships Officer (Cats).
- Induction and training will take place at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, London.
